Clarisonic Mia Exfoliation System | Lady in Violet

Exfoliation and Night Cream Hydration Routine | Lady in Violet

You have probably heard about the big Nordstrom Anniversary Sale going on right now.  My favorite purchase from last year is this month’s beauty feature!  I picked up some fab deals on boots, tops, and jewelry, but this little Clarisonic Mia 2 was my favorite and best deal of the sale.  I purchased this in store on the first weekend the sale opened to the public.  A rep from Clarisonic was there to show me how the system worked and explained a little about the benefits of exfoliation.  If you do not currently exfoliate, I highly recommend looking into some sort of system.  Exfoliating helps prevent the signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, prevents breakouts by keeping pores clear, evens out your skin tone, and improves the absorption of your moisturizers.  I only exfoliate my face 1-2 times per week.  Some people say they do it more, but I think more can be a little too irritating on my skin.  Exfoliating is basically removing all the dead skin cells allowing the beautiful new skin underneath to shine through.

I use my Clarisonic as part of my night routine.  After washing my face with my regular face wash, I apply some of the Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser on my face, and then turn on my Clarisonic Mia.  It is set to a two minute time frame with small beeps about every 30 seconds for you to evenly exfoliate your entire face.  I start with my forehead move to my nose and chin, and then do each cheek/side of face area.  After I am done, I rinse off my face and the Clarisonic brush.  I then immediately apply my night cream.  By ridding your face of dead skin cells, your new skin will better absorb the night cream.  I am always trying new night creams, and I haven’t settled yet on a favorite.  My current one is Olay Firming Cream.  If you have one you love, please leave it in the comments and I will try it out.  The Clarisonic Mia system that I use is back on this year’s Anniversary Sale list.  I received a better deal including a full size cleanser and extra brushes by purchasing in store last year.  I can’t promise the same this year, but it may be worth it to stop by the beauty counter to see what extra specials they might have.  I also listed some other alternative exfoliating brushes below at varying price points.

Yep, I’m officially jumping on the romper bandwagon!  I fell in love with the colors and pattern on this one from Just Lex Boutique and decided it was time to try it out.  Ok, my first impression – these things are short!  This was a big reason why I’ve hesitated to pick one up, but they are super comfortable!  After a hot minute, I forgot that original short shorts feeling, and I was thinking I need more of these things!  I love this one because it is a light material and sleeveless which is perfect as our weather nears the 100 degree mark.  The back is open, and I paired it with a white bandeau.  If you are brave enough to go braless with this romper, I think it would add a little something extra to it.  One of the big reasons, I was ready to try a romper is because they have a good day to night versatility factor.  Toss on some long pearls or a bright yellow tassel necklace and  some fun nude pumps or these yellow tassel sandals, and this outfit is ready for a night out.   You could even go more casual by pairing this with some flat sandals.  I love all the options!!  I found this slip from Free People that you can wear underneath rompers if you are worried about them being too shear.  I do not think this one would need it, but I thought it was a cool product.  Thanks for stopping by today and have a fabulous week!

I love a relaxing day at the beach!  A towel, good book and sunscreen and I am set!  Well maybe a cute beach outfit too! I purchased this cover-up last year from Nordstrom Rack.  I linked some similar swim cover-ups above.  I love to try to find cover-ups that can also work as a dress.  I tend to go on cruises every year or so, and I like to be able to walk around the boat in my cover-up.  For Galveston, I like to be able to toss my cover-up on and go grab a bite to eat.   Galveston has just about every beach you could want.  Stewart Beach is family-friendly beach with lots of fun activities like sand-castle building, volleyball, and music. This beach also has concessions, bathrooms and umbrella/seat rentals.   A little further down Galveston are the Pocket Parks. For a small cash fee, you can park on the beach.  We have done this and it’s nice to be able to park and unload right there.  I know some of these allow alcohol, but not in a glass container.   Go even further down, and you hit Galveston Island State Park which allows you to camp on the beach.  In between you will find many beach house neighborhoods that have a more private beach access.  These are nice quiet family friendly beaches.

Another fun place to check out on the Island is Seawolf Park.  The park has some cool submarines and tankers you can tour, and park space to enjoy a fun picnic.  Seawolf Park is also my favorite place to watch the cruise ships depart Galveston.  These massive ships dock in the Galveston Channel which runs alongside the park.  It is definitely a sight to see these ships sailing so close to land as they leave the channel and head into the Gulf of Mexico.  It is definitely the best place to be if you want to see these beautiful ships in action.  Looking at these photos today has me ready to go back to Galveston! Time to start planning our next trip!!  Happy Friday Ya’ll!!
