I had a fabulous time on my girls’ getaway in Galveston this past weekend!! I braved the paddle board for the first time in the bay canal, super scary but fun! I’m such a sun baby, so I loved all the time we spent walking on the beach, kayaking, and just laying out on the deck reading good books. Although, my weekend did start out a bit crazy. I was driving down alone and got a flat tire just shy of Galveston. Thankfully, two of my friends were about 20 minutes behind me, so I didn’t have to be alone for too long!! I have to give a huge thanks to them and the most awesome good Samaritan/stranger for rescuing me and changing my tire on Friday! Not the perfect start to the weekend, but one where you sit back and count your blessings for great friends and the kindness of strangers. 🙂
My bestie also snapped some fun blog photos for me this weekend which I will start posting later this week!! We are currently in the middle of a major heat wave here in Houston. The high today is 104!!!!!! I love my sun and warm weather, but all these 100+ days have me dreaming of slightly cooler fall weather. The kind that is perfect for light dresses and booties. I have a major obsession with these Naughty Monkey booties!! I bought them last year, and they are still available!! I love pairing them with dresses. They remind me a little of like miniature cowboy boots. Also, they are super comfy! I wore them to the airport last winter and walked in them all day with no problems. This dress is one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, but it sold out before the sale opened to the public. I went ahead and linked it just in case some come back in stock. I love casual and easy dresses like this one. On weekends, I love having something like this to throw on to run errands or meet up with friends and family. I can’t wait to wear this dress later in the fall with tall boots too. It is definitely a dress that works with a variety of shoes like booties, tall boots, flats, and wedges. The versatility makes this dress more wearable across several seasons, a favorite aspect for me.

Casual and comfy not only describes this outfit, but how I plan to be dressed all weekend long! I am heading down to Galveston for a fun and relaxing girls’ weekend! I look forward to this weekend every year. It’s filled with lots of sun, wine, games, and girl talk. This dolman tee is always a beach staple for me. I love being able to toss it on over my swimsuit as a coverup with some distressed shorts. The material is lightweight and oversized so it works perfectly at night to sip wine on the deck when the water breezes can make it a bit cooler. I purchased this color combo a couple years ago, but it is still available in other shades. The mineral and heather white is my personal favorite. Much like the last time I ventured down to Galveston, my wardrobe this time will be casual and relaxed. Sandals like these are a must! Thanks to our 100 degree weather, these shorts are getting some good use this year. I purchased them at an end of summer sale last year, but I linked some similar options for you. I liked these because they were a bit longer than some shorts I have seen. Distressed shorts already have rips that reveal a little skin so I don’t want them to also be overly short. I think there is something about showing just the right amount of skin in these types of shorts. I tried to make sure the ones I linked were also on the “longer” side. How excited am I about my new light blue jeans? Enough that I’m sharing them two posts in a row! This French Connection top is a few years old, and one that finds itself in frequent rotation every summer. I love all the fun colors in it. I linked some other striped tops that I like, but you have to check out the last one. The colorful stripes on that one are amazing!! I have definitely noticed stripes increasing in my closet. I consider it kind of like a neutral print. It mixes well with solids and with other prints like florals. I also can’t believe how much wear I am getting out of these white sandals. I love that the white is neutral so it mixes with everything, but it also is a little different and stands out. I love looking back at the end of a season at what my favorite seasonal purchases were. My sandals and jeans are definitely top of the list, and this bag is definitely up there too! All three of these pieces are going to be around for a few years. I love knowing that I shopped smart this summer and added some great long-lasting and versatile pieces to my summer wardrobe. What have been some of your favorite summer wardrobe adds? I have talked a bit about the Nordstrom Fall Sale which sadly ended yesterday, but another big sale going on in all stores right now is end of summer clearances! Both my top and jeans are on sale as part of end of summer clearance sales!! I picked up yet another pair of Lucky jeans, yeah I’m obsessed with them. I bought these the same time I bought the white denim from this post. I actually went to the store because I really wanted a pair of light blue skinny jeans, but I wanted to see the color in person. The white pair just happened to be on the same sale table and I had been considering another white pair, so I picked them up too. I love my skinny jeans, but my darker ones just were not working for some of my summer outfits. I really wanted a lighter wash. I had a shade idea in my head which kind of made it hard to find the right pair. Most I looked at were super faded bordering on white, or just a little too blue. I like this pair because they have a natural faded look to them which was exactly what I was going for. I totally felt like Goldilocks looking for just the right color. 🙂
So this month, I asked my Rocksbox stylist for some pieces with color, and she delivered! I could not believe how much I wore the Margaret Elizabeth bracelet. It is a cuff so perfect for my smaller wrists. I loved wearing it with my neutral summer looks to add just a little bit of color. The same went for this fun pendant necklace. I also loved pairing the two pieces for a little color mixing action too. I paired them with pinks and colorful prints. I love using Rocksbox to experiment with new styles of jewelry, and these two pieces have me wanting to add more fun colorful jewelry to my collection!
As you can probably tell, my cosmetic blog upgrade went smoothly over the weekend!! I am so in love with the new look!!! I’ll be sharing a little more about my new look in a future post. I am still making a few tweaks and adjustments here and there, so I want to wait until I have things mostly in order. Happy Monday Ya’ll!!
