Remember last week, when I mentioned that cool weather finally seemed to be here. Well I was wrong!! Last Friday, we were in the 80s, this Friday the 50s, and next Friday is expected to be in the 80s! I can’t keep up from day to day what the weather will be, and sometimes I leave my house in the 40s and it’s 80 by lunch. I am officially in layer mode with my wardrobe! I have a growing collection of long cardigans that are perfect for this fluctuating weather. I own a few in gray and black, and wanted a more beige or cream colored one. I was all about adding basic wardrobe pieces during Black Friday, and this was one of those sale purchases. Apparently, I’m not the only lover of long cardigans because they sold out fast, but I linked some similar options for you above. I love to layer long cardigans over dresses for the office and jeans on weekends. They work great over tops like this tank I bought over the summer from J.Crew. When that mid-afternoon warmth hits, I can quickly take off my cardigan and fold it over my crossbody bag. This is one reason I sometimes prefer a cardigan to a jacket. Since they don’t have as much structure, they lay over a purse much nicer than a jacket.
I also picked up these jeans on Black Friday for only $100!! They aren’t that low anymore, but they are still majorly discounted! I have only worn them once, but they are really comfy and have just the right amount of stretch. I was looking for a lighter shade of blue than my regular ones, I call it normal denim blue. 🙂 I’m always a little nervous about the shading marks, but these are in just the right places that they work perfect for a slight slimming illusion. They also look super cute when cuffed with booties! The fit for me was true to my normal jean size too.
Thanks for swinging by the blog today and Happy Happy Friday!!
PS. Today is the LAST DAY for standard shipping at many stores for your Christmas gifts to arrive before Christmas! Some stores are already charging extra OR offering Free Expedited shipping with certain purchase price. Still looking for gift ideas? Check Out my Holiday Shop full of gift ideas!!
SHOP THE POST
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed that my outfit posts became shoppable thanks to LiketoKnow.it! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the program, I wanted to explain a little how it works and this post just wouldn’t fit in one of my photo captions. 🙂
LiketoKnow.it was designed for Instagram, so you never have to ask “Where did you get that?” again. It’s so easy to use! (And if you don’t have Instagram, I will share how you can still shop my #ootd posts)
Step 1: Sign Up with LiketoKnow.it by connecting your Instagram account and submitting your email on the LiketoKnow.it website.
Step 2: Like Instagram photos that contain the trio –> @liketoknow.it www.liketk.it/1ZlgD #liketkit
Step 3: Sit back and wait for your email to arrive with ready to shop picture links like this:
Yep, that’s it! Super easy! You can sign in the website at any time to view all your ‘liked’ photos and see the same shoppable links. AND you can also pin the photos to Pinterest so you can remember the ones you really love!
If you are worried about receiving yet another email, you can adjust your settings to receive the emails immediately, daily or weekly. I personally change up my settings between daily and immediately. Sometimes I’m bombarded with tons of emails in general and like to condense so I limit them, and other times I miss the immediate ability to shop before items sell out.
I have been using LiketoKnow.it personally for over a year and love it! The emails are so easy taking you directly to the store’s website to purchase. It’s a great way to stop thinking oh that’s cute, I wonder where it’s from!! On my account, I love being able to include sale information and different style options in my posts. The day I posted the above photo my purse was 30% off, and I love that I can let you know in case you have been eyeing it.
If this program sounds like something you need in your life, be sure to sign up at LiketoKnow.it and follow me (@karen.rock) on Instagram to start shopping my outfits. If you have any questions about the program, don’t hesitate to shoot me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) and I will be happy to answer them!
Now for those of you who don’t have Instagram, I’m going to start including Instagram Roundups here on the blog!! I’ll pick from some of my most popular and personal favorites to share all the details right here! TEN MORE DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! Yep that’s right, only 10 days!! It’s definitely crunch time for your online shopping orders unless you want to pay for expedited shipping. I’m helping you out with one last gift guide filled with gift ideas for the beauty lovers in your life. I love all the gift sets that come out around Christmas. It’s a great time to try minis of some of the top beauty brands for fractions of the price. Almost every type of beauty product has some sort of holiday gift set. A few of my favorites are the spa and mask type kits, lip, and nail kits. Some of these also make great ideas for gift exchanges or stocking stuffers! I included a few of my personal favorite beauty products in this guide. One of my beauty secrets to beautiful nails is this Dior Nail Glow. I wear nail polish a lot, like almost every day. The downside to this is that my nails sometimes have a yellowish stained tint, not the cutest. I use this Nail Glow when I want a natural nail look. It has a pink hue and gives the appearance of fresh natural manicure look. The pink helps cover up the yellow and even makes the white tip a little brighter. It’s a little on the pricey side for nail polish, but I think it’s worth it if you like to wear a natural nail look. I also included Essie nail polish which is my go-to brand for nail polish. Their polish only typically needs 2 coats and lasts for about 4ish days on my hands. If you are looking for a new scent, I love this Henri Bendel perfume. I’m really bad at describing scents, so you can check out the description on their site if you want a break down. I like that it doesn’t smell to sweet or fruity.
Now get going with the rest of your holiday shopping before you are paying $20 to have your gift arrive by Christmas!! If you need more gift ideas, check out my holiday gift guides page filled with ideas! Happy Shopping!

EVERLY Drop Waist Shift Dress (40% off!) | STEVE MADDEN Proto Heels (*ON SALE)| CLARE V Foldover Clutch [SIMILAR & UNDER $30!] | KENDRA SCOTT Harlie Necklace | BAUBLEBAR Aretha Drops, Slim Hinge Bangle, Pinnacle Cuff | RAYBAN Aviator Sunglasses | MAC Lipstick in Craving | ESSIE Nails in Master Plan
I love having a cute party ready shift dress in my closet during the holidays! Even though I make an effort to eat pretty healthy year round, something about the holidays makes me crave cookies, champagne, and party appetizers. A cute shift dress is perfect to hide any holiday over-indulgences. The drop waist ruffle trim really give this dress the party vibe. I like that it still has a modest feel to it too. It would be perfect to wear to church and then to your Christmas party, or would work well for an office party. I plan on wearing this dress out to events and probably work throughout the year.
I also have to mention some of my new jewelry pieces! I LOVE these earrings! My friend has had a similar pair for years, and I have always admired them. I love the fringe trim and the triangle shape. These are the kind of earrings you can wear with a dress or a plaid shirt and jeans. I also added this new cuff to my bracelet collection. I have had it on my Current Cravings selection for a few months, and decided to stop lusting after it and buy it during Cyber Monday. This bracelet looks perfect as a stand-alone, but also looks cute with the addition of a slim bracelet.
If you have any holiday online shopping to do, I would definitely look at placing your orders over the next couple days! Many online retailers will end their free shipping by Christmas this week, and you will have to start paying extra. If you still need some last minute ideas, check out my Holiday Gift Guides!
