Houndstooth Coat
Houndstooth Coat | Striped Turtleneck Top | Black Skinny Jeans | Similar Suede Boots | Earrings
Well, I have some exciting news for the week! I purchased my wedding dress earlier this week which is also why this post is a little late. After spending two weekends trying on dresses, I headed back to one of the stores after work to try back on my favorite and was sold. As a lover of playing dress up, I really wish I could have like 3 or 4 dress changes throughout the night!
Speaking of playing dress up, this houndstooth coat is the perfect statement coat to dress up any outfit. It has a cocoon shape which gives it a chic and classic silhouette. Houndstooth print is pretty on trend right now, and this black and white print also has a timeless feel.
I wore this with an all black ensemble and brown heels a few weekends ago. I could not pass on the opportunity to show you a little print mix by pairing this coat with a thin striped turtleneck. A colorful floral top would also be a great print pairing. The cocoon one-button style of this coat makes it perfect to pair over a sheath dress for work or date night. This black and white print would be perfect with a fun pop of color underneath like a dark pink fitted dress.
We have some freezing temps headed in this weekend, so I may have a few more chances to wear this coat before winter ends!

What I Wore in January
January was quite the busy month over here! We started the month in the country visiting Steve’s family, started planning our wedding including lots of venue tours, and also fit in lots of comfy cozy winter days.
It was fun to have a few weekends to get a little dressed up when we visited various wedding venues in the area. I don’t have many reasons to dress up right now, so I take all the excuses I can! I had a few comfy sweaters make their way into rotation this month along with a statement coat or two.
Keep scrolling for a look at what I wore last month!

Easy Sausage and Cream Cheese Dip
Where are my football fans at? Mixing it up with a yummy and super easy party snack recipe just in time for Sunday’s big game! This sausage and cream cheese dip recipe has been a long time favorite of mine, and I introduced Steve to it this year. We wanted something different than our normal queso and chips, and I thought of this old favorite. He was instantly hooked and requested it be added into our football snack rotation.
It’s so easy to make, and you only need THREE ingredients! I personally love to use fire roasted diced tomatoes, but you can use the regular or mix it up with one of the other varities. Serve this party dip with either tortilla chips or corn chips.
Not only is this dip only 3 ingredients, but you can also make it in one pan for easy cleanup. Once I brown the sausage, I remove to drain and add in my cream cheese to soften for a bit before mixing in a can of diced tomatoes and green chiles.
Stir those two ingredients together until the cheese is melted and smooth. I stir almost constantly to prevent the cheese from burning on the bottom of the pan.
Once you have a smooth consistency, add back in your browned sausage and mix to combine. Your dip is now ready to serve! Yes this dip is that easy!!
This sausage and cream cheese dip is great right off the stove when it’s still warm. One of the perks of this dip, it still tastes yummy at room temperature. I personally prefer it about 20-30 minutes after it’s done cooking. A dip than doesn’t need to stay warm all party or game long is perfect in my book.
What is your favorite football party snack??

An oversized sweater dress ranks pretty high on my top winter work from home pieces. You feel put together and polished in a dress, and you are still super comfy for a day at home. You could also toss on some black leggings and cozy socks to stay extra warm. Of course to ease this dress back into outside of the home adventures, I have two different looks changed up with one super simple accessory add on.
For an oversized and boxy sweater dress, I love tossing on a pair of heeled boots. For my petite height, I opted for a pair that hit just under my knee. Letting a little leg show between the bottom of the dress and the top of my boot will help prevent the boxy dress from looking like it’s too big and overwhelming my frame. If you are a bit taller and this dress hits you a little higher, you could opt for an over the knee boot to complete your look.
If you scroll down, you will find outfit number 2 featuring one simple accessory add – a black belt. This add on does two things. First, it adds definition to the waistline and shape to your figure. Second, it makes the dress a bit shorter which works really well with my shorter height. It also helps take a more boho chic winter outfit and add a little polish for the office.
Scroll up to see without the belt and scroll down to see the belt added in. Then head to the comments and let me know which version is your favorite!
