My Top Tip for Styling Straight Leg Jeans
MY TOP TIP FOR STYLING STRAIGHT LEG JEANS
You may have heard rumors that skinny jeans are out. Umm I’m not packing mine away anytime soon, but I am loving the wide variety of styles coming out this season. If you are looking for to venture out of your skinny jeans, a slim straight leg jean like these is a great transitional jean. After years of wearing and styling for the skinny jean look, you may feel these new styles are a little too loose, maybe not as figure flattering. I think with a straight leg or mom jean fit, you really need to try a few different brands and styles out to find the perfect fit for your body type. A jean with a less tapered leg like the slim straight can look more flattering on certain body types than a skinny jean.
Being petite, I know that proportions play a big role in my outfit. I usually opt to pair looser bottoms with fitted tops, and skinny jeans work with both fitted and flowy which is why I like them so much. But if looser styles are taking over the jean aisle, I’m going to need to find a styling trick that doesn’t make me look shorter or frumpy, and I feel like I found it. My top tip for styling straight leg jeans, find a way to define your waist.
My top two ways to do this are shorter tops and banded waist tops. I found two tops that fit this style and are also a little more loose and flowy, so you can see how it helps your outfit not look too baggy. The pink cropped sweater creates a clear line for my waist. The cropped look brings this line a little bit highter to my more natural waist line. This allows my legs to look longer and the loose jean fit to not look as loose. This works best with a high waist jean.
My second way to define the waist is to find a top with a banded waist like this black top (previously seen here and currently on sale!). The smock waist band pulls in and defines wear the waist line sits, so you see loose on top and loose bottom, but you have something in the middle breaking up the two parts and cinching in a waist line. This does not need to be super tight or anything, just something to break up the looser fits.
With my petite height I also like adding in a neutral heel or classic pump to also help create an elongated look with my leg. It’s one of my go to petite styling tricks. Grab a pair of straight leg jeans, and give these styling tips a try.

How to Wear a Dress with Sneakers
How to Wear a Dress with Sneakers
March is here, and I’m ready to start sporting all of the spring dresses! For an errand running weekend, you can pair your dress with sneakers for an easy on the go outfit. White sneakers are perfect because white will work with a variety of colors and prints. Plus, the white helps the color of your dress POP!
My light blue dress is a super comfy sweatshirt knit material. It will keep you warm on the cooler spring days. The style and material of the dress have a more casual vibe which is perfect to pair with sneakers. Keeping with my casual vibe, I added in my little gray backpack which is perfect for an errand running day. Whenever I have a crew neckline, I love to grab this layered necklace. I think it lays perfectly over my dress for a simple everyday necklace look.
My casual weekend outfit hits all the must haves for wearing a dress with sneakers. Casual, comfy, and a little bit sporty with little feminine touches in jewelry, color combos, and a ruffle hem.

Turquoise Contrast Eyelet Pullover
Turquoise Contrast Eyelet Pullover
Our weather has been flipping lots between winter and spring weather. I lived in sweaters and layers all weekend long, and in a few days I’ll be back in dresses and shorts. It’s this season transitioning time of year that I love a fashion find like this turquoise contrast eyelet pullover sweater.
From the initial appearance, you see the bold turquoise eyelet statement sleeve that is so perfect for spring. The spring must have eyelet design pairs with a colorful abstract floral print in lots of fun and bold spring colors. First impressions, I’m here for the spring season. Now here is the good part, this top is a lightweight and soft sweatshirt material on the inside. That’s right those eyelet statement sleeves are lined to to keep you warm on those cold spring days. I love the spring and winter combo in this top so you can still enjoy the spring prints and colors while also staying warm.
A bold print like this will look so good against a pair of white jeans for an even dressier outfit! I opted for dark blue jeans and nude colored heels for a bit more on the casual side of a dressy casual look. For a quick business casual look, pair this pullover with my go to bootcut jeans from my last post.

How to Style a Floral Vest for Spring
HOW TO STYLE A FLORAL VEST FOR SPRING
Here we go, it’s time for some spring fashion! I always love putting together outfits for spring. It incorporates layering, pretty prints and silhouettes, and gorgeous colors. Not to mention, all of the fabulous heeled sandals and wedges. It’s also a great season for the basics in your closet like a plain white tee, light blue jeans, and tan sandals. I’m kicking off Spring Style hear on the blog with a mix of a few of the items I listed including a basic white top, a beautiful floral print with the perfect pops of color, and my Spring classic light blue ripped jeans
I’ve mentioned in a previous post that vests are trending for me. I love playing around with different ways to layer them. This outfit is all about how to style a floral vest for spring, but at the end of this post, I have an outfit idea for every season. It makes this cropped floral vest a year round must have for your closet. With the right styling (insert cowboy boots), this floral vest can also make a really cute western style or rodeo outfit.
For spring, I wanted to let the print and colors pop. I layered this vest over my white top which really helps colors shine. I chose a cotton button down shirt to dress up this vest outfit. The vest has a loose almost boxy fit, so the tighter fit of the shirt helps to keep the proportions balanced. I added in my light blue ripped jeans to keep the look light and bright. My nude colored heels were the perfect compliment to the dressier look that I’m creating with my button down shirt.
