My fall outfits this month were a direct reflection of the mix of cool and warm weather including some sweaters and some tank tops. Now that we are heading into a cooler month, I’m predicting you will see more layered fall outfits in the next roundup.

How To Wear Bright Colors in the Fall
Today is a big day for the blog. Six years ago, I hit publish on my first blog post and started on the most amazing adventure. Y’all it does not feel like it has been 6 years at all. I’ve enjoyed putting together all the fabulous fashion and beauty posts over the years. I can’t wait to continue to grow and evolve Lady in Violet, and I thank you for stopping by every week to see what’s going on over here. I’ve been brainstorming and working on some exciting new posts, goals, and ideas for the future of the blog. I can’t wait to see what adventures the next six years hold!
Now let’s get to the topic we all love to discuss – fashion! When fall hits, I know I start grabbing for my darker and jewel toned colors. Just because we are in the heart of fall does not mean you can’t still style those bright summer colors. I’m sharing five different ways to style a bright color in the fall season. I styled all of these with my bright blue sweater, but these would work for all of your summer brights.
HOW TO WEAR BRIGHT COLORS IN FALL
WITH DARK BLUE JEANS & BOOTIES
Dark blue jeans are my go to must have jean for fall. It works well with all the colors. It provides the dark contrast needed for bright colors to ease them into fall.

WITH BLACK JEANS & BROWN BOOTS
Another staple providing great contrast to bright colors is a pair of black jeans. Brown leather boots are another great pairing to help compliment the bright color.

WITH WHITE JEANS & TAN BOOTS
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t pull out those white jeans. White pants are the perfect way to make those bright colors really pop. For shoes, look for a light colored boot or bootie to simulate a winter white type look.

WITH A PLAID SKIRT
Plaid skirts are perfect for pairing with bright colors. You can find a dark or neutral plaid like this black and white skirt to add contrast or opt for a plaid skirt that also has your bright color in the plaid. When doing a color match, I prefer the matching color to be a minor color in the plaid print.

WITH GRAY JEANS & BLACK BOOTS
Gray jeans are a fun neutral color jean to have in your denim arsenal. The cool color of this sweater and cool tone of the gray work to compliment each other perfectly.

Seven Ways to Style a Swing Dress for Fall
Hello Hello! It’s been a busy few days over on the home front. Over the weekend, we drove out to my mom’s to pick up our temporary kitchen table. We haven’t really found the one yet, and my sister offered to let us borrow the one she didn’t need anymore. I’m really excited one to finally have a kitchen table, but also that the pressure to find the perfect table is relaxed a little. Since we now have something, we can spend a little more time searching for the perfect one.
I also ordered a small table for our entry way. I really wanted a navy table for the space which turned out is really hard to find. A few months ago, I found the perfect one at Target but it was sold out. I’ve been stalking it since and it came back in stock this week!! Every time we cross an item off the list, I feel like our place is transforming even more into our perfect little home. I will have to do a home post soon to share some of what we’ve done and purchased.
Alright now that all the exciting home news is out of the way, let’s talk fashion! I love a swing dress. The flowy style make them so comfy and perfect for days spent more at home. You can also easily transform them into multiple styles with a few style swaps. This burgundy swing dress is also a sweater dress so it adds a little bit of warmth. I also love that it came with a matching slip, since I find most sweater dresses need something underneath.

WITH A DENIM JACKET AND OVER THE KNEE BOOTS
A denim jacket is a staple in my closet for fall and spring. It’s the perfect layering piece for a causal outfit. With the shorter length of this dress, my OTK boots were the perfect pairing.

WITH A BLAZER AND HEELS
Work day ready with the quick addition of a fitted blazer and snakeskin heels. Since this dress is crewneck and one solid color, I also added a long necklace to add a little something to the overall look.

WITH A LEATHER JACKET & TALL BOOTS
For a dressy but still kinda casual look, a leather jacket and boots are perfect. This outfit would be perfect for Thanksgiving dinner!

WITH A CARDIGAN & BOOTIES
I think swing dresses are so comfy, so adding a long and cozy cardigan is just what this casual outfit needs. Opt for a contrasting color option.

Six Ways to Wear a Military Jacket
I’ve tried on so many military style jackets over the years, but I never pulled the trigger on any of them. I was worried I wouldn’t wear it enough. So when I found this gorgeous lace trimmed one, I sat down and made a list of all the ways I could wear it. Below are just six of the ways that I thought of all perfect for the fall season from date night, casual fall outfits, and holiday dinners. I styled it with heels and boots and booties, with plaids and solid neutrals and pops of color. Whether you’ve been thinking of picking up on of these or already have on hanging in your closet, I hope you found some new outfit ideas!

WITH PLAID AND BOOTS
This is probably my favorite of the six. I chose a plaid that was complimentary to the jacket color, all being darker fall colors.

An easy way to create a dressy casual look add simple solid cami and heels. I chose to my floral print heels to add pop of color and print to the look. This outfit would be perfect for date night, dinner with friends, or casual Friday at the ofice.

WITH A POP OF COLOR AND BOOTIES
I pulled a few different colors to pair with this jacket, but this dark dusty rose is my top choice. I love how the two earth tones work together. Other colors I tried – yellow and purple.

WITH A FITTED TANK TOP AND HEELS
One of the popular ways to style this jacket is with a fitted tank top and jeans. I added a pop of print with my snakeskin heels.
