Today’s outfit is part of a 2 day post, One Sweater Two Ways.  The second part of this post will be revealed on Friday.  For today’s look, I am styling this sweater for the office.  If you have been reading my blog for the past few months, then you know how I love to style my pencil skirts! This high/low sweater from Topshop is perfect for my flowy top look.  I love the cream color of the sweater because it goes with so many different colors and breaks me of my normal black color palette.  Both my top and skirt are from last year, but I found some great similar pieces linked above.  My favorite part of my outfit today are these gorgeous shoes from Elaine Turner.  I had been eyeing these shoes for months, and decided to splurge on them over Elaine’s Pink Friday sale.  I love that they are a cross between a bootie and a dress shoe.  They are perfect to wear with skirts for work!  Bonus for you, they are still on sale and also come in a gorgeous taupe color.   Don’t forget to check back on Friday to see how I styled this sweater for a casual weekend look.

I have talked before about my love of a great statement piece.  A piece so gorgeous it needs nothing else to go with it.  This necklace is the epitome of a statement necklace.  I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on Baublebar.  To add to its beauty, 100% of the net proceeds from this necklace benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  With a necklace this beautiful, I want to be sure it takes center stage so an all-black look was exactly what it needed.  The colors of this necklace shine even brighter against the black top and really allow it to stand out.  When adding a statement necklace, I try to keep all my other jewelry, especially my earrings, simple.  If you have too many beautiful statement pieces on at once, they will all be competing with one another.  None of them will have the opportunity to truly shine.  As Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, take a look in the mirror and take one thing off.”  Great advice from a fashion icon.

I love ringing in a new year.  It is such a symbol of a new beginning, out with the old and in with the new.  It is a chance to reflect on the past year and set a resolution for an even more amazing year ahead.  It is also a night when no matter where you celebrate, sequins are practically required.  I purchased this dress a few years ago for my bachelorette party.  I wanted a show stopping piece that stood above all the rest.  In this dress, I was ready to party and celebrate my last single girl’s night out.  This dress was the perfect bachelorette party dress, and is an even more perfect New Year’s Eve dress.  One thing about this dress is it is a very memorable statement piece dress.   My girlfriends will still talk about how fabulous it is.  So for a second wearing on New Year’s Eve, I want to change up the look and try to make it appear a little different.  I love pairing it with this blazer.  I think it adds such a sophisticated style to the overall look.  Plus since it is a little cooler out, it keeps me warm while watching fireworks or stepping out for fresh air.  With cold weather in mind, I also paired this dress with some great suede boots.  I absolutely hate being cold, so finding ways to wear my sequin dress and not freeze is a must.  I also think this dress would look cool with a black leather jacket, black leggings and black pumps.  Both looks will definitely change up the dress from the original way I wore it and give me 2 more outfits out of a fabulous statement piece.

I warned you last week, I live in oversized sweaters and skinny jeans in winter!  While I own multiple brands of jeans, my go to brand is definitely Lucky Brand Jeans.  I love how long lasting and durable their jeans are.  I have had several pairs since college, and they are still in great shape.  On my “skinny days”, I still wear them too!  The price of their jeans is not too bad either.  The pair I’m wearing today is regularly priced $99, but they are currently 40% off!!  These black skinny jeans are a thinner material than normal denim, and a have a little stretch to them which is nice this time of year with all the amazing holiday foods and cocktails.   How gorgeous is this sweater!  I recently fell in love with the BB Dakota brand.  They make gorgeous clothes like this sweater or this jacket from my posts last week.  They also have a great price point, so you will not break the bank stocking up on some of their gorgeous pieces.  I am currently eyeing this amazing sequin skirt for New Year’s Eve!  I always feel this time of year money gets a little tight, because I love buying gifts for others! It’s the shopaholic in me.   It is nice to have great quality brands at good prices so I can still pick up a few fabulous pieces for myself!  What are some of your favorite brands for affordable prices? Let me know in the comments, I’m always looking for new brands to shop and obsess over!
