Fashion Houston Recap
Last week was filled with runway shows galore, as Fashion Houston celebrated its 5th anniversary with four nights of amazing designer fashions. For anyone wondering what attending Fashion Houston is like, I put together a post today all about my experience at the event. I attended three of the four night this year! All the shows were amazing and inspired some great ideas for my spring wardrobe.
The event is held at the Wortham Theater in downtown Houston. The theater is also the home of the Houston Ballet. Red Carpet festivites started the night out with samples from Liqs Beverages, photo opportunities, celebrity sightings, and a sneak peek at a few of the latest Audi vehicles.
The glitz and glam of the runway awaits just up the escalator.
I arrived a bit early one night and was able to snap some pictures of the event space before the crowds filled in.
Lights, Camera, Action! It is time to get this fashion party started!
Alexis Monsanto amazed with a runway show filled with gorgeous dresses and amazing theatrical quality.
One of my favorites, Tibi, showcased her Spring 2015 collection.
Local designer Sameera Faridi showcased the beautiful detail work of her Spring 2015 line.
Several Art Institute students took to the runway this year to show off their talents with a 5 look show.
The fabulous Rubin Singer showed a tribal themed show. One of my favorites of the week, I wanted everything on the runway!
Rebecca Minkoff took to the stage showing her Spring 2015 line along side her handbags.
My fashion partner in crime, Kelley Brege of Chic Domestic, and I were so busy snapping photos of all the amazing fashion, we almost forgot to grab one of ourselves! We had such a great time at Fashion Houston this year! We are already ready for next year’s show!

Black is definitely the new pink. I always find myself leaning towards darker colors when I am out shopping, and I think you can never go wrong with a black on black look. I love how simple yet strong an all black ensemble can be, and the slimming effect of black doesn’t hurt. Sometimes I will add a pop of color with shoes or jewelry to break up the dark color. It’s a great way to show off an amazing statement necklace, or sport a fun shoe color. I love wearing my red pumps with all black! The color really shines against the all black background. Happy Friday!

My first two nights of Fashion Houston have been amazing! The runway shows have been beautiful and inspiring for some new outfit ideas. I had to give you a little sneak peek of what I am wearing tonight because I am so in love with this skirt! As soon as I saw this skirt, I knew I would be wearing it to Fashion Houston. I love how you see the flashes of gold in between the pleats as you walk and move. Tonight is Girl’s Night Out for my friends and me with a visit to the VIP Lounge and possibly a stop by the Fashion Houston after party. This skirt was definitely made to move and dance the night away. I love the longer length of this skirt because you can easily wear this to an office Christmas party too. The best part of the skirt is the price tag, it is under $80!! The lower price helped me feel better about the fact that I probably will only wear this skirt a few times a year. Since the skirt is such a statement piece, I wanted to keep everything else I wore subtle. I paired with a black top and my only jewelry is a pair of gold earrings and a couple bracelets. This look is definitely red carpet ready! Tonight’s show features Rebecca Minkoff, Bibhu Mohapatra, and my local favorite and Project Runway winner Chloe Dao. Thanksgiving is always the kick off to holiday parties, and you do not want to forget the amazing people behind all of these fabulous parties. Part 2 of my holiday gift guide is all about the hostess. When deciding on the perfect gift, I like to think about not only the hostess but the type of party. If I am heading to a family event, I may grab a beautiful vase or a cool candle. For an all girl party like a Christmas Cookie Exchange, I may pick up something more feminine like a great smelling lotion or jewelry holder. For most parties, I love to bring one of my favorite bottles of wine and drink accessory like coasters, a fun decanter or wine accessories. I love keeping reusable wine gift bags on hand during the holidays too. Sometimes the holiday parties can stack up and being able to grab a cute bag and a bottle of wine is a quick and easy hostess gift solution.
