Is it just me or was that weekend shorter than normal?!?! I know bad joke, but hopefully everyone remembered to spring their clocks forward Sunday. Our Sunday was nothing but rain, which was actually quite fine for me. I haven’t been home on a weekend for a while and I had plenty to catch up on around the house! Now it is time to gear up for another work week! The beginning of spring is a great time to pull out some of my layering pieces for the office. We have occasional warm days, so I have started pulling out some of my warm weather items like this floral blouse. This blouse is something I normally wear on weekends in the summer with jeans or shorts, but I was determined to find something I could wear it with for the office. A thin pull-over sweater is one of my top transitional weather pieces for layering. I try to add a new pullover sweater color every year. I purchased this Banana Republic sweater last fall because I knew the color would work well with some of the prints I already owned. I like the shorter length to allow another top to peak from the bottom, and how the v-neck allows for the collar detailing of the floral blouse to show through too. The floral blouse is actually sheer which I liked for layering because it did not feel too heavy underneath the pullover sweater. If you are trying to get some more uses out of the items in your closet, layering them up is a great way to do it. The easiest way to start is by mixing a print and a solid with a similar color palate like the purple flowers on the print and the purple sweater. You can even flip and wear a printed top over a solid bottom layer. If you want to create a similar look, but do not have a pull-over, try buttoning up a cardigan leaving a few top buttons open. Now head to those closets and start mixing and matching, and if you are feeling really brave mix two patterned prints together!
