Happy Friday friends!! It never comes soon enough. 🙂 I am quite excited for this weekend because my family and I are celebrating my grandmother’s birthday! Plus, the weather is expected to be absolutely gorgeous, so it should be a great celebration.
I wore this look to a little Galentine’s Happy Hour with my girlfriends a couple weeks back. I am quite obsessed with this top. I was so nervous when I ordered it about how it would look in person, but ya’ll it totally lives up to the picture. It combines to hot trends this season- sheer material and embroidery. I love that it is a little bit flowy on the bottom while being fitted in the sleeves and shoulder. I did choose to size up, and I am happy I did. I am wearing a medium, and it fits perfectly.
This top has a bit more of a pretty feminine feel, so I paired it with my distressed jeans to add a little edge. I kept my jewelry minimal to not distract from the floral design. My pink clutch was the perfect pop of color addition to compliment instead of compete with the embroidery.
Ya’ll have a great weekend! I plan to eat lots of cake and maybe sip a little champagne. 🙂 I’ll see you back here on Monday!

As many of you know, I live in Houston and the big Super Bowl game this year is in Houston. It’s been fun watching the city prepare for the big game. The teams have been here all week, athletes and celebrities are starting to trickle in, and the parties are in full force. This gal here plans to spend the weekend at home in a t-shirt and jeans (probably leggings). Ha! Well I do plan to go to a few workout classes and the grocery store, but like that’s it.
I am not a fan of crowds, traffic, or not being able to find parking, so I decided long ago that I would be sitting this one out. I do wish I would have gone downtown last weekend for the NFL Experience event before the crowds came in. I’ve heard it was really cool and fun. Despite my desire to stay home, I am a big football fan and LOVE that this big game is in my hometown. Houston is an amazing city, and it’s great to see that showcased to the whole world!! Who knows maybe some big celeb will be on the bike next to me at spin class. 😉
Normally we either attend or host a big Super Bowl Party, so in case you are heading to one scroll down for a few outfit ideas. I divided them up by team. My Atlanta Falcons fans pull out the bright red, and my New England Patriots fans look for dark blue and navy. For those of you heading to a party because there is queso and Lady Gaga at halftime, I put together a few neutral outfits for you too.
A few tips for putting your Super Bowl Party Outfit together –
1) Pick something you can stand and sit in for long hours, you may even end up sitting on the floor. Keep that in mind.
2) Some of the outfits below have heels, but I would opt for flats, boots, or booties for the same reason listed above.
3) You can still wear your hometown team’s jersey! It’s the last NFL game until August, pull out that jersey and wear it!!
4) If you don’t care which team wins, stay away from the team colors. You will be deemed a fan of that time by color association.
5) Prepare to eat! Half the fun of the party is all the food, so make sure your outfit can accommodate a little over indulgence!
Now enjoy the outfit inspiration below, and ya’ll have a fun and safe Super Bowl Weekend!!

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend ringing in 2017. I started the year off on the right foot with a morning trip to the gym and a day filled with healthy meals and a little leftover champagne. I mean I couldn’t let the bubbles go to waste. 🙂
January and February are typically our coldest months, but I’m starting to wonder if our winter will continue to have these warmer days. I have been leaning towards lots of layered looks lately. I wanted to share a few of my personal tips to creating the perfect warm winter outfit. While it is all about the layering, what makes up those layers is really important. This weather is not super abnormal for Texas, probably why I love long cardigans so much. They are great layering piece right now. You can toss them over a dress or pencil skirt and blouse for work or pair them with jeans for a casual weekend look. I typically go for neutral colors so they can work with anything, but I couldn’t resist this gorgeous burgundy one!
The biggest layer to pay attention to is the top you wear under the cardigan. I go with something lightweight like this tunic that can work as an outfit without the cardigan if the weather warms up too much. This is the same top that I own in olive and wear all the time. I decided to add the white version mainly for the purpose of layering it with sweaters and cardigans. You can also pull out some of your lightweight summer tops for this layer too. The right floral print would look perfect with this look.
I typically save my riding boots for colder days, but occasionally I just can’t resist them when the calendar says winter. To make sure I don’t overheat my feet, I stick to a thinner pair of socks. If you want to dress up this casual look, add some heels or a sparkly statement maker like this necklace.
I’m excited for one more relaxing day off before heading back to work, even if it does rain all day. I have a few gift cards and some amazing sales to keep me busy. Only a few short days until Christmas! I hope you have all our holiday shopping done. I started the gift wrapping process last night. I’m changing up my gift wrap this year and using brown paper and tons of fun ribbon from a local craft store. I was inspired by a few pictures from Pinterest. They are already looking really cute!
While I’m sure many of you are off from work this week, I am still heading into the office. During winter months, I love pairing my riding boots with pencil skirts for that comfy professional winter work outfit. The flat boot may be a casual shoe, but put it up against a pencil skirt and fabulous top and it instantly transforms. You can also add black tights to this look for colder days.
How gorgeous is this purple bell sleeve top?!? I love the bell sleeve detail and of course the color. I feel like purple use to be everywhere and now it’s becoming harder to find. I’m super picky about my purple. It has to be just the right shade for me to like it. This one is a great rich color and will be perfect in Spring paired with white jeans and wedges. It’s a longer tunic length, so you can easily pair this with some skinny work pants or black jeans too. Ooh or my gray ones from my last post. So many options will work with this color and style!
Alright ya’ll, whether your are at home, work, or running around buying last minute gifts, I hope you have a great day! Check back Friday for a special post sharing my top blog posts of 2016 and see if your favorite outfit made the list. See you then and thanks for stopping by!
