Hello Ladies!  How was your weekend?  Mine was filled with football, workouts, and lots of healthy eating.  A few friends and I are doing a sugar detox this month, so my weekend meals and football snacks received a healthy makeover.  The first week of my sugar detox left me super tired everyday, but Sunday I started noticing a little more energy and less cravings for junk food.  So it seems to be working the way I had hoped.

Now let’s talk fashion! One of my favorite ways to instantly take a look from casual to dressy casual is with a pair of heels.  For fall, a black pair of heels is perfect to dress up your casual looks a little.  With casual outfits in mind, I try to find heels with texture, cutouts, or a cute detail to differentiate them from a normal black work pump.  Although, I wear this pair to both work and on weekends.

I picked up this black and gray striped cardigan during the Nordstrom Sale.  This color keeps going in and out of stock, but I did see it back last night.  I love the thick, bold stripe pattern because it is a little different than my other solid cardigans.  The black and gray color keeps it more neutral and helps it pair well with a few other colors like pink, burgundy, or emerald green.  This cardigan would also be cute paired with a shift dress for the office.

If you are  starting to prep your closet for fall, be sure to check out Friday’s post and download my free fall wardrobe basics checklist!  It will make sure you have the items to create outfits like the one in this post and more during the fall season.

Happy Friday!! It has been such a busy week at work, so I’m really excited to see Friday finally get here.  Tonight’s plans include relaxing on the couch in pjs with a glass of wine, and I can’t wait for it.

I love all the darker and jewel tone colors of fall, but blush pink is one color I’m planning to let invade a bit of my fall wardrobe this season.  This lighter pink shade grows on me more and more with each season it’s popular.  When it first made it’s appearance a few years ago being the pantone color of the year, I didn’t fully embrace it.  I think I have to find that perfect blush pink to really love it,  and this cardigan is the perfect shade.

When wearing these pastel colors in fall, I like to pair them with other neutral or light colors.  Gray and blush pink are to me the perfect color combo.  BTW- I’ve had these under $100 jeans for a few seasons now.  They are comfy and good quality, especially for the price tag! This outfit would also work with white jeans, and taupe booties or tall boots.  I also wore this cardigan last week over a basic work look to add a little sophisticated color.  You can see it over on my Instagram HERE.  Black, white, and pink is another favorite color combo with this cardigan.

Side Note: This cardigan is lightweight and semi-sheer.  In some of the photos, you can see the sleeve of my tee showing through.  It wasn’t a dealbreaker for me because I love the color, but I wanted to be sure and point it out.

So I feel like every time I have posted a cardigan lately, they end up selling out a day or two before. I try and check these things, but these cardigans they go fast!  This blush pink cardigan was in stock in all sizes when I checked last night AND comes in a few other colors!  I’ll try to check on the burgundy ones I have posted for a restock and let ya’ll know.  I’m noticing the colors tend to go before the neutrals like gray and beige.  Something to keep in mind while you cardigan shop.

Ya’ll have a great weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hello Hello!  How was your weekend?? I spent some time with family, we seriously laughed so hard we were crying. It was a really fun evening.  Thanks to a tiny bit of cool early evening weather, I was also able to lace up my running shoes and go for a short jog/walk.  Texas heat makes outdoor workouts impossible in July through early September, so I love when the temps finally let me get out and do a little light jogging.

I have been sharing lots of fall outfit inspiration lately, and I wanted to share how to transition summer dresses into fall.  These tips are super easy, and you probably already have everything you need in your closet.

First – It’s all in the shoes.  Booties were one of my must haves basics for fall, and they are a great way to create a fall outfit with your summer dresses.  I love a good peep toe bootie because I feel like they still have a slightly summer feel and are good if it is warmer out.  For a closed toe bootie, I like to pair my dresses with a bootie that dips in the front across the ankle.  I think it help create a little bit more of an elongating look versus cutting you off and throwing off your proportions.  For some reason, I don’t feel that way with a peep toe on me. (Find more of my favorite booties for fall HERE)

Second – Add on a layering piece.  Whether you opt for a denim jacket, leather jacket, or cozy cardigan, adding on a layer over your dress is the easiest way to transition summer dresses to fall. This one piece can change the overall look of the dress.  A fitted jacket can help add shape, and a looser fitting cardigan can give you a casual boho vibe.

I told you, two steps and super easy.  Thanks so much for checking in today, and don’t forget to keep scrolling to check out the Style File Link Up!

One of my favorite things about fall is creating all the fun layered outfits.  With the right basics, you can easily turn a few pieces into a month long wardrobe.  To help you create such endless style,  I’m sharing the 4 fall basics you need in your closet.

1 – Long Cardigans – Oh I own soooooo many long cardigans!  I’m always cold, so I use that to justify how many I own and continue to buy.  Cardigans are great to throw on over work outfits, dresses, and add on to any casual outfit.  You can pair them with shorts during the transitional time of the season too.  To make them even more versatile, go with basic colors like gray, black, and ivory.  I also find good use in my burgundy ones.

2 – Basic Tees (especially striped tees) – For casual looks, a good basic tee is a great start to an outfit.  I look for something semi-fitted, so it will lay properly underneath another layer like a cardigan or jacket.  A fun trend is to layer your tee under sundresses or slip dresses to wear them into fall.  Striped tees are key in my wardrobe.  I pair them with a skirt for work or jeans for weekends.

3 – Classic Denim Styles – I think everyone needs a black and a blue pair of jeans.  These two shades will take you far in terms of outfit creation and versatility.  Black jeans give you an instant chic look plus black goes with everything!  A medium blue jean color is perfect to wear year round, and it works well with mixing and matching.  I prefer the skinny style.  It’s cute with heels, long tops, tucks nicely into boots, or cuffs perfectly to pair with booties.  A few extras – I love a darker blue pair  in a bootcut or flared leg for when I want a more dressed up look.  Lately, I’ve been loving my gray jeans.  I find them to really work with a wide array of colors and prints.

4 – Classic Bootie or Boot – The right style and color can work with so many casual outfits.  If you can only get one pair, opt for a neutral color like taupe or beige.  I find this color works with more colors and prints.  I’m crushing on peep toe booties right now, because we didn’t really have a long winter last year. I wore my other pair so much which is why I chose to get one more pair this season.   If you are looking for a new pair of booties, check out my best of the season round up HERE.

BONUS – I was torn between which shoe style to include in my top 4, so honorable mention goes to a great flat.  A pointy toe flat is great to wear both to work with business attire or on weekends with jeans.
