When I purchased this poncho, I immediately pictured wearing it with black skinnies and boots in the winter. Although, it is quickly also becoming a fun end of summer piece. I have brought it with me on a few summer trips to use during lounge time. One thing about Texas is the hotter it is outside, the colder it is inside. I usually end up under blankets in hotels or vacation homes, and so I have loved having this poncho around to wear as a cute little blanket/sweater. I love how the distressed shorts, fringe, and earrings create a fun boho vibe. I think it is the perfect laid-back look for summer especially on a beach vacation!

I’m really no good at waiting to wear all my new fall items. I had to find a way to style this fall florals dress for summer when we were in Austin a couple weeks ago. I knew a cognac wedge would be the perfect shoe to help make this dress work in July. Cognac wedges are such a great summer shoe because the color mixes well with all colors. I recieved these Kendra Scott rose gold bracelet and rings at the Southern Blog Society Conference in June. They are my first rose gold jewelry. When I first saw this dress, I knew it would look perfect with rose gold! Since I don’t yet own any other rose gold pieces, I decide to take my first try at mixing metals. I didn’t want to be to contrasting so I stuck with gold. I went with my two favorite everyday gold necklaces from Gorjana. Since they are more simple, I thought they would mix well with another color. I also had to wear my new Kendra Scott Fran earrings! I mean they are gold and pink, so kind of like rose gold right?!? I love the way the cognac color of the wedge and gold and rose gold of the jewelry pulls out different colors from this dress. I love using my accessories to highlight certain colors of a print. And yes, I of course carried around my summer it crossbody bag while in Austin. I like that it is a creme color and can work with an array of colors as well. All about the versatility over here!

I had a fabulous time on my girls’ getaway in Galveston this past weekend!! I braved the paddle board for the first time in the bay canal, super scary but fun! I’m such a sun baby, so I loved all the time we spent walking on the beach, kayaking, and just laying out on the deck reading good books. Although, my weekend did start out a bit crazy. I was driving down alone and got a flat tire just shy of Galveston. Thankfully, two of my friends were about 20 minutes behind me, so I didn’t have to be alone for too long!! I have to give a huge thanks to them and the most awesome good Samaritan/stranger for rescuing me and changing my tire on Friday! Not the perfect start to the weekend, but one where you sit back and count your blessings for great friends and the kindness of strangers. 🙂
My bestie also snapped some fun blog photos for me this weekend which I will start posting later this week!! We are currently in the middle of a major heat wave here in Houston. The high today is 104!!!!!! I love my sun and warm weather, but all these 100+ days have me dreaming of slightly cooler fall weather. The kind that is perfect for light dresses and booties. I have a major obsession with these Naughty Monkey booties!! I bought them last year, and they are still available!! I love pairing them with dresses. They remind me a little of like miniature cowboy boots. Also, they are super comfy! I wore them to the airport last winter and walked in them all day with no problems. This dress is one of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, but it sold out before the sale opened to the public. I went ahead and linked it just in case some come back in stock. I love casual and easy dresses like this one. On weekends, I love having something like this to throw on to run errands or meet up with friends and family. I can’t wait to wear this dress later in the fall with tall boots too. It is definitely a dress that works with a variety of shoes like booties, tall boots, flats, and wedges. The versatility makes this dress more wearable across several seasons, a favorite aspect for me.

Casual and comfy not only describes this outfit, but how I plan to be dressed all weekend long! I am heading down to Galveston for a fun and relaxing girls’ weekend! I look forward to this weekend every year. It’s filled with lots of sun, wine, games, and girl talk. This dolman tee is always a beach staple for me. I love being able to toss it on over my swimsuit as a coverup with some distressed shorts. The material is lightweight and oversized so it works perfectly at night to sip wine on the deck when the water breezes can make it a bit cooler. I purchased this color combo a couple years ago, but it is still available in other shades. The mineral and heather white is my personal favorite. Much like the last time I ventured down to Galveston, my wardrobe this time will be casual and relaxed. Sandals like these are a must! Thanks to our 100 degree weather, these shorts are getting some good use this year. I purchased them at an end of summer sale last year, but I linked some similar options for you. I liked these because they were a bit longer than some shorts I have seen. Distressed shorts already have rips that reveal a little skin so I don’t want them to also be overly short. I think there is something about showing just the right amount of skin in these types of shorts. I tried to make sure the ones I linked were also on the “longer” side.
