I kind of feel like from here until Christmas the sales really start popping up starting with the Friends and Family sales! One of my favorites from last year was the Shopbop Friends and Family sale. Almost everything on the site is 25% off excluding a few designer brands with code INTHEFAM25. I like Shopbop because they carry both high end designers like Monique Lhuillier (not included IN the sale) and more affordable brands like my favorite BB Dakota. I always try to be a responsible sale shopper and go in with a game plan. For the Shopbop sale, I’m looking for basics and statement pieces. I love spending a little extra on both of these items, so getting an additional 25% off is a nice bonus. The hardest decision for me was on the shoes. I love a good shoe sale! I have heard good things about the Schutz brand and have been dying to own a cute pair of mule shoes, so my final shoe decision was the cute gray mules. I live in my Paige Denim and love them. They have good durability to them and are worth the price tag in my opinion. I also included a pair of Blank Denim ones that are $66 after the promo code!
Shopping addict problem – I had way more items I wanted to share with you than would fit on my little style board, so I created two extra widgets below. One with some great basics from the sale, and one with statement pieces. Don’t forget this sale ends tonight, AND you have to enter code INTHEFAM25 at checkout for the 25% off!!

When I originally went boot shopping, I was looking for a casual pair I could wear with my skinny jeans. I wanted a pair that would have a little room between the jean and boot, and I wanted them to hit just below the knee. With such specific wants, I really wanted to be able to try boots on in the store and not just order online. On a lunch break one day, I swung by Nordstrom to do a little boot shopping. I picked out these boots because visually they seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, but the added surprise was how cute they looked with my work dress. I love the casual aspect they gave to my swing dresses. I think this floral dress is my favorite to pair with these boots. It reminiscent of a boho chic vibe, but it also reminds me of a fun look for some Texas County Fair style. I grew up attending our county fair every year, and the look for me had to me a good mix of stylish and practical. One of the fair activities included walking through the animal barn to see my friends and family and their farm animals. You don’t know what you might be stepping through, and you definitely do not wear cute shoes to that. A great pair of riding boots like these would have been so perfect back in my high school days!! The county fair was also a popular date night activity with rides, dances, and a good ole BBQ Cookoff. This dress is perfect for that cute and feminine aspect of a fair outfit. If you are ever in the Houston area around the end of September, I recommend checking out the Fort Bend County Fair! If you are in the Dallas area this time of year, definitely check out the Texas State Fair. I went last year for the first time, and it is a fun experience from seeing Big Tex to all the delicious fried food! I hear this year there is fried lobster with champagne gravy. If you have been and tried it, I’d love to know what you thought of it!!

Pretty Burgundy Shoes
| DETAILS |
FOXCROFT Geo Watercolor Tencel Shirt | DL1961 c/o Emma Jeans in Riker | SOLE SOCIETY Lux Ankle Strap Pump | GIGI NY All in One Bag | SWELL CAROLINE c/o Enamel Signature Bracelet | BAUBLEBAR Slim Hinge Bangle | GORJANA Aldridge Earrings, Mika Necklace, Taner Pave Bar Necklace | RAYBAN Aviator Sunglasses | FORMULA X BY SEPHORA Nail Color in Infinite
As promised last week, another look at these beautiful burgundy shoes with jeans. These are definitely a statement pair of shoes, so I kept the rest of my look black and white to let the shoes shine! So a little tip on skinny jeans, I cuff mine on the inside to create the always perfect length hem. I do have them altered so they are a good length with most heels, but since the strap on these is higher on the ankle I wanted them a little bit shorter. When I wear these shoes with a more casual look, I might roll the cuff to the outside. My favorite kind of look is dressed up casual. These shoes help me hit that style so easily. They are the perfect dressy heel that works perfect with skirts and dresses, but the color and suede material as well as the strap lines are perfect for fancying up a jeans and tee look. I went with my Foxcroft top because I love how it also has a dressy casual feel to it. I love using my jewelry to play off the geometric shapes on the shirt. I paired my Aldridge earrings and Mika necklace with this look because they had the same triangle shapes as my shirt design.

Flannel Shirts & Patent Flats
| DETAILS |
BP Plaid Flannel Shirt | LUCKY BRAND Lolita Skinny Jeans | YOSI SAMRA Patent Flats | MARC BY MARC JACOBS Preppy Hobo [SIMILAR | SIMILAR MARC JACOBS BAG | SAME BAG IN BLACK NYLON] | BAUBLEBAR Slim Hinge Bangle, Pavé Links Bracelet | GORJANA Mika Necklace | KENDRA SCOTT Skylar Earrings | RAY-BAN Aviator Sunglasses | IT COSMETICS Lip Creme Gloss in Love | FORMULA X BY SEPHORA Infinite Nail Color
I completely found this flannel shirt on accident! I went to Nordstrom to return a top that didn’t fit and decided to peruse the Juniors section first. By the way, don’t let the word Juniors scare you. BP and Lush make fabulous tops that work for all ages, and they have great prices, AND you have to go to the Juniors section of Nordstrom to find them! They had a pretty big selection of flannel shirts on the day I went and the color combo of this one stood out like a gem among the others. I love this navy blue/green color combo. I love pairing this combo with another jewel tone like my dark purple bag or possibly some burgundy or mustard yellow shoes. This shirt is really soft too. I love all plaids, but flannel versions just have a soft coziness to them. I decided to keep this look casual with my favorite black skinny jeans from last fall and my nude flats. By the way, these Yosi Samra flats are really comfortable. Like most leather or patent flats, they take a few wears to break them in, but once you do they are pretty comfy. They fold and fit in a little pouch they come with so you can toss them in a bag on days when you are breaking in other shoes and might need some foot relief. I tend to carry them around after a really hard leg day at the gym. I always think “I can totally wear heels today,” and then about two hours later I realize I was wrong and toss on these flats. We finally made it to the end of the week!! Happy Friday Ya’ll and thanks for stopping by the blog this week!!
