PS – No I’m not vegan, but I do tend to eat a more plant-based diet. I fell in love with vegan cookbooks earlier this year, because they have so many plant based recipes. I like this one, because it’s not a bunch of tofu filled recipes. Just lots of whole real foods!

You may have noticed a certain pair of aviators missing from my blog posts lately. I somehow managed to misplace my favorite everyday pair of Raybans a few weeks ago. I know I came home from work with them, but that’s about it. I usually put them either back in their case or on top of the counter or dresser. I’m super careful with all my pricier sunglasses. I feel like I have searched everywhere, and I just cannot find them. I also refuse to buy another pair right now, because I know they have to be here somewhere, and I will probably find them as soon as I buy new ones.
I did realize that maybe it was time to invest in a new different pair of everyday shades in addition to all my RayBan aviators. One reason I always buy aviators is because I know they look good on my face shape. I have several pairs of sunglasses in my dresser that looked great on in the store, but after I wore them for a week or two, I didn’t like them anymore. I found this website that allows you to rent sunglasses for a monthly rate and even buy a pair if you like them. This is exactly what I need on my search for new sunglasses. I want a fun designer pair, but if I’m going to shell out $100+, I want to be sure I love them!!!!
So be prepared over the next few months, I will be showcasing my sunglass rentals here on the blog. I’m kinda excited to share this little shopping journey with you all. I am renting sunglasses through Ditto, which by the way is giving all my readers a free month with code LADYINVIOLET! I like this site because they carry many of the brands and styles I want to try out. I’m going to keep each pair for a few weeks, so some may get featured in more outfit photos depending on my shooting schedule (which pretty much depends on the weather!). I will be sure to include each pair I try in at least one or two posts, so you can see what Ditto has to offer. I’m plan on sharing my reviews of each pair, and hopefully crown a new everyday sunnies winner by mid summer!
The first pair I requested was the Karen Walker Number One Sunglasses in Tortoise. This pair hit on a few things I wanted to try – 1)a pair of Karen Walker sunnies, 2) Oversized Sunglasses, and 3)Tortoise frames. The price tag on these is about $240-250, although I do seem to find them on sale every few months for under $200. My first impression of these is that they feel super durable. I feel like if I dropped these they would survive the fall, sorry not going to test that theory. 🙂 They do occasionally feel a bit heavy especially compared to my super lightweight aviators. I’ve been wearing these for about a week, and I think I’m getting used to a little extra weight. They do a good job blocking out the sun, and don’t move around on my face too much. I’m not 100% sold on the oversized look on my face. Sometimes I love it, and then I see a photo and I’m like not so much. I do like the tortoise frames though. I think it softens the sunglasses a bit as compared to black frames. I also think the tortoise is more versatile and can mix and match with both black and brown outfits, silver or gold jewelry, and all the bright summer colors.
What are your thoughts on the Karen Walker Number Ones? Love them or Pass?
Don’t forget you can try out Ditto for FREE for one month with code LADYINVIOLET, and you too can sample a fun designer pair of shades!

I’m starting off the week with another outfit from Charleston! I wore this dress during our second day in the city. I brought a denim vest to pair with it, but I decided to go with my jacket because it was still a little chilly. I LOVE this embroidered dress!! The overall fit of the dress is slightly big which really allows you to move, breath, and stay cool. I love the colors in the embroidered flowers. I went with my dark pink Kendra Scott earrings to really play off the red and pink of the flowers. The middle of this dress is open, but I really don’t feel like you can tell unless you are up close. The only downside I have to this dress is that it wrinkles easy and is hard to iron. Since this is more casual day dress, it doesn’t bother me too much, but I wanted to give you fair warning in case that is a deal breaker for you.
This dress is by Tularosa which is kinda my brand crush right now. Their clothes remind me of sophisticated boho chic. This style is right up my alley for spring and summer, so don’t be surprised if you see more from them on the blog this summer. I found their clothes at several of my favorite shopping sites, but their biggest selection is at Revolve.
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I took my Shop with Heart card and did a little shopping including a stop at my ultimate brand crush, Kendra Scott. I have been craving some turquoise jewelry for summer, so I picked up this bracelet and these earrings. Stay tuned because they will be on the blog in the coming weeks!! Have a great week and thanks for swinging by!

I am so happy today is Friday, but not for my normal ready for the weekend reason. Today, Houston is not forecasted to have any rain!! On Monday morning, the entire city was pounded with tons of rain. The city shut down as streets and neighborhoods were flooded, but that was only the beginning. The massive amounts of rain filled our creeks, bayous and rivers causing them to overflow into area neigborhoods. A little bit of flooding in certain areas has become normal in Houston when we have a hard rain, but this time the flooding affected many new areas as most of our creeks and bayous crested or hit “flood stage.” Our news is filled with images of people being rescued by boats and giant trucks because none of us realized how crazy the flooding would be. On top of that, Houston has had sporadic storms every day since only adding to the problem. My family and I are all very lucky to not have flooding in our homes or cars. Our weather forecast now is filled with sunshine and very little rain, something all of us here in Houston are grateful for!
All of this craziness this week has made my vacation feel like forever ago! It’s hard to believe it was just last weekend. I wore this outfit out during our first full day in Charleston. I love this as the perfect summer vacation outfit. The weather in Charleston ended up being a bit cooler than we expected, so I tossed this cardigan on over my top. If you are looking for a easy breezy summer top, this is it! I love the cute eyelet details and the ruffle. The material is really lightweight perfect for the hot summer days to come. I also cannot brag on these sandals enough. I wore them all 3 days in Charleston for massive amounts of walking. My friend has a FitBit, and we walked around 8-10 miles per day. I liked that these sandals are enclosed. I think it helps add support during hours of walking. Some of my other friends were sporting Converse shoes, and all said they were very comfy for our walking adventures. I may need to invest in them for my next trip!
