Hello friends! With October coming to a close this week, I am taking a look back at some of my favorite outfits from the past month. We started the month hot and than transitioned to cooler weather, and my outfits show it! I started the month in shorts and ended it in a cozy sweater. I also went to a few cocktail parties and fancy date nights this month, so I have a few glam looks at the end.
Hope you enjoy this look back at my October outfits of the day, and you can always see more of these on Instagram, on my shop Instagram page on the blog or in the LiketoKnow.it app. Hope ya’ll have a great week ahead!

Top 5 Dark Nail Colors to Try This Season

Hello friends! Once fall hits, I love to start pulling out all my dark nail polish colors! I’m a big fan of dark nails and fall and winter is the perfect time to wear all my favorite shades. Over the years, I have grown quite the collection too. Pro Tip: Help your dark nail colors last longer by applying a top coat every 2-3 days. I love this one.
When purchasing dark nail colors, I always check the consistency too. I look for thicker polishes that will allow for easier touch ups. If a polish is too thin, it may take multiple layers to coverup any chips. I try to find one thick enough to get the touch up job done in one swipe.
Keep scrolling to check out my top 5 dark colors to try this season and let me know your favorite in the comments!
TOP 5 DARK NAIL POLISH COLORS

1. DARK NAVY
A dark navy polish is one of this season’s hot nail color trends. It took me a few stores to finally find the perfect dark navy shade. I wanted something super dark and not too blue. This color does occasionally look black in certain lighting, but you can definitely see the navy blue in it too.

2. BURGUNDY
A burgundy nail polish is a fall classic. I use this one on fingers and toes during the fall and winter season. Burgundy is a great color for early fall and those not quite ready for the super dark or trendy colors.

3. GRAY
As a gray obsessed gal, I have gray nail polish shades from light to ultra dark. This medium gray shade is perfect for fall and winter. It’s not so dark that it looks black, and this shade goes with all the fall jewel tone colors of your closet.

4. DARK TEAL
If you want to break from the expected dark nail colors, I highly recommend a dark teal nail polish. It’s fun and a little different. This shade is also perfect for holiday season. Side note on teal and green polishes, the blue and yellow colors do seperate over time in the bottle. Just make sure to check in on them throughout the year and shake a little. I also rotate the bottle and place them upside down a few times to meld the colors back together.

5. CHARCOAL GRAY
To conclude my top 5, my it color from last year. If you want something super dark but not quite black, try a dark charcoal gray polish. I splurged on this one because it was the exact color I had spent weeks searching for. It’s a great alternative to black and goes with everything!

Thanksgiving Outfit Idea

When I started putting this post together, I thought maybe I should hold on this one until it’s closer to Thanksgiving. Then, I realized that Thanksgiving is just over a month away! I mean where the did year go! I have a few different types of holiday looks for you this year from casual dinner to office holiday party to this dressy casual look perfect for an evening celebration.
This Thanksgiving outfit idea would also work for Christmas or just a nice dinner out. The satin material, dark jewel tone color, and button sleeve details on this top dress is up perfectly for the holidays. I paired it with jeans for a semi-casual look, but you can easily dress it up with pencil or pleated midi skirt.
To add a little holiday fun to this look, I added in some red tassel statement earrings and my snakeskin heels. Tan suede flats and gold stud earrings would be another alternative. I also added in my greens stone necklace. I think the two greens together are fun and add to the sophisticated chic look of the top. This top also comes in a few other colors. I went with this gorgeous dark green because it’s not a color I have too much of in my closet.
What is your typical Thanksgiving outfit style? My family is usually a little more casual with sneakers, booties, and more casual tops.

Blue Tunic Top + Faux Leather Leggings

Is it time to pull out the leather leggings yet? I have had this pair for a few years, and I always love that instant chic factor they give to a look! You may remember I purchased the Spanx faux leather leggings during the Nordstrom sale. Sad news though, I accidentally tossed them out when I was cleaning up post sale. They had fallen into a shoe box with black tissue paper, and I didn’t realize it until a few days later. Ya’ll I was so bummed! I’m hoping to find them on sale again and re-purchase.
I like the ones I’m wearing because they have more of a leather look to them where the Spanx ones look like coated leggings up close. BUT my current ones tend to look loose around the knees and the spanx ones stay fit to the leg. It kind of depends on the look you are going for and the price. My current ones are cheaper than the spanx ones. FYI – the ones linked are the same brand and style, just there current version. Mine are from about 2-3 years ago, and the quality is good for the price. After a few years of wearing and washing, they still look new too!
An easy pairing with leather leggings is a tunic top and suede boots. For all my petite gals out there, this blue henley tunic top is the perfect length!! I plan to buy it in more colors because the length is so perfect! These tops go with everything and come in so many colors! Pair them over leggings with skinny jeans and booties, tucked into a skirt, or a front tuck with shorts and sneakers. It’s a great top to have in your closet, and bonus it usually doesn’t need ironing!
This outfit has me ready for girls’ night out or date night!
