Happy Friday!! I am ready for the weekend!! It is full force allergy season in Houston, the weather girl literally said “If you have allergies, just don’t go outside” in her forecast this week. I only get headaches when the allergy weather is bad, but headaches are still no fun! I did wake up this morning headache free though, so I am ready for some weekend fun! I have plans for family time on Sunday and spring shopping on Saturday! I have a vacation coming up in a few weeks, and I want to buy a few new things for it.
While I am definitely a believer of wear what you love not necessarily what is on trend, I still follow along because what is on trend is what is in store. I am currently in love with many of the current spring trends. Over the next few weeks, I’ll share a few of my favorite spring trends and how I make them work for my style. One trend right now is flared jeans. I am not going to go full big bell bottom flare, because I think they throw off my proportions since I’m a shortie. I do however embrace this trend with my bootcut jeans. I love the slightly flared look of a bootcut jean. I always pair mine with some type of shoe with height whether it be a heel or a wedge. I think the added height really helps with the proportions between my 5’3 height and the flared leg. If you want to go full flare and you are short, I recommend pairing with a shoe with some height.
Flared jeans are fun because you can dress them up or down. I opted to dress this pair down with my mixed media tunic. This top comes in a bunch of different colors, but I really love this dark gray. It is a great basic staple top. I also wear it with pencil skirts for work. I added a punch of color with my bright pink bag which is on sale by the way! This round of silver accessories is my go to for an easy jewelry look. I love the platinum drusy and slate stone from Kendra Scott. I also own the slate gold version of these earrings and the platinum drusy stud earrings. They are great colors that work in so many different ways.
I hope ya’ll have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter! Thank you for swinging by the blog this week!!
Oh and if you plan on doing any shopping this weekend too, I wanted to pass along a few SALES I plan on checking out this weekend!

Skincare in Your 30s
This post is in collaboration with The Blog Societies and Clinique. All opinions are 100% my own! Thanks for supporting the brands that support Lady in Violet!

Ever since I received my first facial last year, I have really wanted to improve my skincare routine. While some of the products have changed, my routine has pretty much been the same since high school. My skin isn’t sixteen anymore, and I definitely needed a new routine.
I first learned about skin care products like moisturizers and toners from the Clinique counter when I was in high school. It seemed like a no brainer to head back to them on my quest to update my skincare routine for my 30 year old skin. Skincare in your 30s is tricky because now I have little wrinkles popping up and my skin tone has become a little uneven in areas.

When looking for a new skincare routine, I wanted something simple because right now my current routine is a bit lazy. I need something quick and easy that fit into my busy schedule. One of the main things I liked about the Clinique Smart system is that the products target several issues all at once. The products are designed to know and target your issues like my new fine lines and uneven skin tone. I’m now using 3 products on my face at night which at first made me nervous. I mean that is two extra steps for me. The transition was surprisingly pretty seamless. I also started seeing results pretty soon after starting the Clinique Smart system.
I wanted to share a little bit about my new morning and night routine with these products, in case you are super new to the skin care game like me. You aren’t going to believe how simple it is.

In the mornings, I apply the custom repair serum on my face. With all but the eye treatment, I use what I call the war paint method. I do two pumps of this serum in my hand, and then swipe the product with my fingers on my forehead, each cheek and chin. I then proceed to rub the product in, starting at my cheeks and moving around my face. I learned awhile back not to rub the product between your hands because most of the product will be absorbed by your hands. This really helps the serums and lotions last longer. I apply any excess product to my neck, because I have read to never forget your neck when moisturizing. You don’t want a 20 year old face, and a 40 year old neck. 🙂

The serum goes on pretty light. Most days I fix my hair and then apply the moisturizer with that same war paint method. I start with a little moisturizer and add more if needed, so I don’t end up with too much. On days I forget to do the serum early because my coffee hasn’t kicked in, the lotion works fine to add directly over the serum. The custom repair moisturizer has a broad spectrum SPF15 too. One of my main daytime moisturizer requirements is for some sort of sun protection. I like that this one is broad spectrum, basically it means it’s blocking both UVA and UVB rays. I then follow the moisturizer with my normal makeup routine. A pretty easy change to my mornings.

My night routine was the one I was worried about though. I can be pretty lazy when I’m tired. I was worried applying three products would take forever, spoiler alert – it didn’t. After I wash my face, I applied the treatment oil. I recommend only using this at night, because it does take longer to absorb and may not look so great under makeup. I follow this up with the eye treatment. I apply one pump under my eye and at the crow’s feet wrinkle area. If I have leftover, I spread just under my eyebrow. I really think this product has lightened up my under eye. I have even been skipping concealer. I like to wait a minute or two here before applying the moisturizer if I have time. I then finish up my night routine with the custom repair night moisturizer and head to bed. Yes, that’s it. Simple and Easy. It makes me laugh because I imagined this would add like 20 minutes to my night routine. I think it added like two minutes, maybe.

I’m really excited to keep up this routine and see how the products continue to improve my skin. I am noticing an improvement in skin tone which was a big one for me. Goodbye concealer! I don’t remember exactly how far in, but one morning I woke up and noticed my skin looking so much more hydrated. It really caught me off guard a bit, because I never thought my skin could look hydrated. One of those you don’t realize it until you see the change moments. I have also noticed my forehead wrinkles are slowly becoming less noticeable. Look out 20’s, I’m coming back!

If you have any questions about these products or my new skin care routine, leave me a comment or shoot me an email. I will be happy to answer!

I did it! I finally pulled the trigger and bought these shoes!! They went on sale last week to under $100, and I could not resist! I originally thought I was going to order either the beige or red ones, but I ended up going with the yellow. I LOVE these shoes! When picking a color I decided on yellow because I thought it was fun and different. I mean if I am going to by fun fringe sandals, why not buy them in a fun color too!
I wore almost this exact outfit to a blogger brunch this weekend, but I wore this black top. I was able to test out these shoes, so I can give you an early review. When I first put them on, they were a bit different to walk in. They reminded me a bit of mule feel. I did realize that it helps to tie the laces a little tighter to give you more support, and it makes it easier to walk. When I first tied them, one was looser and I could really tell a difference. By the end of the brunch and after walking around in them a bit more, I did find it easier to walk. I don’t own many shoes in this style, so I think I just needed to adjust to it.
I ordered my normal size on these, and they fit perfectly! You can tie the fringe tassels to be either front or back. Don’t worry these babies will be on the blog plenty over the next few months, so you will get to see them tied to the front too. I really like them both ways, but I do think tied front is cuter. I tied them front for the brunch and really liked how it peeked out of the jeans.
I just wrote a whole lot about just a pair of shoes! 🙂 For the rest of this outfit, I went pretty neutral with my top and bottom because I really wanted my shoes to stand out. I love mixing colors, and I love how the yellow looks with the maroon and purple of my jewelry. One of the reasons I opted for yellow is because of all the color mixing options. I can picture these shoes with bright neon type colors this summer and jewel tones for early fall.
I hope ya’ll had a great weekend! In addition to my blogger brunch, I started Spring cleaning my closet. I made some really good progress and re-organized it a bit. I still have more work to do, but I love how it is coming along! Is anyone else planning a big spring cleaning project this year??

We made it to Friday!!! I love Spring weekends, because for a few months you can enjoy the outdoors in Texas, patio weather as we like to call it. I have a few fun little blogger events this weekend, but I also have some prosecco chilling in the fridge for a little quiet time on my back patio! I’m hoping our Easter weather will be similar next weekend. We love to sit outside in my Grandma’s backyard after lunch.
I wore this look to my cousin’s bridal shower a couple week ago, and it would make such a cute Easter outfit. I was nervous to wear denim to a shower, because I feel like you should always wear a dress. I think it’s just because I like any excuse to wear a dress, because plenty of people wear jeans to a shower. This whole look started with this top. A few days before the shower, I purchased it from Anthropologie. I was immediately drawn to the orange color, because you just don’t always see this kind of bright orange color. It also comes in a pretty pastel blue too. I love the little lace details and flutter sleeve. I knew this was going to be one of those tops I could wear in the hottest part of summer.
I also knew it would look super cute with white denim. Deep down I knew this outfit would be perfect for a bridal shower, so I decided to let go of my dresses only rule. Well compromise by dressing up denim with a cute pair of heels and some gold jewelry. I opted to go without a necklace because of the lace detail on the chest. I went with long drop earrings and my big cuff to fancy my look up a bit. I really like these pointy toe pumps to add a sophisticated elegance to the outfit. It made the look feel more dressed up.
Before you head out on this Fabulous Friday, I wanted to let you know that Tory Burch is have a huge Private Sale HERE. Tory Burch is a little bit pricey, so I usually wait for a sale to shop. I wanted to pass along in case you are the same way. The sale is limited quantities, so if you love it buy it quick! The wedges I wanted were already sold out by the time I arrived home from work yesterday. 🙁
Have a great weekend ya’ll, and I hope this week you found some outfit inspiration for Easter Weekend!
