Pink Cotton Pants under $50 + Link Up

Happy 4th of July!! Have any big plans for today? We celebrated Saturday night with friends and fireworks. It was fun and the guys got all the firework popping out of their system for another year.
I have been searching for a comfy pair of pink cotton pants for a few months now. My sister raved about these cotton twill ones to me last month. She owns them in multiple colors and loves the fit and that they don’t get baggy. She mentioned she preferred them over jeans when it’s hot because they breath a little better. I feel like when someone buys something in multiple colors, it has to be good. A week later, I ordered these pink ones and an olive pair, because they were under $50 and I had been looking for olive pants too. I wore the olive ones a couple weekends ago to a party, and ya’ll so comfy!! I would agree with everything my sister said about them.
For a size reference, I am wearing a 6 Short. I usually wear a 4/27 in jeans. I’m 5’3 and the short is a little long for what I want. I have them rolled in about an inch in the photos and could probably use a little more with these wedges. I’m planning to have them altered soon, but I always like to wear pants a couple times first to be 100% sure how long I want them. I’ll probably end up doing these just above ankle. Oh and bonus for you guys, all colors of these pants are 40% off today as part of a holiday sale, so they are only $27! Total Score!
This plain white tee is the same one I wore in this post a few weeks back. I love a white and pink combo for summer, and of course I’m always cold inside so a denim jacket was an instant add on. I made sure to snap a pic without the jacket so you can see why I love this top. Not sheer or see through, no need to wear anything underneath but a bra. I love this for hot summer days when you just want to wear a plain white tee.
So I’m going to be playing around with the layouts of my posts for the next few ones. I just want to try something new, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Love or Hate where I have moved info too?? Shoot me an email at ladyinvioletblog@gmail.com and let me know. I want to be sure you can still easily and quickly find everything you need in each post. Thanks for spending a bit of your holiday with me and be sure to scroll on down because it is also Style File Link up day!!! Can’t wait to see what you share!

Hello from Galveston! We drove up last night and plan to hit up a couple hot spots this morning before all the weekenders arrive, and then relax on the beach all afternoon. I am so ready for this mini-vacation.
I wanted to share a few of my spring and summer wardrobe staples today. Wardrobe staples are the base of any great closet. They are the pieces that can be mixed and matched into a multitude of outfits all season long. A great pair of non-distressed jeans is key to any wardrobe really year round. For spring and summer, I like the mid-blue shade for a lighter look. I also keep a few pairs unaltered so I can create a cute cuffed look. The cuff looks cute with wedges, sneakers, and flat sandals.
A great neutral wedge sandal is must have shoe for spring and summer. I try to find one in a shade that will mix with both cool and warm color tones. Versatility from the sandal design is also important. I want a wedge that will work with dresses, jeans, and shorts. I find a design that has either a slight or deep dip in the front best for this range. The ones featured are a good example of a deep dip with the addition of laces around the ankle.
A basic white blouse is another wardrobe staple that is really great year round. You can layer with it in the fall, and this season use it as a backdrop for all the fun and colorful statement jewelry available. I also like white because it keeps you a bit cooler.
My brown and black tote bag is easily one of my best bag purchases. A good sized tote bag is great for days when you need to carry all the things. A reversible one is also perfect because you can pick the color that works best with your outfit for the day.
Summer time also often means vacation time and having these wardrobe staples can also help you pack lighter. You can carry the same bag, re-wear the jeans and wedges, and even remix a white blouse into casual and dressy looks. What are some of your spring and summer wardrobe staples?
Ya’ll have a good weekend. I am going to go get my sun on!

Hello! How was your weekend? Do anything exciting? We kept it pretty chill because we thought it was going to rain all weekend, spoiler alert – it did not, but it was cloudy. I spent a little bit of the weekend perusing the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and shared a few of my favorites HERE.
One item I wear tons year round is my blue denim jacket. It’s perfect to pair with dresses, tank tops, camisoles, and tshirts, just to name a few. I have had several days where I really wished I had a white jacket, so I went searching for a lightweight affordable one. It needed to be lightweight since it does get warm down here in Houston.
This white denim jacket popped up first in my search and had so many good reviews. I looked over a few more, but I decided to give this one a go. It was one of the more affordable jacket options I found that also had a high reviews.
I’m so happy with my purchase too. It’s the perfect lightweight denim for warmer days, but will still keep my warm when people blast the AC indoors. After reading reviews, I sized up to a Medium, and I think it was a good decision. It can be buttoned if needed and still provides a little shape if left open.
I’m always cold, so I often bring a jacket or cardigan with me. White is such a great neutral that can easily work with so many outfit combos. I plan on bringing this jacket along anytime I am wearing my blue jeans, a cute sundress, or just a fun colorful top and black jeans like in today’s outfit post.

Hello friends! Are you ready for the weekend?!?!? It’s expected to rain most of the weekend here which normally is kind of a bummer, but we decided a cozy relaxing weekend in sounds really nice. We’ve been pretty busy lately, and I think the break is a welcome one.
Summer is slowly creeping up on us, so I wanted to share a go to look of mine for warmer days. I love the look of distressed shorts, but I find most pairs are too short for my liking. My daisy dukes days are long over my friends. 🙂 I spotted this pair at Nordstrom for only $39 and loved not only the length, but the minimal distressing too. It’s just enough to be on trend, but not so much that you can see all that’s underneath them. They come in a few other colors, and I’m currently debating on buying a white pair too. I mean you can’t pass up on a comfy pair of distressed shorts under $40!
Sizing Note: I went one size up because I like a looser fit to my shorts. I did try on my normal size too, and they did fit but not the more comfortable loose look I prefer for shorts.
Kimonos are one of my favorite items to pair with shorts. They give off a boho vibe and can provide a little extra coverage on the back side. Plus, they really make your plain old tee and shorts combo look super chic and effortless. I kept with my boho vibe and paired this look with my peep toe booties, but wedges or flat sandals would work too.
I hope ya’ll have a fabulous weekend, and thanks for taking some time out of your week to stop by and visit.
