Black is definitely the new pink. I always find myself leaning towards darker colors when I am out shopping, and I think you can never go wrong with a black on black look. I love how simple yet strong an all black ensemble can be, and the slimming effect of black doesn’t hurt. Sometimes I will add a pop of color with shoes or jewelry to break up the dark color. It’s a great way to show off an amazing statement necklace, or sport a fun shoe color. I love wearing my red pumps with all black! The color really shines against the all black background. I absolutely hate cold weather! It’s always around this time of year that I wish I could migrate south to a tropical island where it is always warm and sip umbrella drinks all day. BUT since I can’t do that, I will just remind myself of the things I can only enjoy in cold weather, like riding boots. Every year I purchase at least one new pair of boots to add to my collection. This year, I added my first pair of over the knee boots! I am petite and have always been a little cautious about buying over the knee boots. My main goal when styling these boots is to not make myself look even shorter! For my first outing in them, I paired them with a high low sweater to help keep the proportions balanced. The high cut of the front of the sweater helps keep my legs looking long from the front view. I love the split back detailing of the back of this sweater, a little surprise for when you walk away. The Arctic Outbreak is coming! I love the names they give cold fronts these days. It’s time to start layering up this week! One of my favorite layering combos for work is a button down shirt under a sweater. I tend to layer a print button down under a solid color sweater. I like using this black and white check top as my bottom layer, because I can use it under an array of colors throughout the season. I just recently purchased these skinny leg work pants, and I am in love! Black skinny jeans are one of my favorite things to wear, so black skinny work pants seemed like such an obvious purchase that I can’t believe I had not made it yet. These have diagonal zipper pockets at the hips, so they feel a little trendier than your average work pants. Don’t be surprised if these pants pop up again in upcoming posts! I am also loving these shoes. They have become one of my go to shoes with skinny pants. I love the way the cross-strap hits just perfectly at the bottom of the pants. They are also really comfortable! When I first tried them on in store, I was worried about the back of the shoe rubbing my heel. I haven’t had any problems with this, and these are quickly turning into one of my most comfortable pairs of black work pumps! Thanks for stopping by and Happy Monday!

As you can probably tell from my posts this week, I love pairing black tops with colorful skirts. This dark magenta Halogen skirt stole my heart at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer! Besides the gorgeous color, it really is a comfortable skirt and I am planning to go back and buy the dark camel one soon. I like pairing pencil skirts with a looser fitting top to create a little juxtaposition between top and bottom. Striped lightweight blouses are popping up everywhere right now, and I love it! For starters they are really comfortable, and second you can pair them with everything! Skirts, Work Pants, Jeans, Shorts, seriously everything. I linked a few of my favorites below.
