My Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases officially started rolling in last week! One of my favorite things about online shopping, other than I can do it in my pajamas, is when the packages start to arrive! Even though I know what is in them, it is still exciting to rip open the box and check out the goods! I actually first saw this sweater while shopping at Nordstrom a few weeks prior to Black Friday. I really liked it, but it came in 3 colors and I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to buy. I decided to hold off until I could decide on a color. Fast forward a few weeks later, and I found this sweater included in their Black Friday markdowns!! Bonus, this sweater is STILL marked down to $20!! This sweater is on the thinner side which is often what I look for in sweaters. I mean it’s December and we are finally in the fall season down here in Texas, so I buy the majority of my sweaters on the thinner side. I decided on the teal shade because it’s a color I don’t own too much of yet, but I love this color! The other two colors are burgundy which I’m obsessed with and black also one of my color crushes. Also, just a sizing note. I typically wear a medium in this brand, but ordered in a small after reading reviews. The small fits perfect so I’m happy I chose to go down a size! Also, my boots are on sale again! When I head to Christmas parties, I sometimes like to plan an outfit with a holiday color theme. I love red, white, and gold together in an outfit. Adding a blazer to an outfit can really help set the tone or overall feel for your look. I have a cute fitted black blazer that I wear sometimes, but on occasion it kind of reminds of work or a suit. I love the trend of white or colored blazers. You can toss this white blazer over a fancy dress to help give it a more casual vibe, or pair it with a jeans look to help dress it up a bit. When I chose this blazer, I liked it for it’s open no button look. I think it lends a trendy laid back feel to it. The lace details at the neckline of this red blouse were a big selling point for me. I tend to pair this top with cardigans or blazers because I like how the lace peeks through from under the blazer. This top is a few years old and I couldn’t find anything identical, but I linked some sort of similar options for you.
My holiday festivities officially kick off tonight! My bestie’s house is part of the Holiday Home Tour in the Heights of Houston. As part of my best friend duties, I volunteered to help out tonight give tours of her house. I have seen a couple pics of some of the holiday decor she has up, but I haven’t seen it all yet. She loves her holiday decor as much as me, so I know the whole house will be fabulous. I will share a few pics over on Snapchat (ladyinviolet) if you want a peek at her decorations! My closet definitely does not hold all my clothes. I am currently super jealous of one of my friends who is turning a spare bedroom into a closet! Until that day comes for me, I will stick with my current system of packing away my seasonal clothes twice a year. It is kind of fun at the start of fall/winter to open up my totes of sweaters, boots, and jackets. Texas fall and winter is all of like 4 months, so I haven’t seen most of these clothes since about April. It is almost as exciting as getting new clothes, almost. 🙂 I also love to start mixing my old and new winter items together. I love to hit up J.Crew for some basic winter sweaters. They have a timeless look to them, and they are great quality. I usually buy 2 or 3 from them every year. This sweater pairs so perfectly with my new quilted vest from Old Navy. I always have to have something attention getting in my outfit, and this necklace is just that. I love how it peeks out from under the vest. My 1st Pair of Leather Leggings

After years of looking and indecisiveness, I finally did it. I bought my first pair of leather leggings! Well sort of leather. I have wanted a pair for a couple years because they look super chic. I love how they dress up an outfit for winter. I was hesitant because 1) I have watched that Friends episode where Ross wears leather pants one too many times and 2) they seem uncomfortable and not super forgiving. I was intrigued by these leggings because they are not actually leather or that super thin faux leather, but rather a scuba type material. I also liked that they have a more matte look versus the super shiny you see in some pairs. I tried them on 100% expecting to hate them. These leggings are actually really comfortable and fit like my normal comfy cotton and gym leggings. They are soft on the inside too. I imagined it would be sticky and uncomfortable, and would make loud swishing sounds when I walked, but it didn’t! I personally think the scuba material is a little bit more forgiving than thinner leggings, but I would still only wear tunics or long sweaters with these.
Before I purchased I also checked the washing instructions, because I had no idea how to wash something like this. The directions say to turn inside out and machine wash on gentle, lay flat to dry, and do not dry clean. Those directions work perfect for me, as that is generally how I wash many of my clothes. I haven’t officially worn them out yet, but I did lounge a bit around my house in them after taking these photos. 🙂 I told you they are comfortable. I absolutely love them paired with this red sweater. It is going to be that perfect semi-casual holiday party or happy hour outfit. This sweater has 3/4 length sleeves which is perfect for Texas winter, because we tend to overcompensate sometimes with our heaters once the temps dip below 50. I usually end up pushing my sleeves anyway at friends’ houses, so I like that the sleeves are shorter. This sweater comes in multiple colors too! Happy Monday Ya’ll and thanks for stopping by today!
