One of my favorite places to find style inspiration is Pinterest. I have about 8 boards solely dedicated to fabulous outfits and style ideas I find. I pin them from Pinterest, other fashion blogs, and celebrity shots. My look today is inspired by a look from my Celebrity Style board. I loved a similar look Emma Watson wore to a dinner at Windsor Castle hosted by the Duke of Cambridge. Her look featured a crisp white button down blouse with a long gray maxi skirt. I wanted to create a similar look that I could wear to work. I love this black maxi skirt from Target, a staple in my spring wardrobe with tank tops, tshirts and sandals. I never thought about pairing it with a button down work top. When looking for a button down blouse, I immediately gravitated towards my striped top from Zara. The light silk material of the blouse worked really well with the loose jersey knit of the skirt. Since it is still a little cool, I paired with booties, but I think this outfit would look just as perfect paired with a pair of strapped heels. In keeping with my Pinterest inspiration photo, I also kept my jewelry simple. I added my favorite gold studs, a bangle, and just two gold necklaces to complete this look. The best part is all these pieces were already in my closet! One of my favorite ways to use my Pinterest style boards is to help me find new ways wear what I already own. Last month, I finally upgraded my iPhone from a 4 to a 6. I know I was a bit behind on the upgrading, but I saw nothing wrong with my 4 and no need to upgrade until I started running out of space. So off I went to upgrade to the new iPhone 6. The biggest improvement I noticed was in the camera. For my Instagram followers, you know I love sharing my outfit selfies on a near daily basis. I couldn’t believe how much clearer and detailed the photos were!!! My normal go-to phone case is a purple Otterbox. I like the safety of their cases because obviously I hang on to my phone for awhile. This go around I decided I wanted a pretty case with some kind of design, something that was very me. This Sonix case and I were completely love at first sight! I was so in love that I held off on activating my phone while I somewhat patiently (completely stalked the UPS tracking site) waited for it’s arrival. I love the hand painted look of it, and the femininity of the flowers. The colors are beautiful and compliment each other perfectly! My outfit selfie is definitely much improved, head over to my Instagram and see the outfit selfie I shared of the outfit in this post.
Speaking of the outfit in today’s post, I am loving my new J. Crew sweater for layering. It is that perfect length that hits at just the right spot on my longer button down tops. It’s also the perfect semi-cropped black sweater I mentioned I was looking for in a post a few week ago to pair with my ever growing midi skirt collection. Happy Friday ya’ll and hope you have a fabulous and amazing weekend!!
My previous post was all about staying warm when going out on the town by adding a leather jacket. Today, a little tip to stay warm at the office – add some winter tights! Okay maybe this is pretty basic winter dressing 101, but when you live in Texas sometimes you forget. A few years back, I traveled to London in February. I put together the most amazing theater ensemble with a skirt and a sweater. I didn’t even think about how cold my legs would be! Luckily, I was able to pop in to a London H&M and pick up these black tights! I love love love the dark black color, plus I have had them for several years and they still look new! I must mention I probably only wear them 4-5 times a year which probably has helped them last longer. I held out for a long time on buying dark black tights, because I hate pantyhose! These are thicker material, so I don’t find them as annoying as normal pantyhose. I am even considering picking up a pair of patterned tights next!
Now it is officially February and love is in the air. I put together a little Valentine’s Gift Guide focused completely on LOVE. It really is the prettiest word no matter how it is written. I included ideas from a little cheesy (that coffee mug is awesome!) to the perfect sentimental gift (a book of Love Poems!!). If you plan on ordering a gift online for that special someone, this week may be your last chance to ensure your gift arrives before February 14th.
