Orange Striped Midi Dress

Orange Striped Midi Dress
Happy last Friday of July! It’s also the last few days of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale which ends Sunday. My backless booties are part of the sale and a great shoe find to wear year round. I styled them today in this perfect spring to fall outfit.
This orange striped midi dress is a great throw on and go dress. The ribbed fitted design is easy to dress up for brunch or down for a fall football game. For a hot summer day, dress up this striped dress with wedge sandals or block heel sandals and gold jewelry. To transition this orange dress into fall, toss on a denim jacket and booties for a casual outfit. I love that these booties are backless. I’ve become a big fan of a slip on shoe. The backless booties also help keep the foot cool and breathable during the warmer months.
Sizing Notes: I’m wearing a medium in this dress for a loose but fitted look. The booties are a true to size fit.

Business Casual Jeans Outfit

Business Casual Jeans Outfit
A business casual jeans outfit is my go to work look lately. These dark blue bootcut jeans have long been a favorite of mine for creating dressy casual outfits. The dark color and bootcut flare style give a dressy and professional look to enhance any outfit. These jeans are the petite length and fit perfectly with a pair of heels which is another easy way to build a business casual outfit.
When looking for tops to pair with my bootcut jeans for a dressy casual outfit, I look for chic, classic prints or solids, and quality material. This top hits all three marks perfectly. The smock details and high neck design give the chic vibe. I love the smock details on the wrists. It give a statement sleeve, and it helps hold the sleeves at the 3/4 length for warmer days. The solid black with a minor red polka dot print is abosolutely perfect and will be great in the fall season too. I was really impressed with the material of this top. It’s a good thickness, so you don’t need a cami underneath or have your bra peeking through. It’s also lightweight so you will not be too warm with it on. I rounded out my business casual outfit with a few simple accessories including gold bangles and white earrings to contrast with the top.
Last week, I officially made my very first Louis Vuitton purchase, the Croisette. I’ve had my eye on this purse for awhile and finally decided to make the purchase. It’s the perfect size crossbody for everyday use. It’s going to get lots of use. I’ll give you all a full review after I carry it around a few weeks, so far I’m in love.

The Perfect Top to Transition From Winter to Spring

The Perfect Top to Transition From Winter to Spring
It’s that time of year that I start shopping for items, more specifically the perfect top to transition from winter to spring. Tops are the easiest clothing item to carry across different seasons. Although, the right dress like this one can also be a great season transitional item.
Tops work great because you can easily change the color of your jeans to match the season and instantly your top will transition into that season. For the winter to spring transition, I look for longer sleeves, flowy styles, lightweight materials, and prints that have both light and dark colors. This long sleeves on this peasant blouse have a smocked detailing at the wrist which makes it perfect to push up into a 3/4 length sleeve top on warm spring day. I also love the added movement this wrist detail gives the sleeve when you walk!
The red and blue paisley print of this top work great for the winter and fall season. A white print in the spring will make the lighter colors in this top really pop and carry it into that season. I also like the flowy materials because spring makes me think of items with movement, and the flowy look works great with skinny jeans and boots during the winter. For colder temps easily layer a leather jacket or cardigan over this lightweight top.

Layering with a Sweater Vest

Oh how I love creating layered outfits! I think it’s fun to try to find pieces to mix together that create a chic, stylish and effortless ensemble. I’ve been really gravitating towards vests this season. I think it’s because of our warm winter weather. Layering with a sweater vest helps me create a layered outfit without adding to much warmth to the overall look like a cardigan or jacket.
This layered look has a little bit of inspiration from an old favorite movie of mine, Clueless, when Cher is trying to pick the perfect outfit for her driving test. My semi-sheer blouse has lots of fun ruffle details on the front and on the bottom of the sleeve. The spotlight of this outfit though is they pastel sweater vest layered over my white top. Up close, it features light pink and blue colors that transform into a light purple from a distance.
I’m currently wearing this cropped top backwards. I think it works both ways and give you two very different styles. This way gives a v-neckline which lets my ruffles really pop through and add a little wow factor. I wore this flipped around with a long white basic tunic and long necklace for a preppier outfit. The boxy fit of the vest also works with a boxy or looser fitting top underneath so both pieces lays properly.
