What I Wore in August
Hello Ladies! Hope your weekend went well. I celebrated my birthday all weekend long with a few mini celebrations with friends and family. I was excited to pull out a few of my new dresses and things for the celebrations. I also am still enjoying leftover birthday desserts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It was a hot one this month which meant lots of heat friendly outfits like shorts and tank tops. As you saw from my Nordstrom Sale buys, I’m starting to add more basics and casual pieces while we continue spending most of our time at home. I’m excited to start mixing in a few fall pieces as we kick off September and utilize some of those summer to fall transitioning tips that I’ve shared this past month.

White & Black Embroidered Top
We’ve been talking lots about transitioning our outfits from Summer to Fall this month, and this outfit is going to be a really good transitioning outfit. The white and black embroidered top is lightweight and breezy which makes it perfect for a hot summer day paired with shorts. To ease this summery top in to fall, I tossed on a pair of black skinny jeans and brown booties. It’s a few of the tips I shared previously on transitioning summer tops to fall. In fall, I start pulling out my black skinny jeans more to help make some of my summer tops work in fall looks. Since we have a pretty warm fall, this sleeveless blouse will help balance the look with the warmer weather. A fall favorite color combo of mine is black and brown. I love pairing my black jeans with brown booties and handbags. It adds a simple pop of color to the black and white look and gives you more of a casual vibe to the overall outfit.

Summer Outfit | Cutoff Jean Shorts
Closing out shorts week with a summer closet must have – cutoff jean shorts. With my outfits lately leaning way over on the casual side, I’ve been wearing some of my older cutoff denim shorts lots. I decided to go ahead and add another pair because my other are a little too big. Jean shorts are something I 100% prefer to try on in-store because you never know what size you might need or how different styles will look.
I’d been hearing lots of good things about this pair, so I decided to give online shorts buying a try. I ordered two sizes, my regular jean size and one size up to compare fit. In the end, I kept the pair in my regular jean size. What I love about these shorts is that they aren’t super tight or too short. They even have a good amount of length in the back. The looser fit design made my normal size fit perfectly. The next size up had to much room in the leg area and made me look a little too wide. I also ordered these in a faded black wash that I think will be great for transitioning into the warm fall weather when we still need our shorts.

What I Wore in July
Pretty fitting for my shorts themed week, my what I wore last week post features many shorts outfits! I added the paperbag shorts featured earlier this week, and these denim shorts will be reviewed later this week. Many of these outfits were from days spent at home or running a couple errands with a few days getting dressed up for a family visit or virtual baby shower. Next week, I will start my official blog coverage although it will look a little different this year. Most of my shares will be roundups of items vs the try ons and full outfit blog posts. I decided not to shop in store this year, and I have a feeling my order will not arrive in time for my normal big try on blog post as in past years. I checked out the preview over the weekend, and I found some really great pieces, and I can’t wait to start shopping the sale with ya’ll soon!
