I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas weekend! Mine was a mix of relaxing at home and hanging out with family. It was really nice. I’m really excited to have today off work. It’s a nice little bonus day, since we don’t really have any plans. Well except to hit the gym and burn off a few of the sweets from the weekend.
With less than a week to go until we celebrate a brand new year, I figured it was time to share a cute and casual New Years Eve outfit. If we go out, we usually keep it low key and celebrate at a friend’s house. The atmosphere is casual, but I still like to find ways to dress up my outfit a little. I ordered this gorgeous statement necklace over Black Friday, and absolutely love it! I have been looking for a new statement necklace for a few months, and this was exactly what I was looking for from the design to the adjustable length to that perfect amount of sparkle. With a statement necklace like this one, I typically opt for a stud earring to not have too much going on up top. I opted for these drusy ones, so they would still add a little sparkle.
I wore this exact outfit to a holiday party back when it was still cold. This sweater is so warm and cozy, and I love the cold shoulder details. The placement and thickness of the straps make it work with a regular black bra for me. Always a win in my opinion. The cold shoulder and bold stripe give this sweater a little chic edge to it, so it pairs perfectly with my faux leather leggings. I can’t rave enough about how comfy these leggings are! A great way to dress up an outfit, but still be so comfortable all night long.

I can’t think of a better way to kick off this Monday than with a little office outfit inspiration. During Spring and Summer, I tend to wear lots of dresses to the office. I love the professional look of a solid color sheath dress. I wanted to share a few of my favorite ways to take a basic office dress and give it a bit more personality. One of my favorite ways to add some flare to an outfit is through accessories. InStyle just launched a jewelry line on HSN, and the pieces are a super cute mix of fabulous statement items and everyday wear basics. A pearl necklace is a great touch for an office outfit. I love this over-sized pearl necklace to add more of a bold statement to the outfit. The collection also has a matching ring which adds a fun trendy feel to the overall look. Since these two pieces are more statement pieces, I kept the rest of my jewelry simple with silver studs and some of my everyday wear bangles. When adding statement jewelry to a work outfit, I typically opt for one maybe two pieces only. I decided to go with both the necklace and ring, because it was just super cute and the two pieces really work well together. If I were to add a bold earring to this look too, the pieces would be competing with each other.
Another fun way to add some flare to a basic dress is with colorful add ons. I think having a few colorful pumps in your closet are great for days when you want something different than a basic black or nude heel. These burgundy ones get so much wear in my office looks. They still have a professional look to them, but just give that little extra something to the outfit. By the way, they are on sale right now too!! I also love adding color with my purse. This Henri Bendel satchel has a very clean, sophisticated, and professional look to it. It comes in a wide array of colors, so you can find the one that best fits your personality. If you are going to mix colors, try to pick colors that work together. I love this green and burgundy color combo.
When you put all these pieces together, it really changes up that basic sheath dress to allow a bit more of your personality show. I love that the outfit still has that professional vibe for the office too. Alright, now let’s grab some coffee and tackle this week!

I found it! The perfect statement necklace and it was under $30! I have been looking for just the right one since I received a similar one in my Rocksbox. I wanted one with a bit smaller stones than that one. I also wanted something affordable, because statement jewelry is just not going to get as much wear as my everyday pieces. I love how this necklace has three different designs, but they all work beautifully together. I love wearing necklaces like this underneath button down shirts to let them shine through, but I also love to use a statement necklace to pump up a casual look. When I am going super laid back casual, I often opt for a vintage tee, distressed jeans, and sandals. I love this Britney tee I purchased at her Femme Fatale concert a few years back. I linked some other vintage style concert tees I found online. I’ve talked about my love for Lucky Brand jeans before, and this pair is one of my favorites. This is like the second or third pair I ever purchased from them. They are around 10 years old and are still in great condition!! Since they are so old, I linked some other pairs that are a similar distressed and flared look. I do not often wear a tee and jeans, so when I do I love being able to dress it up and put a little of glitz and glam into the look!

I have talked before about my love of a great statement piece. A piece so gorgeous it needs nothing else to go with it. This necklace is the epitome of a statement necklace. I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it on Baublebar. To add to its beauty, 100% of the net proceeds from this necklace benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With a necklace this beautiful, I want to be sure it takes center stage so an all-black look was exactly what it needed. The colors of this necklace shine even brighter against the black top and really allow it to stand out. When adding a statement necklace, I try to keep all my other jewelry, especially my earrings, simple. If you have too many beautiful statement pieces on at once, they will all be competing with one another. None of them will have the opportunity to truly shine. As Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, take a look in the mirror and take one thing off.” Great advice from a fashion icon.
