Light Purple Blazer + Gray Denim

Happy December!!! Ya’ll I had the most productive weekend ever. I crossed so many items off my to do list, and it feels so good to be starting such a busy month ahead of the game. Here is hoping I can keep up the momentum and keep tackling my to do list, so when the holiday parties start I will be free and clear.
Speaking of holiday parties, I think today’s look would be perfect for a casual Christmas party, especially if you are looking to go sans the red and green. I’m obsessed with the loose long open front blazers. This light purple blazer is also the perfect color to carry you right through spring. It’s such an easy way to create a dressy casual look for a party or date night. To make this a little more festive, I added my silver metallic mule heels which will be making lots of appearances this holiday season.
I love this lavender color with gray and added in black cami to complete this look. You could also add in a sequin top or graphic tee too. To add an effortless chicness to your blazer look, try pushing up the sleeves. I think it something super simple that adds a little something extra to the overall look. The light purple shade of this blazer is currently 50% off (yay!), but I also linked the other colors too for you. It includes red if you want to be more festive, but they are not on sale. (boo)
I have lots of fun content headed to the blog this week including another gift guide, a holiday home tour, and the prettiest work look. Stay tuned to the blog for all the fun coming at you this week!

Workwear in NYC: White Midi Skirt

Happy Friday! I’m so excited to start sharing some of my photos from my New York City trip earlier this month. I have a few posts planned all about Fashion Week, but I also shot a few extra outfits while I was there because I loved having the different and beautiful backdrop of NYC. These photos were shot in Soho. It was the windiest morning, but I loved how it made these photos turn out.
Anyway, let’s talk about this outfit. First off, my top and skirt are both 40% off right now! I love this white striped midi skirt. Right now and in Spring, I’m pairing it with fitted tops like this navy one. When cooler weather comes in, I think it will be perfect with a chunky knit sweater.
For my trip, I picked up another Henri Bendel Mini Jetsetter. I wanted a black travel bag, and well after looking at several brands and stores decided to buy another Jetsetter in black. I love that I can carry it as a backpack, satchel, and crossbody. For NYC, it was perfect to store heels in so I could walk around in flats and then change when I arrived at meetings and events. Last week, Henri Bendel announced they will be closing all stores and their website in January. Their bags are so durable and good quality, and I was sad to hear this news. If you have had your eye on a bag, you may want to try and scoop one up before they close next year.

How to Wear a Cardigan in Summer

Hey Ya’ll!! How was your weekend? I had a weekend mixed with relaxing, tackling my to do list, and fun times with friends. It was a good mix that has me recharged and ready for the week ahead! So first things first, my best friend who regularly shoots my blog photos had a beautiful baby boy last week. I’m so excited for her and her family! It also means I will be trying out some local Houston photographers while she is on maternity leave from taking my photos. I always love my photo sessions with her because they are usually half photo taking and half catching up on all of our life happenings. I’m going to miss it for the next month or so, but I am also loving the photographers I have worked with so far.
Anyway, let’s talk about this outfit. First off, this long green cardigan is part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and comes in a few other color options. I have a short green cardigan and always wished I had a long one in the same color. When I saw this one during Early Access, I grabbed it quick!
As someone who is always cold, I own tons of long cardigan in an array of colors. I often bring one with me to work or when I’m heading to someone’s house, even in summer, as I’m usually going to be cold. I wanted to share a few of my tips for how to wear a cardigan in summer months.
First off, I usually make sure my outfit underneath can stand alone without the cardigan. It’s 100 degrees out right now, so I need to be able to take off my cardigan when I go outside. I usually pair with fitted tanks or tees for casual weekend outfits. For work, I will wear usually pair with everything. I find long cardigan work with all my work clothes.
Second, push the sleeves up slightly to give the cardigan a lighter look. For jackets and cardigans, I like to push the sleeves up to about 3/4 length. I think it lightens up the look a little and gives it more of a spring or summer vibe.
Third, pair with summer sandals. I love adding a fun strappy heel with this look to dress it up a little. You could also go with a wedge sandals or flat sandal too.
If you are always cold like me, I hope these tips will give you a few ways to wear your long cardigans while still looking a little stylish. If you want to see more of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, check out my post from the weekend where I styled all the pieces into some summer and fall outfits. Thanks for stopping by ya’ll!

Casual Summer Dress

Happy Friday!! How was everyone’s 4th of July? It ended up raining all day with some mild flooding here in Houston. I enjoyed a relaxing day indoors before joining a friend for dinner and to watch the downtown fireworks. After a bit of a crazy work week, I am ready for a super chill and relaxing weekend.
This Leith tank dress may look a bit familiar, because I think every fashion blogger owns it, and I own it in black and have previously styled it on the blog (seen here). I love the black version, but I sometimes feel the black looks a little dressy for the casual look I sometimes want from this dress. When I was looking for other color options, I fell in love with this earthy purple color. It’s perfect for wearing under a denim jacket or stand alone with flat sandals.
I’m 5’3 and this dress comes to my knees, so for me it’s more of a midi dress look. With the bodycon fit, I like that the length sits a little longer on me. The middle is a ruched design. So even though it’s a bodycon style, it’s not super tight and has a little wiggle room. This dress comes in sooooo many color options, and it is going to be perfect for layering this fall with cardigans and boots.
Speaking of fall, we are officially one week out from the start of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!!! You know I will have you covered for all the best picks throughout the 3 weeks of the sale. I would love to know what items you plan to buy during the sale. Drop me a comment with what you are hoping to score a good deal on during the Nordstrom sale!
Ya’ll have a fabulous weekend and thanks for stopping by!
