Warm Fall Weather Tee

As I mentioned last week, my fall wardrobe adds are definitely gravitating more towards comfy basics than in the past. I’m also looking for items that can be worn outdoors in a Texas fall like this fun gray tee. When looking for a warm fall weather tee, I tend to go for the 3/4 length sleeve, semi-lightweight material, and leaning towards fall color tones.
This gray rainbow back tee checked all the boxes for me. The 3/4 quarter length sleeve is great for warm days that transition to cool nights. The tee material is slightly thicker but breathable in heat. The gray has a taupe/tan undertone to it which works well with my brown fall booties. The back of this top has a really fun crochet details to add a pop of color, but the blue, green, and purple are slightly more fall jewel toned than bright and summery. The crochet knit also adds breathability. Also, I am wearing a nude colored normal bra under this top, and it doesn’t show on the back.
The sportier look of this top helps it pair perfectly with cutoff jean shorts and sandals now. (See it with shorts HERE) Another style idea is to change out the blue denim for black jeans with black booties or distressed jeans with a cute pair of white sneakers.

How to Transition a Summer Dress into Fall

Happy Friday!! Finishing up our transition into fall this week with a few tips on how to transition a summer dress into fall. Earlier this week, I shared how I style my summer tops for fall, so be sure and check that out if you missed it. Summer dresses, especially sundresses are great for this transitional time of the year. A few easy swaps and add ons give them a fall vibe and help them work for warm days and cool nights.
HOW TO TRANSITION A SUMMER DRESS TO FALL
1 – Add a jacket or cardigan. My blue denim jacket gets so much use during transitional times of the year. It works with so many colors and prints. You can roll up the sleeves on a warmer day and roll them down a cool evening. Long cardigans are also great to layer over a sundress. Pick a complimentary color or opt for a neutral beige or ivory color. Suede and leather jackets are also great options!
2 – Choose neutral booties. My brown and taupe booties are another summer to fall transition staple. A brown or tan color works will with both summer and fall colors.
3 – Add a brown or black belt. My summer was filled with flowy dresses and now I can add a belt to them to change up the look. A belt is a great way to add definition to your waist. By choosing a darker brown or black, you can add a darker fall color that will bring your print or bright summer color a little more to the fall side.
Three easy steps and your summer dresses will instantly be transformed into the perfect fall outfit. How to Transition Summer Floral Tops to Fall

If you are like me, you may have added a few summer tops to your wardrobe this season that haven’t received as many wears as you might like. Living in a city that always has a bit of a warm fall, I’ve learned a few tips and tricks that helps me beat the heat by wearing my summer tops in fall months. I wanted to share a few of my top tips on how to transition summer floral tops to fall, so we can all get a little more use out of these pretty prints.
Summer florals tend to be bright colors, might incorporate a little more white, or summer details like eyelet material. My floral off the shoulder top gives me all the summer feels and looks super cute with white shorts for a hot summer day. Transitioning this floral print to fall can be pretty easy with a few simple swaps and adds.
HOW TO TRANSITION SUMMER FLORAL TOPS TO FALL
1) Add in a dark bottom. I like dark blue or black to easily make a summer white or bright print have a more fall feel. It provides the right amount of contrast to the top and adds in a darker shade more associated with the fall season.
2) Choose a bootcut or flared jean. With closed toe shoes, booties, and heels in season, a flared jean is an easy way to transition any top into fall. These jeans pair well pointy toe shoes and add a dressed up look to a casual outfit.
3) Swap out your sandals for darker closed toe heels and suede boots. In fall, I love to pull out my shoes in darker shades of tan and brown like these heels. A suede material also helps give all the fall vibes to an outfit.
4) Swap out your summer straw purse for a leather tote bag. Straw bags make us think of beach days and vacation, and leather bags always make me think back to school. The handbag swap is another easy way to transition your look to fall. For the fall season, I love picking a bag in a rich brown color to work with summer brights and fall earth and jewel tones.
Just a few simple swaps and those summer floral tops are getting a few extra wears during the fall! If you are looking to add a few fall staples to your closet, don’t forget to check out my post on Fall Must Haves from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

Summer Outfit | Cutoff Jean Shorts

Closing out shorts week with a summer closet must have – cutoff jean shorts. With my outfits lately leaning way over on the casual side, I’ve been wearing some of my older cutoff denim shorts lots. I decided to go ahead and add another pair because my other are a little too big. Jean shorts are something I 100% prefer to try on in-store because you never know what size you might need or how different styles will look.
I’d been hearing lots of good things about this pair, so I decided to give online shorts buying a try. I ordered two sizes, my regular jean size and one size up to compare fit. In the end, I kept the pair in my regular jean size. What I love about these shorts is that they aren’t super tight or too short. They even have a good amount of length in the back. The looser fit design made my normal size fit perfectly. The next size up had to much room in the leg area and made me look a little too wide. I also ordered these in a faded black wash that I think will be great for transitioning into the warm fall weather when we still need our shorts.
I hope you enjoyed my shorts themed week! If you missed the earlier posts, head here for a comfy pair of paperbag shorts and head here for a round up of my shorts outfit from July plus a little more.
