I completely found this flannel shirt on accident!  I went to Nordstrom to return a top that didn’t fit and decided to peruse the Juniors section first. By the way, don’t let the word Juniors scare you.  BP and Lush make fabulous tops that work for all ages, and they have great prices, AND you have to go to the Juniors section of Nordstrom to find them!  They had a pretty big selection of flannel shirts on the day I went and the color combo of this one stood out like a gem among the others.  I love this navy blue/green color combo.  I love pairing this combo with another jewel tone like my dark purple bag or possibly some burgundy or mustard yellow shoes.  This shirt is really soft too.  I love all plaids, but flannel versions just have a soft coziness to them.  I decided to keep this look casual with my favorite black skinny jeans from last fall and my nude flats.  By the way, these Yosi Samra flats are really comfortable.  Like most leather or patent flats, they take a few wears to break them in, but once you do they are pretty comfy.  They fold and fit in a little pouch they come with so you can toss them in a bag on days when you are breaking in other shoes and might need some foot relief.  I tend to carry them around after a really hard leg day at the gym.  I always think “I can totally wear heels today,” and then about two hours later I realize I was wrong and toss on these flats.  We finally made it to the end of the week!!  Happy Friday Ya’ll and thanks for stopping by the blog this week!!

I don’t know what I love more about this look, the skirt or the shoes! I picked this skirt up from the Dao Chloe Dao boutique in Houston a few weeks ago.  I liked this skirt when I first saw it, but I honestly have not had much luck with leather or faux leather skirts.  I really didn’t think I was going to like it once I put it on, but I couldn’t just walk by it.   I immediately fell even more in love as soon as I put it on!!  Standing in the fitting room, I imagined this skirt with tight turtlenecks and booties or heels and sweaters with tall black boots.  Leather is one of those materials where either it fits or it doesn’t.  It doesn’t really have any stretch.  This is the first leather skirt I have tried on that fit me perfect.  We really were meant for each other!  Since it is from a boutique, I don’t have a link to it unless you want to call the boutique and see if they have anymore left.  I did however find a similar one and linked above as well as a cute suede version.

My other favorite item of this look is these shoes!!  I bought these with a birthday gift card.  I kept going back and forth on if I should buy them, and I am so happy I decided too!  I bought them from Nordstrom, and they have the most amazing no guilt return system.  It made me more confident in at least ordering these shoes.  As soon as I opened the box, I knew I made the right choice.  First off, they are the pantone color of the year, marsala, wine, maroon, burgundy, whatever you want to call this color.  I love it and how perfectly it works with the camel color of my skirt.  I also love the strap details on these shoes.  One of my concerns was how these shoes would look on my petite frame.  Occasionally when  a shoe has a straight strap across the ankle it can make me look shorter.  I think the slim version of the rest of the shoe helps to alleviate that short look from the top strap.  From the front these shoes remind me of ballet shoes with the strap placement.   I’m just so in love with these shoes, I could probably plan an outfit around them everyday.  This also means they will be repeat offenders on the blog all fall and winter!!  I have tried these on with my skinny jeans and they look equally amazing as they do with this skirt! I will have to share a look next week! Stay tuned!!

Also, I have to wish a HUGE Happy Birthday today to my first ever blog subscriber, my Aunt Jen!!!  Now I will see if she really reads my new post emails 😉  Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Have you ever looked back at old photos of your parents or grandparents and seen clothes you would totally still wear today?  Or looked at old fashion magazines and seen today’s hot trends on their covers?  While a style may fade away, it doesn’t mean it is gone forever!  I love finding beautiful vintage pieces.  If you have never been to a vintage clothing store, I highly recommend it!  Even if you have no plan on buying a thing, it is fun to go through all the clothes and see old styles that are new again.  It’s somewhat like a fashion museum. If you are in Houston, I highly recommend Cheeky Vintage.  The store has an amazing selection, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable about both fashion and all the pieces in the store.

This vintage jacket was a gift from a few years ago.  It had shoulder pads, but I quickly removed them.  While some vintage will come with designer labels like Chanel, some like this jacket have no label.  This jacket reminds me a lot of a Chanel style jacket which is probably why I like it so much.  A vintage jacket like this one can be worked into a dressy casual look like this one or paired with a dress or slacks for a work look.  I personally love a dressy casual look, so this is usually my go to outfit.  Jackets like this one are still popular so you can still find them in stores like Nordstrom.  A tweed jacket is similar to this one, but they can sometimes get pricey.  I also linked a jacket from TheRealReal, an online consignment shop that verifies the authenticity of all its products.  I tried creating a cute little widget for ya’ll of vintage inspired jackets that I like, but I had some issues.  So instead, I linked a few up in the details section.  Some are total splurge pieces like the Chanel jacket, but I did find some in the $100 price range.

By the way, my Paige denim you see my wearing all the time are on sale!  I linked two different stores that have them on sale right now!!  I hope you all have a fabulous Monday!! Thanks for stopping by!

I read this post on Instagram the other day that said something like, I’m ready for cool fall temps, but once they get here I’m like I can’t wait for spring.  That post was so me!  Every year in September I am so ready for fall weather so I can start wearing all my fabulous fall fashion items, but after a few weeks I start to miss my dresses and wedges.  If I had to pick my favorite look for fall, this is it!  I love long tunics with skinny jeans and boots.  This olive color is perfect for fall and will work perfect under a tan jacket this winter.  Ya’ll these boots are officially back on sale for under $140!  I haven’t had the chance to wear them outside of blog photos, but they area really comfortable.  I like that they have room to tuck in my jeans.  If you have a wider calf, they also come in a wide-calf version too.  I am already trying to find ways to style these boots with some dresses, so I can start wearing on our next cool day.  I originally tried them on with a dress, so I know they will be super cute with one.

My poor little pup had to have dental surgery yesterday to have her chipped tooth fixed.  My plans this weekend are for lots of cuddles as she recovers and as we celebrate her 4th Birthday.   I know she is going to love that she gets to eat nothing but wet food for a whole week while her stitches heal.  We only feed her wet food on special occasions or when she has been a really good puppy.  When we give it to her, it is like nothing else exists while she eats.  Happy Friday Ya’ll and thanks for stopping by the blog this week!
