Summer to Fall Transitional Outfit
Happy Friday!! We had our first official fall cold front come in this week, and I even had to pull out a cardigan for work yesterday. I can’t believe we are having such cool weather this early in September!
The cooler weather means it’s time to start transitioning my wardrobe to fall. Sleeveless sweaters and peep toe booties are two items I love to incorporate into my summer wardrobe and fall transitional outfit ideas. Both provide a little warmth for cooler morning and evenings, but you stay cool during the warmer parts of the day.
I love the marled look of this sweater. It’s a great silhouette for work too! I paired it with a pair of maroon skinny pants a few weeks ago (SEEN HERE). The high neck is comfy too, not too tight or restricting at all!
Ya’ll, I am loving these booties! I added a peep toe pair last fall and soon realized they were a great year round bootie for Texas weather. I have mentioned before (last seen in this post), these were an immediate add to cart during the Nordstrom Sale. They will definitely be finding their way into many outfits this season! I love that the peep toe portion helps your feet breath a little bit during the warmer parts of fall.
Ya’ll have a great weekend! If you are in the path of Hurricane Irma, all of us here in Texas are sending all of our prayers your way! Stay safe!

Work Wear: Button Pencil Skirt & Link Up
Good Morning! First off, THANK YOU for all of your sweet comments last week. With the events unfolding here in Houston, I decided to take the week off from blogging. Every few days I would check in on the blog and loved reading all of your messages. The Texas Gulf coast is slowly entering recovery mode. Some areas are still experiencing flooding as the water flows through rivers and bayous to head off into the Gulf of Mexico. Texas has a long road of recovery ahead of us. It has been wonderful seeing people drop everything to go help friends and strangers repair homes.
I decided to ease back into sharing outfits on the blog this week. I love this little space of mine. The break was necessary, but I’m ready to get back to it. I’m starting off with this cute little work outfit. A few weeks ago, I headed into Loft during one of their 40% off sales and found this gorgeous blue button pencil skirt. I was drawn to the color and loved the button details. It’s a wrap skirt design, and perfect for the office. Sizing Note: I’m wearing the petite.
Ya’ll Loft might be my new favorite place for soft and cozy tees that are not super see through. I purchased this gray tank earlier this summer. I’ve loved wearing it so much that I decided to buy the tee version in black. Because a black tee is the perfect year round basic. It’s the perfect compliment to this skirt for a cute work wear outfit. I have also paired it with white shorts (as seen here) for a more casual look.
It’s also Style File Link Up day, so scroll on down for more outfit inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!

Hurricane Harvey Update
Good Morning from Houston. Well, you have probably heard we have had MAJOR flooding in our city from Hurricane Harvey. Once I arrived home Friday, I chose to stay put and catch up on blog work, house cleaning, and book reading until everything was clear. While I was prepared for a flooding event and being cooped up all weekend, I don’t think I was really prepared for what would happen over the next few days. I am extremely blessed to be sitting in a dry home with a street that so far has only filled with water twice overnight before receding during the day. Most of the city is or was under water at some point. Businesses were shut down on Monday and many still today, and school districts have canceled school for the week. Both of our major airports have shut down completely. Some Houstonians had to be rescued from their homes by boat or a Coast Guard helicopter, the national guard is here helping with rescues. It’s heartbreaking to watch the news right now, and it’s still raining!
I will say it has been heartwarming to see our city and state come together to help each other out. People pulling out their boats to help with rescues, opening up homes to friends and even strangers needing to evacuate, and checking in on neighbors. They are calling it one of the worst floods in Houston history, but I know my city. We will come back, we will clean up, rebuild, and support each other all along the way. We have survived hurricanes before and we will do it again. If you would like to donate to Hurricane Harvey recovery for Houston and all cities affected especially those near Corpus Christi where the hurricane made landfall, please donate to the Red Cross. The Houston Mayor also set up a donation site to help support Houston after the storm, you can donate here. To find more ways to help out, I found a list with a variety of options here too.
Thank you for your thoughts and your prayers for all of us on the Gulf Coast!
End of Summer Sales!
Yesterday, I decided to peruse a few online sales, and I wanted to share a few with you. Right now, many stores are having end of summer sales by marking down items already on clearance to make way for the new fall and winter items.
It’s a great time to stock up on summer items like swimsuits, sandals, and tank tops. I like to look for work out clothes and good basics like tees, shorts, and solid dresses. Items that I can wear next spring and summer, not too trendy in case that trend fades away. Being in Texas it will still be hot in September and part of October, so some of these items I can still wear for a bit.
I listed a few of my faves from some of the sales too. Ya’ll have a good rest of your weekend, and I will see you back here on Tuesday for the Style File Link Up!
