Ok, I’m pretty sure we skipped winter this year which is fine by me! We a had a few cold days here and there, but never that several weeks of brutal cold below freezing days. I mean almost all my winter sweaters are still packed away untouched this season. With these beautiful spring days we have ahead, I am so excited to start pulling out my spring sandals and shopping for new wedges. I went to check out some of the new spring shoes last week, just browse not buy. I fell in love with these at first sight! I was on my lunch break, so I decided to wait and think about the purchase. I ended up going back after work to buy them. 🙂 I have really been wanting a nude/blush wedge with the two strap detail. I like how they pair with long jeans, shorts, and dresses. These also have a zip on the back, so they are easy to slip in and out of. I have a feeling this is only the beginning of my spring shoe buys, as I mentioned in yesterday’s post it is my favorite shoe season!
Oh and if you love my olive tunic that I wore all fall, meet it’s spring counterpart. This top is more of a thin linen type material, so perfect for hot days. It is also a little shorter, so it will pair well with capri pants and shorts this summer. Happy Wednesday Ya’ll!

I’m really no good at waiting to wear all my new fall items. I had to find a way to style this fall florals dress for summer when we were in Austin a couple weeks ago. I knew a cognac wedge would be the perfect shoe to help make this dress work in July. Cognac wedges are such a great summer shoe because the color mixes well with all colors. I recieved these Kendra Scott rose gold bracelet and rings at the Southern Blog Society Conference in June. They are my first rose gold jewelry. When I first saw this dress, I knew it would look perfect with rose gold! Since I don’t yet own any other rose gold pieces, I decide to take my first try at mixing metals. I didn’t want to be to contrasting so I stuck with gold. I went with my two favorite everyday gold necklaces from Gorjana. Since they are more simple, I thought they would mix well with another color. I also had to wear my new Kendra Scott Fran earrings! I mean they are gold and pink, so kind of like rose gold right?!? I love the way the cognac color of the wedge and gold and rose gold of the jewelry pulls out different colors from this dress. I love using my accessories to highlight certain colors of a print. And yes, I of course carried around my summer it crossbody bag while in Austin. I like that it is a creme color and can work with an array of colors as well. All about the versatility over here!

I hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July! If you follow me on Snapchat (ladyinviolet) or Instagram, you probably saw that we ventured down to Galveston, TX for our long weekend. I love being less than an hour away from the beach! Galveston has such a laid back feel to it, and it is the perfect place to kick back and relax for the weekend. I shot a few of my island style outfits over the weekend, and can’t wait to share them and a little bit about Galveston with you this week!
One of my friends always says we are on Island Time when we are in Galveston, which means throw out your schedules and just chill. Island style is all about laid back and comfortable, even when dressed up. My perfect dinner and drinks outfit in Galveston is either a bright colored shift or sun dress like from this post or a maxi skirt and tube top. I cannot get enough of this maxi skirt! I think this is about the third time I have worn it on the blog already. It is officially sold out, so if you didn’t swipe it up on a previous posting, I linked some similar options for you. The slits on the skirt really make this perfect for the beach. It really allows some breeze in, so you don’t get too hot. The black tube top adds to the laid back feel of the entire outfit. I always bring a couple tube tops with me just in case I spend a little to much time in the sun. There is nothing fun about a sunburn rubbing against a strap or sleeve. This is probably about as dressed up as I got all weekend. I love my heels, but for my island style I leave them at home and opt for only wedges or flat sandals. I think the wedges work great to help an outfit look a little more dressed up for a night out.
For our two dinner nights, we first hit up an old favorite Fisherman’s Wharf down on the Strand. This place has tons of seafood options including our favorite, the Shrimp Kisses. We sat on the upstairs enclosed balcony room which has great views of the water and the 1877 ship Elissa. We also tried a new to us restaurant, Rudy and Paco’s. This restaurant is super cute and romantic. The food is also amazing!! I highly recommend the Filete de Pargo Elegante and the Crab Bisque. We definitely plan on going back to this place next time! I have mentioned a time or two on this blog about my love for wedges. With warm weather here, it was finally time to hit the stores and pick up a few new pairs! If you follow my Instagram, you may have seen that I hit up my local DSW yesterday to peruse the wedges selection. I knew I for sure wanted to add a cognac wedge sandal to my collection this year. I have an older pair (from this post) that I wear all the time! I definitely needed a second pair in this color to help balance the work load. I like the cognac or tan/brown color because I think it compliments an array of skin tones. With this being the end of winter, I am definitely a little paler than normal. But by the end of summer, I plan to have a nice golden glow. I think this color will compliment my skin tone now and through all the phases of building that perfect summer tan. Before I headed into DSW, I did a little wedge research to see what was out there. I shared some of my favorites that I came across and even included the pair I purchased yesterday (the Franco Sarto wedge)! I also added a couple nude shades just because I really liked them. One is a major splurge, so here is hoping I can find it on sale in September! Happy Shoe Shopping!
