Styled 3 Ways: Little Black Dress

Happy Friday!!! I’m so excited for today’s post ya’ll!! So way back in my first year of blogging, I did a styled 3 ways post with a striped dress. I loved the idea of sharing different ways to wear the same thing in one easy post for you. It’s an idea that I’ve been wanting to bring back for probably about a year now. Well I finally decided to just sit down and do it already!
I’m planning on making this a monthly series and to have the main item be a mix of closet basics and trendy pieces. If you would love to see a specific item featured, leave it for me in the comments!
Let’s talk about today’s styling of a black dress multiple ways. I think everyone needs a little black dress in their closet. I own a shift dress, fit and flare, and this fitted body-con dress. I would style all 3 designs similarly to the way I styled this fitted dress.
This dress is hands down one of my favorites! I own it in 2 colors in sleeveless and 1 color in long sleeve. It’s currently marked down 20% in multiple colors including black.

Black Dress (20% off) | Leopard Flats | Pink Clutch | c/o Earrings | Bracelet
This first look would be perfect for date night! I know many of you love flats, so I paired it with my leopard flats for you. You could also add a fun pop of color heel too. I added in my color with my purse and statement earrings. A long gold pendant necklace is a great way to dress up the crew neck dress a little.

Black Dress | Wedge Sandals | Similar Denim Jacket | Circle Bag | Necklace | c/o Earrings
Next up, a casual outfit that would be perfect for grabbing lunch with friends. I love a black outfit paired with a brown shoe. It’s taken awhile for me to embrace the black/brown combo, but I’m totally loving it now. A denim jacket is a major closet staple and an easy way to change up a look and make a dress look more casual.
I again added a long pendant necklace and some fun rose gold statement earrings. For a casual bag option, I went with my new straw circle bag. I obsessed with this cute little bag, so be prepared to see it lots this spring and summer!
Black Dress | Cardigan | Sandals | c/o Necklace | c/o Earrings | Bracelet
This last look is perfect for a day of running errands. You could also slip on a neutral flat or heel for the office. I tossed on my beige cardigan to create a laid back look with the sandals, and I kept my jewelry pretty simple with a short gold necklace and small colored earring.
Which outfit is your favorite? 1, 2, or 3? And for a bonus 4th way to wear this dress, this post is how I originally styled this dress on the blog.

What to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Happy Friday!! Summer wedding season is officially underway, and I wanted to share a few ideas on what to wear to a Summer wedding including this gorgeous black lace bodycon dress. When picking the perfect dress, I consider time of the wedding, requested attire, and price. I love this black lace dress for an evening wedding and cocktail attire.
When I saw this dress a few months ago, I was shocked that it was just over $100. The quality of this dress feels like it should be much more. As soon as this dress came back in stock in my size, I jumped on it. This bodycon dress will also be great for fall weddings and holiday parties too. It will definitely be my go to little black dress for any upcoming events.
I also found a few more dress ideas below trying to stay around the $100 range. These dresses range from daytime to evening options. I love the flowy, floral, bright colors for daytime, and the fitted and lace options for an evening wedding. I also included a few fit and flare styles that would work for both day and evening.

What to Wear to a Formal Wedding

Happy Friday! A few weeks ago, I attended the wedding of a sweet friend of mine. I was so excited to watch the two lovebirds tie the knot, but I was also excited because the dress code was formal attire. I don’t find many occasions to wear a formal dress, so I could not wait to get all dolled up for this wedding.
I wasn’t able to take blog photos the night of the wedding with my hair all fancy, but my bestie did snap a pic for Instagram before the ceremony. I wore my hair up because of the high neckline of the dress. I think an updo is definitely the way to go with this dress.
For all my formal dress needs, I always turn to Rent the Runway. It’s a service that allows you to rent dresses for 4-8 days for a fraction of the original cost. This black lace dress retails for $515, but I paid $97 for a 4-day rental.
The process is pretty simple. On the site, enter your size and the date you need the dress, browse and favorite your top picks. Then, pick the big winner and patiently wait for the day to arrive. My dress arrived on Friday, and I had to have it back to the UPS store by Monday at 12p in a black garment bag they supply. Rent the Runway allows you to also request a back up size. I always request a backup size, and I have used it twice so far. For this dress, I ordered my normal size Small and a backup size XS. I ended up wearing the small, and it fit perfectly!
Another added bonus for Rent the Runway is they let you order a 2nd dress for $32 in case the first dress doesn’t work out. They have tons of reviews including pictures on every dress. I usually look for reviewers with my same height and weight, so I can see how the dress looked on them and the sizing they chose. I have been using this service for over 6 years for weddings, blog conferences, birthday parties, and any event where I want a gorgeous dress. If you have a formal wedding coming up, it would definitely be a place to check out.
When I was looking for what to wear to a formal wedding, I decided to go with either tea length or full length. Since I was renting and I am 5’3, I ended up nixing the tea length because I usually need this length altered. The wedding was in February, so I opted for a darker color, of course gravitating to black. I love the simple silhouette and the lace details on this one. It was perfect, and I received tons of compliments. It was easy to move and dance the night away in.
Also, this is the dress I wore with those block heel sandals I was raving about from my last post. You can’t really see them in these pics, but you can see close ups in the other post. I hope you guys have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

FRENCH CONNECTION Fit & Flare Lace Panel Dress *ON SALE | STEVE MADDEN Stecy Sandal | GIGNY Magenta Clutch | LOREN HOPE Blythe Necklace (similar) | BAUBLEBAR Pinnacle Cuff, Aretha Earrings | Nails: JULEP Shari | Lipstick: BOBBI BROWN Neon Pink
Happy Monday Ya’ll!! My vacation week is officially here. I just have to make it through 3 days of work, and then I will be off to Charleston with my girlfriends! It’s going to be the longest 3 days! Do you ever notice how those few work days before vacation seem to last forever?!?!
I am so in LOVE with this French Connection dress. I wore this to my cousin’s wedding a couple weekends ago. I had originally wanted a bright solid color dress, but I was striking out with all the dresses I tried on. I had pretty much given up and decided to just wear something old when I stumbled upon this dress. I was actually ordering a couple things for my trip when this dress popped up and was on sale! As soon as I saw it, I knew 1) it would be perfect for the wedding and 2) it was the perfect LBD. The lace panel is my favorite part of this dress. It really takes this dress from just a normal fit and flare to something special. The dress is a super comfy stretch material, so it was easy to dance and move in it. I added a short statement necklace to add a little detail to the neckline.
My biggest concern when I ordered the dress was the length. I’m only 5’3, so I knew the midi length could potentially be the deal breaker on this dress. The lace panel I loved so much, also means it would be hard/expensive to alter. I decided to go ahead and purchase these nude sandals to pair with the dress. A nude shoe is a great way to make your legs looks longer, and my little secret to wearing midi length skirts and dresses without looking super short and awkward. I have been meaning to buy these shoes for awhile because they work with everything from dresses to jeans to shorts. I used to think the thin straps would make these shoes uncomfortable, but honestly they do give your foot some good support. I have only walked in them so far, so I’ll keep you updated on my experience with them.
My dress arrived the Thursday before the wedding and fit like a glove! I was so happy with it. Unfortunately my shoes hit a delay and didn’t arrive until the Monday after the wedding. Luckily, I had an old pair of shoes from when I was a bridesmaid to wear with this dress. I was a little disappointed to not have my shoes in time, but since I know I will being wearing these for years to come I wasn’t super sad.
Hope ya’ll have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
