Hello! How was your weekend? Do anything exciting?  We kept it pretty chill because we thought it was going to rain all weekend, spoiler alert – it did not, but it was cloudy.  I spent a little bit of the weekend perusing the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and shared a few of my favorites HERE.

One item I wear tons year round is my blue denim jacket.  It’s perfect to pair with dresses, tank tops, camisoles, and tshirts, just to name a few.  I have had several days where I really wished I had a white jacket, so I went searching for a lightweight affordable one.  It needed to be lightweight since it does get warm down here in Houston.

This white denim jacket popped up first in my search and had so many good reviews.  I looked over a few more, but I decided to give this one a go.  It was one of the more affordable jacket options I found that also had a high reviews.

I’m so happy with my purchase too.  It’s the perfect lightweight denim for warmer days, but will still keep my warm when people blast the AC indoors.  After reading reviews, I sized up to a Medium, and I think it was a good decision.  It can be buttoned if needed and still provides a little shape if left open.

I’m always cold, so I often bring a jacket or cardigan with me.  White is such a great neutral that can easily work with so many outfit combos.  I plan on bringing this jacket along anytime I am wearing my blue jeans, a cute sundress, or just a fun colorful top and black jeans like in today’s outfit post.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale – What to Buy at an End of Season Sale

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale Picks | Nordstrom Sale | What to Buy at End of Season Sale | Nsale | Lady in Violet | Houston Fashion Blogger

Hello lovelies!  I’m popping in today to share all about the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale.  I know you may be thinking, wait – Isn’t the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale the best sale of the year, what is this sale? Yes, the Anniversary sale still remains my #1 sale of the year.  The Half Yearly sale probably ranks #3 on my list, right after Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales.

While the Anniversary sale tends to be all new items for the upcoming season, the Spring half yearly sale is generally markdowns on out of season products and spring styles to make way for summer and the Anniversary sale items in July.  It’s a good time for you to stock up on basics like solid tops and jeans, buy those spring trends you may have eyed that will still work for summer, and well it’s always a good time to buy shoes.

You should also check out jackets and sweaters, for some discounted items you can wear in the fall. When buying out of season, try not to go too trendy but more classic and timeless.  Good things to look for are jackets, solid color sweaters, and boots.  I tend to stay away from prints, because they may look outdated if that print style is no longer in style come fall.  With that said, if you love the print, ignore me and still buy it because you love it.  The same rule applies to those super trendy items too.

This sale is always massive and takes me DAYS to fully go through just the items on sale for women.  I hope sharing these picks will help you quickly navigate the sale to find the best of the best items available.  My picks are divided up into both item specific and category specific lists to help you take full advantage of the deals available.

Normally this sale is not one I rush to shop the day it starts.  I take my time and build my shopping cart over a few days and edit it down from my dream shopping cart to my I still have other bills to pay shopping cart.  I’ve never had a problem with items selling out, but it is end of season items so size and color options may be low quantity numbers.  This sale is also receiving a little extra hype this year, so items may go faster.  If you decide to shop this sale, I would buy those can’t live without items immediately and for everything else you have until June 4th to make your final decisions.

Now let’s get to all the fabulous picks, and if you want me to help you navigate a category/item not included shoot me an email or leave me a comment and I will add it to the post.  Happy Shopping and thanks for stopping by!

4 Skincare Products Worth Trying Out

Skincare Product Review | Beauty Product Review | Best Skincare Products | Anti-aging beauty products | Lady in Violet | Houston Beauty Blogger

Hello Hello!  It’s been a hot minute since I did a beauty post, but I have a good reason. Remember that Whole 30 thing I did during March?  I wanted to see the true impact it had on my skin, so I tried zero new products during the month of March.  While I was half tempted to immediately try all the new skincare products when it was over, I knew I needed to give them each their own try out time so I could see their exact results, not a combo of multiple products.

From what I have tried lately, these are the 4 skincare products worth trying out right now.  All 4 will leave your skin glowing, looking smoother, and hydrated.  Now, let’s get on to the individual reviews.

c/o DERMALOGICA STRESS POSITIVE EYE LIFT –  The purpose of this product is to reduce the signs of stress like puffiness and dark circles and firm the skin around the eye for a lifted effect.  I will say this product does what it promises.  I love to apply in the morning after my shower. You apply it around your eye, let it set for a few minutes (while I make my coffee/breakfast), and then fully massage into the skin.

Even with one use, you can start seeing improvements in dark circles.  My favorite thing about this product is that it made my eyes look more awake.  I love to use this after late nights to look way more awake than I might feel.

KIEHLS MIDNIGHT RECOVERY CONCENTRATE – I’ve been dying to try this product for awhile now because of all the amazing hype it receives.  This product is a blend of essential oils used to smooth and repair damage leaving you looking younger, smoother, and glowing.  I love this product and think it lives up to the hype.  My skin looks younger, healthier, and glowing in the morning.  Forehead wrinkles seem banished for the day.

Since this is an essential oil blend, it has a strong fragrance smell.  I run oil diffusers all day, so the smell doesn’t bother me.  If you are sensitive to strong smells, I would head to a Kiehls, Sephora, or Nordstrom to smell before purchasing.  As much as I love this product, I’m 90% sure it’s been causing a few minor breakouts, so I probably will not buy again.  I’m still testing to see if I’m 100% sure before I write it off, and I definitely plan on finishing the bottle!

c/o TATCHA THE ESSENCE – This product was extremely intriguing to me.  It’s basically like water (but filled with goodness) that you apply to your face. It promises anti-aging benefits, smoothing, and hydrating.  I’m used to applying thick moisturizers and oils, so this thin water like products was very different from my normal.  I was a little skeptical, but I actually really like it.

I try out most skincare products at night, so they can work their magic while I sleep.  Plus, I think how your skin looks in the morning when it’s been free of makeup and environmental factors can really help to evaluate how well a product is doing it’s job.  I definitely noticed a more hydrated, smooth look after using this product.  It mentions it will plump your skin which is basically reducing fine lines.  After a few days of use I did notice improvement in this area.  It’s quick and easy to apply too.  I think it’s great for those nights when you don’t want a long drawn out routine, just a quick few seconds and done.

c/o COSMEDIX RESTORE FACE MASK – I’m closing out with this AMAZING moisture mask.  I mean I can’t do a skincare post without a face mask. I’m too obsessed with them.  This one is a litle different though.  It’s more like super thick moisturizer.  You apply like a mask, let set, and then lightly rinse off or blot away excess.  I would compare it kind of to a leave in conditioner.

This hydrating mask is perfect right before bed.  It’s super hydrating and moisture rich as described.  After the 10-15 minutes are up,  I notice a major improvement in fine lines, my skin was glowing, and was so soft.  I will definitely be adding this little gem into my regular rotation, especially on days when my skin feels dry.

THE PRODUCTS

Have you tried any of these yet?  Thinking about trying one out?  I would love to hear your results.  I find products work different for everyone, so I am always curious to hear about others experinces.

You didn’t think I was going to not mention all the AMAZING Memorial Day Sales, did you?!?  Ya’ll, you know I love a good sale.  I’m working on a round up of my favorite picks from the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale, so I will probably have that one up this weekend.  If you want me to share the best of a certain area like jeans, sandals, workwear, let me know in the comments and I can include it.

And here are a few more of my can’t miss fashion sales of the weekend:

Hello Ladies!  I’m sharing a look today that you can probably recreate from items already found in your closet.  I feel like you can never go wrong with a chic all black outfit.  I have mentioned it before, it’s one of my go to ensembles when I’m not sure what to wear.

You can go two ways with this one and either add in small pops of color or add some striking metal statement jewelry.  This necklace is the same chain material and color as my statement fave bib (previously seen here), but this one is lighter and a little less intense.  The large pendant at the bottom is some fun added sparkle to the necklace.  It really gives it that gorgeous chic look.  This is a great statement necklace to pair with a plain solid color tee and jeans or a crew neck dress too.

Also, I have to talk about these shoes.  They are crazy comfortable!!  I bought them because I needed a new black work pump.  I love the chic sophistication of a pointy toe d’orsay heel, and this pair was on major sale.  You can’t see it in the photos, but they have a really cool laser cut detailing to them.  I think this detail is also what makes them so comfy.  It allows the material to stretch a bit for comfort without being to loose. If you need a new black pump, I highly recommend these comfortable black heels. The fit for me was true to size, and they also come in pink.
