We made it to Friday ya’ll!! Seriously shortest weeks always feel so much longer! I have a long to do list to conquer this weekend, and I booked myself for TWO spin classes because I am a crazy person. 🙂 I just have to get through this work day first though.
When I originally purchased this white tunic, a winter layered outfit like this one was exactly what I had in mind. I really wanted a long top for that perfect layered effect, and I needed it to be long enough to pair with a variety of sweaters. Because this top is so long and I am so short, I paired it with my skinny jeans and a pair of heels. It helps to keep everything in proportion and doesn’t let the look swallow my shape or size. Also, can we talk about this navy and gray color combo!?!?! Every time I find a new color to match with my gray jeans, I think why did I wait so long! I’m sure it will not be long before I am ordering a second pair, maybe a shade or two lighter for spring and summer.

Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend ringing in 2017. I started the year off on the right foot with a morning trip to the gym and a day filled with healthy meals and a little leftover champagne. I mean I couldn’t let the bubbles go to waste. 🙂
January and February are typically our coldest months, but I’m starting to wonder if our winter will continue to have these warmer days. I have been leaning towards lots of layered looks lately. I wanted to share a few of my personal tips to creating the perfect warm winter outfit. While it is all about the layering, what makes up those layers is really important. This weather is not super abnormal for Texas, probably why I love long cardigans so much. They are great layering piece right now. You can toss them over a dress or pencil skirt and blouse for work or pair them with jeans for a casual weekend look. I typically go for neutral colors so they can work with anything, but I couldn’t resist this gorgeous burgundy one!
The biggest layer to pay attention to is the top you wear under the cardigan. I go with something lightweight like this tunic that can work as an outfit without the cardigan if the weather warms up too much.This is the same top that I own in olive and wear all the time. I decided to add the white version mainly for the purpose of layering it with sweaters and cardigans. You can also pull out some of your lightweight summer tops for this layer too. The right floral print would look perfect with this look.
I typically save my riding boots for colder days, but occasionally I just can’t resist them when the calendar says winter. To make sure I don’t overheat my feet, I stick to a thinner pair of socks. If you want to dress up this casual look, add some heels or a sparkly statement maker like this necklace.
I’m excited for one more relaxing day off before heading back to work, even if it does rain all day. I have a few gift cards and some amazing sales to keep me busy. Happy Cyber Monday!! I made this post two parts – an outfit for those of you so over all the sale info and a HUGE sales list for those of you still looking for all the great deals. But first, let’s talk about this outfit.
This sweater popped up in the “things you might like” section when I was looking at another item, and I was immediatly smitten with it. From a distance, this sweater almost looks solid red, but up close and personal you see the cool black and red striped details. I knew this would be the perfect red Christmas sweater, if the weather allows. It was freezing the morning, I took these photos, so I can say with confidence that this sweater will keep you warm. It’s a pretty thick sweater and oh so cozy!
Since I lean more towards comfy, cozy on holidays, I styled this sweater with boots and jeans. For something a bit dressier, I would go with leather leggings and my lace up heels. The funnel neck on this makes it hard to pair with a necklace, so I went with cute drop earrings instead. I also added my sparkliest bracelet to add a little glam to the look.

I love mixing together cozy and edgy pieces. This sweater is slightly oversized and so freaking comfortable! It also has pockets which for some reason just make me so happy. This sweater is adorable with jeans and riding boots, but I really wanted to find a way to create something a bit dressier with chic edge to it. Enter my favorite pair of leather leggings.
Ya’ll these are the BEST faux leather leggings. I bought mine last year, and they are back again this season. These leggings are so amazing because underneath that leather like coating is a scuba material legging. This means they fit and feel just like a regular old pair of black leggings, but the coating give the look of leather. I have tried on pairs that felt sticky, or too suctioning, or that showed off a leg dimple or two. I have had no issues with these, and I wore them tons last year. See how HERE and HERE. I mentioned washing them last year, but for those of you newbie readers. I wash these in a regular laundry load and hang dry. So far, I have had no issues with peeling or anything that sometimes happens to other faux leather items.
