My favorite fall shoe is hands down taupe booties! The hardest part of putting this little shop guide together was not buying all eight of these! My biggest recommendation if you are wanting a pair of taupe booties is buy now!! This shade sells out so quick and soon sizes and styles will start disappearing if they haven’t already. Fringe is hot right now, so I included a couple pairs with fringe on them. I like how it is on the side and kind of subtle. The Joie are obviously the splurge shoe of the list, but I saw these in person and they are just so gorgeous! I definitely want to get a peep toe bootie this fall, because in Texas fall is still warm enough for an open toe shoe. I haven’t decided if I want this color or black, so I haven’t purchased one yet. For all my petite ladies out there, look for booties that have a slight dip in the front to wear with dresses. The dip helps to not create the strong cutoff line when you wear with a dress and gives a longer leg illusion.

I’m also excited to announce that I am finally done with my blog re-design! Okay, I will probably still move things around here and there, but overall everything is pretty set. I was really excited to find an affordable pre-fab design from Leap Design. Pre-fab means I picked from one of their pre-made designs and then installed myself. I was a little nervous about the install myself part, but it was so easy!! I seriously set aside a whole weekend to switch and was done in a few hours. I spent all of August playing with my side bar and my new bottom bar. I love having all the new spaces to work with. I love that I was able to add a Current Cravings section to the bottom of my page, so you can see what items are on my shopping wish list. It connects to a shop wish list I have online, how cool is that! Leap Design also does custom work too. Their blog resume list is quite impressive with Dallas Wardrobe, Devon Rachel, and What Courtney Wore to just name a few. But if you aren’t quite ready to spend hundreds on a design, you should definitely check out their pre-fab designs. They have some really cute ones!
In addition to my blog re-design, my subscriber newsletter received a face-lift too. In addition to receiving new posts straight to your inbox, I have also started to include giveaway reminders, special discounts including some that only will be in the newsletter, invites to Houston events, and eventually I hope to include sneak peeks of what will be coming soon to Lady in Violet. The email only goes out on days when I do a blog post. If you would like to receive the newsletter, you can subscribe HERE.

One of my favorite accessories for fall weddings is a great scarf. Most wedding start early in the evening when the weather is still warm and end late into the night when the cool fall breezes have found their way in. As an alternative to a light sweater or jacket, I love to carry a scarf that can be worn for the entire event. I love how this scarf looks draped against the dress in what is probably the easiest way to wear a scarf!! For the evening, it is as simple as opening it up and creating a shawl to keep you warm. While I do own a couple solid color scarves for just this occasion, I have fallen in love with these scarves from Manoosh. Every scarf is based on an abstract work of art. I love how every way I wear and style the scarf, I see a new set of colors and a new design. For a wedding or evening party, this scarf paired with a blue, purple or black dress would be perfect. To add more versatility to the scarf, you can also pair it with just a plain old tee, boots, and jeans.
In honor of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, Manoosh has partnered with the Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation to create this scarf called the “Susan Scarf,” named in memory of the foundation’s namesake and creator, who passed away last year. All proceeds from the sale of the Susan Scarf support ovarian cancer awareness and research through the Susan Poorman Blackie Ovarian Cancer Foundation. For my Houston readers, I would love to invite you out to an amazing event next Wednesday to celebrate the launch of the Susan Scarf. You can see more of Manoosh’s amazing scarves created from the art of Marilyn Biles at the event. Tootsies and my Houston blogger friend, author and ovarian cancer survivor Megan Silianoff will be hosting the cocktail party which will feature bites from B&B Butchers and live sketching by fashion illustrator, Rongrong DeVoe. I have attached the event flyer with more info and the RSVP information. I hope to see you there!

I love a long weekend! Outside of a family dinner and church, I have barely left the house this weekend. With such a busy schedule lately, I am taking full advantage of having no plans this holiday weekend and getting tons done around the house. I have been doing some fall cleaning lately and plan to continue it into my little stay-cation coming up later this week. If you use Poshmark, my fall cleaning has led to some adds to my Poshmark closet! I will probably be adding more soon, because today I am taking advantage of some Labor Day Sales and need some space in my closet! Of course, I am doing this all online because I’m kind of enjoying spending the long weekend in my pjs. At the end of this post, I listed some of the sales going on at a few of the stores I like to shop. Also, like every department store (including my personal favorite, Nordstrom) is having some kind of sale this weekend from end of summer clearance deals to fall style sales.
For those of you venturing out, I wanted to share a fun double denim All-American look that would be perfect for this goodbye summer, hello fall holiday. Denim on denim is such a great classic style and very on trend, popular look right now. I like to use a lighter top and a darker bottom to create a stark contrast between the two. My top is from local Houston boutique, Wildbloom, but I also linked some similar tops. During the fall when I can’t really wear my wedges anymore on weekends, I like to pull out my flats. I picked up these gorgeous burgundy ones from Tieks over the summer. They have ballet flats in like every color you could imagine! If you are a college or pro-football tailgater, these color options could be your solution to cute team supporting shoes that also can trek comfortably through a stadium or parking lot. I really love this burgundy/dark red color. I chose this color because I knew it would work really well in fall and winter when I primarily wear flats, but the baby pink ones were a super close second. Since my look is all blue denim, I love adding a pop of color with my shoes. I have to mention this necklace real quick too. It is my long pendant necklace from this post, but re-hooked to create a shorter look. When I originally was shopping for this necklace, I was torn between this and a similar necklace that sat higher to the neckline. As soon as the saleswoman told me I could wear this both ways, I was sold!! This necklace was a summer style and color so it is selling quick and is currently on sale!!
Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday and don’t forget to check out some of the fun sales below!!
