The picture above is a little sneak peek of that post. For today, I included lots of cardigans, jeans, basics, cute tops, and a couple beautiful dresses. Enjoy the post and Happy Shopping!
PICTURED ABOVE

First, these suede mules were an online purchase. They are a cute spring/summer/fall shoe, and I wore them the day I shopped. The fit is true to size (TTS). If you are looking for an affordable dark skinny jeans, this pair is a good choice. I have another pair by them, and the quality is pretty decent. I purchased this cardigan in dark green and love how comfy it is. This yellow color was my second choice.

cardigan | jeans | shoes
This cardigan is SO cozy! It’s the perfect oversized fit where it is not swallowing you, and I love that you can cuff the sleeves easily.

cardigan | jeans
I have seen so many people rave about this oversized cardigan. It was super comfy, but honestly not something I would wear much. I think it would be cozy to wear around the house. If you like these chunky open knits, then this may be the cardigan for you. The fit is very oversized. I am wearing the XS/S.

cardigan
I always love this brand, and their cardigans are a good, durable quality. They are on the pricier side, but I feel like the style and color makes this a classic staple.

cardigan | jeans | shoes
This cardigan was SOOOO soft and comfy, but way too oversized for me! I’m wearing the XS/S, and I felt it was still a couple sizes too big.
yellow plaid | jeans | shoes
I am on such a yellow kick and immediately grabbed this yellow plaid shirt. You could also wear this with black jeans or a black skirt for work.
pink long sleeve tee | jeans
I loved the coral pink color of this top, and it was really soft. Unfortunately, it was too big on me. I’m wearing the XS. These jeans would be a great everyday denim, but I would need to size down one size.

striped button down blouse | gray jeans
I’m wearing the small in this top, and it was a little big on me. Other than that, I loved the fit and construction of this striped blouse. Definitely a great basic to wear to work or on weekends with jeans.
long gray sweater | faux leather leggings
Oh these leggings, I LOVE them!! They fit like a glove and are so comfy! For winter, I would wear this outfit with a pair of suede slouchy boots. The gray sweater is really soft, and I love that it is long enough to wear with leggings.
boatneck top
This boatneck top is so perfect for fall! It comes in a few other colors, but I of course gravitated to the black and white. You would need to wear a strapless bra with this one.
long sleeve white tee | gray jeans
I love these basic tees. The white was is a little on the sheer side for me, but it’s still a great tee for layering.
blue sweater | gray jeans
I love the small scalloped and ruffle details of this sweater, and the blue is so gorgeous. This sweater could also work with black jeans or for work with both a skirt and slacks.
leather jacket | black tee
Oh this jacket, I loved it! A good quality leather, and beautiful neutral color! I wish it would have stayed a little more open in the middle.
floral dress
This dress would be so cute for work or a bridal shower. I like the ruffle bottom, but this could also make you look a little wide if the top portion isn’t fitted. I would possibly consider sizing down in this dress. I’m wearing the XS, and it was just a little loose on me.
burgundy dress
Ya’ll this dress is a stunner! The most amazing dramatic shoulder detail and gorgeous burgundy color. If you want a statement dress for weddings, events, or date night, this is it!
embroidered top | gray jeans
These jeans are my first high waist pair, and I’m obsessed! They fit like a glove and are really comfy! I wanted to wear them out of the store. I also love that I don’t need to have them hemmed. The embroidered tee was super cute, but a little too oversized for me. I’m wearing a small, and probably would have needed 2 sizes smaller.
black tee | gray jeans
A great basic tee! I’m wearing an XS which is a little loose on me. I probably could have gone one size down.
Ok, I had to try this Wayf cami, because everyone is always raving about it. I didn’t want to like it, because you can NOT wear a bra with this top. BUT, I kinda did. I’m wearing the small and would have preferred one size down. I would probably need a little double stick tape, but I think the way this top is built does hold your assets inside well.
Most of these items were what did not make my budget cut, but I still liked most of them. Oh if we could all just buy ALL the things we loved during the sale, am I right?!?! Be sure to check back tomorrow for a look at which items did make my budget (also will be on Instastories today), and for more sale goodies, check out my favorites post from last week!

What to Wear to a Formal Wedding

Happy Friday! A few weeks ago, I attended the wedding of a sweet friend of mine. I was so excited to watch the two lovebirds tie the knot, but I was also excited because the dress code was formal attire. I don’t find many occasions to wear a formal dress, so I could not wait to get all dolled up for this wedding.
I wasn’t able to take blog photos the night of the wedding with my hair all fancy, but my bestie did snap a pic for Instagram before the ceremony. I wore my hair up because of the high neckline of the dress. I think an updo is definitely the way to go with this dress.
For all my formal dress needs, I always turn to Rent the Runway. It’s a service that allows you to rent dresses for 4-8 days for a fraction of the original cost. This black lace dress retails for $515, but I paid $97 for a 4-day rental.
The process is pretty simple. On the site, enter your size and the date you need the dress, browse and favorite your top picks. Then, pick the big winner and patiently wait for the day to arrive. My dress arrived on Friday, and I had to have it back to the UPS store by Monday at 12p in a black garment bag they supply. Rent the Runway allows you to also request a back up size. I always request a backup size, and I have used it twice so far. For this dress, I ordered my normal size Small and a backup size XS. I ended up wearing the small, and it fit perfectly!
Another added bonus for Rent the Runway is they let you order a 2nd dress for $32 in case the first dress doesn’t work out. They have tons of reviews including pictures on every dress. I usually look for reviewers with my same height and weight, so I can see how the dress looked on them and the sizing they chose. I have been using this service for over 6 years for weddings, blog conferences, birthday parties, and any event where I want a gorgeous dress. If you have a formal wedding coming up, it would definitely be a place to check out.
When I was looking for what to wear to a formal wedding, I decided to go with either tea length or full length. Since I was renting and I am 5’3, I ended up nixing the tea length because I usually need this length altered. The wedding was in February, so I opted for a darker color, of course gravitating to black. I love the simple silhouette and the lace details on this one. It was perfect, and I received tons of compliments. It was easy to move and dance the night away in.
Also, this is the dress I wore with those block heel sandals I was raving about from my last post. You can’t really see them in these pics, but you can see close ups in the other post. I hope you guys have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Coral Sweater

Doesn’t this pink coral sweater just make you so ready for Spring?!?! It’s that perfect lightweight loose knit that works so well in the winter to spring transitional time of year. It comes in a few different color options, but I could not pass on such a gorgeous and bright pink. It’s the perfect color to get you in a Spring state of mind.
In person, I think the color of this sweater is a pinkish coral shade. I love the hi-lo hem on it too. I think it helps add a bit of shape to the oversized fit. The slouchy style is also the perfect pairing with my distressed skinny jeans for a laid back casual look. I added heels of course to still keep it a little fancy. 😉 Sizing note – I went one size down on this sweater to an XS.
Alright ya’ll, don’t forget to keep scrolling down for the Style File Link Up! Thanks for stopping by and hope ya’ll have a fabulous week.

Ivory Wool Coat

| OUTFIT DETAILS |
c/o Wool Peacoat | Teal Ruffle Hem Dress | Nude Heels | Elaine Turner Clutch (old) | c/o Long Pendant Necklace | Sophie Earrings
When my best friend took these photos for me, her initial comment was that this outfit was very Kate Middleton. A compliment I happily accepted because I am British Royalty obsessed over here! I spent our ice storm days this week binge watching a few episodes of The Crown on Netflix. It’s so good ya’ll!
This ivory wool coat really makes the whole outfit come to life. I feel like you could pair this coat with so many dresses and still have a polished and sophisticated look. I love the fit and flare style to add a little shape and personality to the coat when buttoned up. One little detail on this coat that really excited me was the gold buttons. I don’t like when my coat has brown buttons, and I want to wear black shoes. It’s one of those silly little things that bothers me. I’d probably never notice it on someone else, but on me not a fan. Also, we shot these photos on a really cold day, and I can vouch for this wool coat’s warmth.
Despite not living in a super cold area, I still love buying coats and jackets, but I’m not a big fan of spending too much. Living in South Texas, I really only need a coat for a month maybe two each year. It’s one of the things I like about Wilsons Leather. Their coats and jackets are top quality, but in an affordable price range. And yes, they sell more than just leather like wool and trench coats.
I hope ya’ll have a great weekend. I have plans to check out the Oscar de la Renta exhibit at our Fine Arts Museum. He was one of my favorite Red Carpet designers, so I’ll probably easily spend most of a day getting lost in a sea of his dresses. I can’t wait!
I received compensation and this product courtesy of Wilsons Leather, however, all opinions are entirely my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support Lady in Violet.
