THE SOFTEST BLACK SWEATER

I’m wrapping up sweater season here on the blog, and I’ve saved the softest for last!  I’ve been loving all the soft, feels like a blanket sweaters this season, but this one, hands down, the softest black sweater.  It’s become one of my favorite loungewear sweaters to toss on with a black bralette and leggings. It feels like I’m wrapping myself in a blanket. If I could, I would wear it everyday.  On lounge days, it falls to more of a one shoulder fit.  The open neckline gives you a little variety on how you can wear it. I shared 3 ways in this Instagram post.

For a chic monochramtic outfit, I opted for the off shoulder style of this sweater.  Brown and black used to be such a mixing no, but I love using brown to break up an all black outfit.  It adds a pop of color and works really well with black.  I think the combo has an effortless look to it.  You could also do a black belt and black heels to keep this outfit all one color and your outfit will probably increase on the chic factor scale.

The Perfect Top to Transition From Winter to Spring

It’s that time of year that I start shopping for items, more specifically the perfect top to transition from winter to spring.  Tops are the easiest clothing item to carry across different seasons.  Although, the right dress like this one can also be a great season transitional item.

Tops work great because you can easily change the color of your jeans to match the season and instantly your top will transition into that season.  For the winter to spring transition, I look for longer sleeves, flowy styles, lightweight materials, and prints that have both light and dark colors.  This long sleeves on this peasant blouse have a smocked detailing at the wrist which makes it perfect to push up into a 3/4 length sleeve top on warm spring day.  I also love the added movement this wrist detail gives the sleeve when you walk!

The red and blue paisley print of this top work great for the winter and fall season.  A white print in the spring will make the lighter colors in this top really pop and carry it into that season.  I also like the flowy materials because spring makes me think of items with movement, and the flowy look works great with skinny jeans and boots during the winter.  For colder temps easily layer a leather jacket or cardigan over this lightweight top.

HOW TO STYLE A TUNIC SWEATER

While I’ve been loving styling the short and cropped sweaters this winter season, I decided I wanted a few longer sweaters in my winter wardrobe too.  A sweater that could work with leggings for work from home days and be styled up a little for heading out of the house.  Being petite, I try to be sure the longer sweater doesn’t overwhelm my shorter height.  I wanted to share a few tips on how to style a tunic sweater this winter season.

My main goal with this green tunic sweater was to wear it with leggings.  With a long and boxy sweater, I don’t want to add volume to my legs.  It’s almost like making this a mini dress by pairing it with a good black pair of leggings.  It helps keep my proportions balanced.  I chose my comfy leggings and black leather boots.  You could also pair this with black leather leggings and suede boots to dress it up a bit.  If you want to have that same balanced look with jeans, I would opt for a skinny jean. I think a distressed skinny jeans and nude colored heels would be perfect.

Another tip is to play with an elongated illusion with your color choice for pants and shoes.  I purposefully chose black leggings and black boots. Since the two are the same color, it elongates the look of my leg by not having a breaking point in color.  With jeans, I would opt for a flesh toned shoe which can help with this same illusion.

While not always, I sometimes like to pull my hair back in a low bun when wearing high neck tops and longer tops.  I think it helps elongate the look of your neck and face and can help add the look of  length to your overall frame.

For this green tunic sweater, I opted for a size XS since it is already a boxy oversized fit.  The sleeves are fitted which are so nice when working around the house.  I love that I’m not constantly pushing my sleeves up to get them out of the way.  This sweater comes in a few different color options, but this dark green was so gorgeous. I could not pass it up.

I know we are still a month out until Valentine’s day, but this pink tunic sweater is going fast! I knew if I waited much longer it might sell out in this light pink shade, and you would have missed out on the softest sweater.  This oversized sweater feels like I’m wearing a blanket.  The material is so soft and the perfect thickness.  Oversized long sweaters give me all the warm and cozy feels during the colder months.  I wanted a few long sweaters that I could pair with leggings for lazy days at home.

While this pink tunic sweater looks perfect with leggings, it transforms into a perfect casual Valentine’s Day outfit with the addition of my distressed jeans and booties.  The light pink shade and light blue wash of the jeans perfectly compliment each other.  These two pieces also create the perfect contrast between the softness of the sweater and ripped marks on the jeans.  Since my overall look was a light color tone, I chose a lighter shoe with my light tan booties.  A flat would work perfect here too, but I like a shoe with a small amount of heel.  It helps add a little height to my look which helps with this longer sweater and my petite height.

Are you planning a casual or dressy look this Valentine’s Day?
