Every so often, you stumble across that perfect how did I survive without you item.  This Mango shift dress is one of those items.  It is probably the most perfect everyday LBD and one of the most worn dresses in my closet.  Mango makes some amazing clothes and they have a pretty good price point too!  I usually buy their products from Asos, a favorite online retailer of mine.  This dress is perfect for just about every occasion – work, date night, bridal and baby showers, theatre events, happy hour, the list is endless!  I have owned this dress for over a year now and it still looks new!  Best part – I have never ironed it!  That is probably why I wear it so much too!  It has a slight seamed detailing at the waist to give you a little more shape than a normal shift dress.  The length is absolutely perfect for the office and you still get to show just a little leg.  It is also a good length to pair with booties!  These Nine West booties are also over a year old, but I scoured the internet and found them still available (and on sale) at Overstock.com!

An all black dress is the perfect time to let your accessories shine!  I wore this look to the Houston Ballet’s Nutcracker a few weeks ago and wanted to keep my accessories bright for the matinee show.  I love this hot pink clutch!  It is no longer available but I linked a gorgeous on sale DVF Clutch that I may be adding to my clutch collection soon!  I wear a lot of black so adding a bright clutch is a great way to add some color to my outfit.  I am also in love with my new Baublebar jewelry, a Cyber Monday find!  I am so excited they carry this necklace in silver.  My first color choice for jewelry is silver, and lately most trendy pieces only come in gold.   When I saw this in silver, I had to have it!  The necklace is a long strand that you can knot to create any length or look you want.  It has been fun experimenting with the different ways to wear it.  I also picked up this Crystal Mason Ring, which FYI is often sold out!  I was on the waitlist for this ring, and it was worth the wait!  The dark hematite color is really pretty and goes great with my other silver jewelry!  Jewelry is such a fun way to change up your looks and allow you to get multiple uses out of one outfit.

Tonight kicks off one of my favorite Houston events, FASHION HOUSTON.  Four nights enjoying amazing runway shows featuring designers big and small while sipping champagne and having the perfect excuse to get all dressed up!  I love seeing what everyone is wearing to this event.  It is a chance to pull out your favorite dresses and sequin pieces, and create a show stopping look.  For tonight, one of the runway shows is Little Black Dress Designer, so I decided to pull out one of my favorite LBDs.  I purchased this dress a couple years ago from Express. I loved how even though it is a tight dress, it still has a loose and comfortable feel when I wear it.  The statement piece of this outfit is definitely the sequin jacket.  I purchased this jacket for a steal a few years ago at an end of year sale.  I was drawn to the idea of a sparkly embellished jacket that  I can pair with different colored dresses or jeans and increase the wears of it.  With statement clothing pieces, it is often hard to be able to wear them more than once.  They are usually very memorable!  I have a few amazing and beautiful sequin dresses hanging in my closet only worn once.   With this jacket, I felt it was still that beautiful statement piece I love, but has the ability to be worn different ways to change up the look.  A few years ago, I paired it with skinny jeans, heels and a black tank top for New Year’s.  I also wore it to a bachelorette party paired with a white top.  Since it is black and silver, I plan on getting even more use out of it wearing it over colorful dresses.  But for tonight, my beautiful embellished jacket and I will head to night one of Fashion Houston to walk the red carpet into the Wortham Theater to check out Tibi, Grungy Gentleman and more.  If you are interested in purchasing tickets or learning more about Fashion Houston, visit Fashionhouston.net

These rainy days make me want to stay in bed all day and watch old movies.  Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite old movies; it’s definitely my comfort movie.  Nothing is better on rainy days, freezing cold days, or sick days, than to stay in your pajamas all day and watch your favorite movies! The movies you have watched so many times you can practically recite them by now.  Today, I am channeling my inner Audrey Hebpurn and Holly Golightly, but adding a little pop of color with my shoes.  Audrey Hepburn has always been one of my style inspirations.  I love her classic, elegant and timeless look.  Some of the looks she helped make iconic are still fashion staples today. She had her own style and stuck to it. I think it is very important to know and maintain your own personal style. It can be easy to get caught up in the latest trends, but you should always make them work for you.  Most importantly, if you don’t love the trend, then don’t wear it!  If you aren’t happy or comfortable in what you have on, it will definitely show.  Your personal style is a way to express who you are to the world, and Audrey definitely understood that! Now, who wants to go eat a Danish pastry and sip coffee at Tiffany’s?
