This is one of my favorite shift dresses to wear in spring and summer! I have worn it on the blog before, but I LOVED the light blue and yellow together so I decided to share it again. This shift dress comes in several different colors too, if light blue isn’t your fave. One of my favorite things about this dress is that I don’t have to iron it. 🙂 There are so many mornings when I think ooh I will wear this top or dress, and then I pull it out of my closet and it’s wrinkled. So I put it back in my closet for that rare day when I’m not running behind and have time to iron. It’s a big reason why I LOVE anything that doesn’t need ironing. It’s a guarantee grab and go dress.
For work, I normally pair this with my nude pumps, but I wanted to make this as a fun little weekend look. I would rock this look to brunch or a shower. I love how these yellow fringe sandals take this dress from just a regular old baby blue shift dress to a fun and bright ready for mimosas look. I opted to tie the tassels in the front for this look, because I like the added detail with the short dress. With two bold colors, I decided to pair with my white crossbody bag. I just love how the white really brings out and brightens the other colors in this outfit!
Have a great day ya’ll! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Hey Friends! I hope ya’ll had a wonderful weekend!! I decided to avoid the malls and did all my sale shopping online in my pajamas with coffee in hand this weekend. Even though I love going to the store to shop and browse, there is just something about being able to shop in my pjs that is fabulous!! I had a pretty wonderful Easter too. I went over to my Grandma’s, ate too much food, and then threw confetti eggs at family members. 🙂 I’m pretty sure I may still have some rogue confetti in my hair today. Overall it was a pretty relaxing weekend!
I purchased this long cardigan last Thursday, and it’s so incredibly soft and comfy that I decided to wear it to work on Friday. I have a major thing for cozy long cardigans. Our weather took a cool turn last week, so this bright blue cardigan was perfect for the cool spring weather. This color is also ON SALE, this little sale price was also why I bought it in pink too. I like that it’s more of a lightweight cardigan, so I can wear it to the office in spring and summer. It also comes in a few other colors, but not all of them are on sale right now. I really like the two colors on sale, because they are such fun and bright colors. I own lots of neutrals, so I like to have a few pop of color pieces to toss on.
By the way, I found my sleeveless top available again. The color is slightly lighter than what I have on, but it is on sale. I hope ya’ll have a great week, and check back Wednesday because I styled my fun fringe sandals with a favorite spring dress of mine. See ya’ll then!

Happy Friday!! I am ready for the weekend!! It is full force allergy season in Houston, the weather girl literally said “If you have allergies, just don’t go outside” in her forecast this week. I only get headaches when the allergy weather is bad, but headaches are still no fun! I did wake up this morning headache free though, so I am ready for some weekend fun! I have plans for family time on Sunday and spring shopping on Saturday! I have a vacation coming up in a few weeks, and I want to buy a few new things for it.
While I am definitely a believer of wear what you love not necessarily what is on trend, I still follow along because what is on trend is what is in store. I am currently in love with many of the current spring trends. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share a few of my favorite spring trends and how I make them work for my style. One trend right now is flared jeans. I am not going to go full big bell bottom flare, because I think they throw off my proportions since I’m a shortie. I do however embrace this trend with my bootcut jeans. I love the slightly flared look of a bootcut jean. I always pair mine with some type of shoe with height whether it be a heel or a wedge. I think the added height really helps with the proportions between my 5’3 height and the flared leg. If you want to go full flare and you are short, I recommend pairing with a shoe with some height.
Flared jeans are fun because you can dress them up or down. I opted to dress this pair down with my mixed media tunic. This top comes in a bunch of different colors, but I really love this dark gray. It is a great basic staple top. I also wear it with pencil skirts for work. I added a punch of color with my bright pink bag which is on sale by the way! This round of silver accessories is my go to for an easy jewelry look. I love the platinum drusy and slate stone from Kendra Scott. I also own the slate gold version of these earrings and the platinum drusy stud earrings. They are great colors that work in so many different ways.
I hope ya’ll have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter! Thank you for swinging by the blog this week!!

Skincare in Your 30s
This post is in collaboration with The Blog Societies and Clinique. All opinions are 100% my own! Thanks for supporting the brands that support Lady in Violet!
Ever since I received my first facial last year, I have really wanted to improve my skincare routine. While some of the products have changed, my routine has pretty much been the same since high school. My skin isn’t sixteen anymore, and I definitely needed a new routine.
I first learned about skin care products like moisturizers and toners from the Clinique counter when I was in high school. It seemed like a no brainer to head back to them on my quest to update my skincare routine for my 30 year old skin. Skincare in your 30s is tricky because now I have little wrinkles popping up and my skin tone has become a little uneven in areas.
When looking for a new skincare routine, I wanted something simple because right now my current routine is a bit lazy. I need something quick and easy that fit into my busy schedule. One of the main things I liked about the Clinique Smart system is that the products target several issues all at once. The products are designed to know and target your issues like my new fine lines and uneven skin tone. I’m now using 3 products on my face at night which at first made me nervous. I mean that is two extra steps for me. The transition was surprisingly pretty seamless. I also started seeing results pretty soon after starting the Clinique Smart system.
I wanted to share a little bit about my new morning and night routine with these products, in case you are super new to the skin care game like me. You aren’t going to believe how simple it is.
In the mornings, I apply the custom repair serum on my face. With all but the eye treatment, I use what I call the war paint method. I do two pumps of this serum in my hand, and then swipe the product with my fingers on my forehead, each cheek and chin. I then proceed to rub the product in, starting at my cheeks and moving around my face. I learned awhile back not to rub the product between your hands because most of the product will be absorbed by your hands. This really helps the serums and lotions last longer. I apply any excess product to my neck, because I have read to never forget your neck when moisturizing. You don’t want a 20 year old face, and a 40 year old neck. 🙂
The serum goes on pretty light. Most days I fix my hair and then apply the moisturizer with that same war paint method. I start with a little moisturizer and add more if needed, so I don’t end up with too much. On days I forget to do the serum early because my coffee hasn’t kicked in, the lotion works fine to add directly over the serum. The custom repair moisturizer has a broad spectrum SPF15 too. One of my main daytime moisturizer requirements is for some sort of sun protection. I like that this one is broad spectrum, basically it means it’s blocking both UVA and UVB rays. I then follow the moisturizer with my normal makeup routine. A pretty easy change to my mornings.
My night routine was the one I was worried about though. I can be pretty lazy when I’m tired. I was worried applying three products would take forever, spoiler alert – it didn’t. After I wash my face, I applied the treatment oil. I recommend only using this at night, because it does take longer to absorb and may not look so great under makeup. I follow this up with the eye treatment. I apply one pump under my eye and at the crow’s feet wrinkle area. If I have leftover, I spread just under my eyebrow. I really think this product has lightened up my under eye. I have even been skipping concealer. I like to wait a minute or two here before applying the moisturizer if I have time. I then finish up my night routine with the custom repair night moisturizer and head to bed. Yes, that’s it. Simple and Easy. It makes me laugh because I imagined this would add like 20 minutes to my night routine. I think it added like two minutes, maybe.
I’m really excited to keep up this routine and see how the products continue to improve my skin. I am noticing an improvement in skin tone which was a big one for me. Goodbye concealer! I don’t remember exactly how far in, but one morning I woke up and noticed my skin looking so much more hydrated. It really caught me off guard a bit, because I never thought my skin could look hydrated. One of those you don’t realize it until you see the change moments. I have also noticed my forehead wrinkles are slowly becoming less noticeable. Look out 20’s, I’m coming back!
If you have any questions about these products or my new skin care routine, leave me a comment or shoot me an email. I will be happy to answer!
