Let the layering begin! Get ready because in fall and winter I love to layer! One item I had to add to my closet this fall was a puffer type vest. I didn’t really want it to be puffy, but just that look. I love this quilted vest from Old Navy! It is thin and lightweight which is perfect for a Texas fall (aka it’s still 80 outside today)! This vest comes in two other colors, but I decided to go with this neutral cream color, so I could mix and match with more tops and dresses. I’m really excited to toss this vest on over some of my swing dresses with boots later this year!
Another fun way to layer is with some boot socks. I kind of own quite a few pairs of knee-high socks. I love wearing them around the house this time of year with shorts. It’s kind of my early fall and sometimes winter loungewear style. I also really like to pair them with my boots for a fun peek of color at the top. I like that if I have to take my shoes off at a friend’s house, I’m going to have some cute socks underneath and not some plain ol’ white ones. Chrissy’s Knee High Socks is one of the best online sites whether you want solid, striped, or festive! My Instagram followers may have seen me sporting some striped ones a few weeks ago when the Hurricane kept me cooped up in my house all weekend. I also have some fun seasonal ones and will probably add a Christmas pair this year! So if you saw my outfit selfie on Instagram the other day, you read that I’m currently in the middle of a small obsession with the color gray. I think it is a fun and different neutral color. I think gray pairs well with pretty much all colors! A few months ago, I began searching for a new tote bag. I was really crushing on this brown tote, but I wanted it to still have a purse feel to it. I stopped by Henri Bendel to check out this purple tote, but as per the norm when I am in that store was distracted by all the pretty things including the pretty gray color on this No. 7 Hobo bag. It is a darker gray with a hint of blue undertone to it. I liked the color because it would work with so many different colors in my wardrobe. Gray is also one of those colors that I love to wear as a monochromatic look. With my colorful bags like my green one, I would switch it out when I wore that color. Gray is different. I think wearing different shades of gray is pretty, so I would definitely still be able to carry this bag around when wearing this color. My search was for a tote, and this bag is technically called a hobo purse. The hobo bag style is one of my favorites, and one I am often drawn to in the store. I like the slightly structured but still relaxed look of the style. I also find them to be really comfortable to wear on the shoulder. I feel like this bag is a hybrid with attributes of both a tote and hobo, so it was perfect for me.
If you have a Henri Bendel store in your area, you should check it out. The salespeople are amazing and friendly. They also love sharing little tidbits about the brand. Like Henri Bendel is credited for bringing Coco Chanel to the US. The No 7 collection is kind of a nod to that with some of the design details reminiscent of the famed Chanel bags. A little fun fashion tidbit for this Wednesday!

Happy Monday!! I’m not often excited for a Monday morning, but today I am excited to see some sunshine and get out of the house!! Thanks to Hurricane Patricia, it rained non-stop all weekend in Houston! I did all my errand running during the week so I would not have to leave the house all weekend in case it started flooding. While I’m excited to get out today, it was a little nice to stay cooped up all weekend with the background sounds of constant rain. I was also super blog productive, so get ready for some fun posts this week!!
One of my favorite things about fall fashion is the fall jewel tone colors. I love all the dark colors like a rich violet, a dark golden yellow, navy, burgundy, and dark olive. I shop so much more in fall just because I love all the colors! I really like how these jewel tone colors all mix together too. One of my latest color mixing crushes is olive and burgundy. You have to find just the right shades of these colors so it doesn’t look too Christmas. The burgundy of these shoes has a slight dark pink tone, so it mixed well with my olive tunic. Some of my other top fall color combos are navy and yellow, violet and yellow, burgundy and gray, and black and all of the above of course. I stopped in our local Express store last week, and they have so many sweaters and tops in these colors!! I didn’t have time to try on just browse, but over the weekend while I was in rainy day hibernation I ordered a couple pieces including this sweater! Now to patiently await its arrival…

Oh Hello Friday! How I have missed you!! It is almost riding boots season here in Houston, and I cannot wait to finally get to wear these boots!! One thing about Texas weather is that it can be 50 or 60 in the morning and then in the high 80s in the afternoon. I like finding light layering tops like this one that I can wear during this fall season transition. I picked this one up a few weeks ago from J Crew and love all the layering potential it has for fall and winter. You can wear it under light jackets, cardigans, or cropped sweaters. It also looks just as great when worn by itself. This makes it perfect for our weather right now because I will need to wear it both layered and stand alone all in one day for our drastic weather changes. Ya’ll these riding boots are still on sale, but the size options in this color are going fast! If you have been considering them, I personally love them and plan on styling them on the blog until spring so you will have plenty of style inspiration coming at you.
Some of my jewelry is from my Rocksbox subscription. If you have never heard of it, you basically pay a monthly fee of $19 and borrow 3 pieces of jewelry for however long you want. I have been doing it for like 6 months now and still love it. I tend to request specific styles or even pieces I want to try out. For this box, I asked for a long pendant necklace.
