Hello! How was your weekend? Do anything exciting?  We kept it pretty chill because we thought it was going to rain all weekend, spoiler alert – it did not, but it was cloudy.  I spent a little bit of the weekend perusing the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale and shared a few of my favorites HERE.

One item I wear tons year round is my blue denim jacket.  It’s perfect to pair with dresses, tank tops, camisoles, and tshirts, just to name a few.  I have had several days where I really wished I had a white jacket, so I went searching for a lightweight affordable one.  It needed to be lightweight since it does get warm down here in Houston.

This white denim jacket popped up first in my search and had so many good reviews.  I looked over a few more, but I decided to give this one a go.  It was one of the more affordable jacket options I found that also had a high reviews.

I’m so happy with my purchase too.  It’s the perfect lightweight denim for warmer days, but will still keep my warm when people blast the AC indoors.  After reading reviews, I sized up to a Medium, and I think it was a good decision.  It can be buttoned if needed and still provides a little shape if left open.

I’m always cold, so I often bring a jacket or cardigan with me.  White is such a great neutral that can easily work with so many outfit combos.  I plan on bringing this jacket along anytime I am wearing my blue jeans, a cute sundress, or just a fun colorful top and black jeans like in today’s outfit post.

I’m starting off the week with another outfit from Charleston!  I wore this dress during our second day in the city.  I brought a denim vest to pair with it, but I decided to go with my jacket because it was still a little chilly.  I LOVE this embroidered dress!!  The overall fit of the dress is slightly big which really allows you to move, breath, and stay cool.  I love the colors in the embroidered flowers.  I went with my dark pink Kendra Scott earrings to really play off the red and pink of the flowers.  The middle of this dress is open, but I really don’t feel like you can tell unless you are up close.  The only downside I have to this dress is that it wrinkles easy and is hard to iron.  Since this is more casual day dress, it doesn’t bother me too much, but I wanted to give you fair warning in case that is a deal breaker for you.

This dress is by Tularosa which is kinda my brand crush right now.  Their clothes remind me of sophisticated boho chic.  This style is right up my alley for spring and summer, so don’t be surprised if you see more from them on the blog this summer.  I found their clothes at several of my favorite shopping sites, but their biggest selection is at Revolve.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  I took my Shop with Heart card and did a little shopping including a stop at my ultimate brand crush, Kendra Scott.  I have been craving some turquoise jewelry for summer, so I picked up this bracelet and these earrings.  Stay tuned because they will be on the blog in the coming weeks!!  Have a great week and thanks for swinging by!

Hey there Monday!!  I had such a busy weekend that Monday seemed to sneak up on me this week.  My cousin’s wedding was this weekend, and it was gorgeous! I posted what I wore over on Instagram, but I also plan on shooting it for the blog too.  The shoes I ordered to wear with the dress don’t come in until today, so I wanted to wait to shoot the look how I originally planned on wearing it.  Luckily, I had plenty of backup shoe options!

I’m also getting ready for a really fun girl’s trip that I’m taking in a couple weeks.  We are heading to Charleston, and I am so excited to get to really explore this city with friends.  I’m slowly planning my outfits for the trip, and I’m hoping to share  little bit about how I pack for a vacation and a fun little travel guide of our trip to Charleston.  Just a few things to look forward too!

I recently purchased a few pairs of flat shoes for my trip because Charleston is such a walking city.  These lace-up flats are a shoe I have been searching for for awhile.  I was kind of picky about what I wanted from no metal studs, to the lace design on the top of the foot, and I wanted them under $100.  I bought these during a sale, but regular price they still aren’t bad at $70.  They are a year-round shoe style, and one I can wear to the office with skirts.

This whole outfit may end up going on my trip with me.  I definitely plan on bringing my denim jacket.  It’s such an amazing and versatile closet staple.  I toss it on with casual looks like this one and over dresses too.  My look today is super neutral, so the jacket adds a little color.  I also added in some fun colorful jewelry and my pink bag for a few more pops of color.  This little crossbody bag is 100% coming on my trip!  It’s the perfect size to hold my big DSLR camera along with all my other purse things.  This color is sold out, but they do still have it in a darker pink color and some other fun colors too!

So I have to mention my black and gold bangle, it is actually a hair tie attached to a bangle.  It’s the coolest thing ever!  One of my blogger friends had one, and I really wanted one!  I was super excited to receive one in a swag bag at a blogger brunch a few weeks ago.  Definitely coming on my trip with me!

Hope ya’ll have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Okay, yes you have seen me post this dress a bunch over the past few months, but it is such a versatile dress!!  I have worn it to work, church, baby showers, blogger events, and it is also perfect for the rodeo!  Since I have shared a day and evening rodeo look, I figured I would share a what I would wear to the Rodeo Cookoff outfit.  Okay, so if you have never been to or heard of the rodeo cookoff, the general idea is a bunch of giant tents with people trying to prepare the best barbecue (brisket, sausage, beans, etc).  Throughout the cookoff, judges pick the best dishes and crown cookoff winners.  Of course, there is also live bands, djs, dancing and drinking involved.  It’s a huge party!  It is also one of the first rodeo events, kind of a pregame or preparty to the actual rodeo.

I have mentioned before that you will leave smelling like smoked meat.  It’s just part of the fun. 🙂  When picking an outfit, I look for items that are easy to wash or don’t absorb the smell.  Both my dress and jacket are machine washable at home, so I can  easily wash them a couple times myself.  I find my leather boots don’t really hold the smoke smell, so any of my boots typically will work.  You also do lots of walking and primarily all standing, so wear comfy shoes!  I love my heels, but this is one night that I leave them at home. I find my cowboy boots to be really comfy, and a little spilled beer or dirt only makes them look more rustic.  Most of the party/live music portion of cook-off happens at night, so you definitely want to incorporate a jacket into your outfit.  I went with denim, because I think it makes the look feel a little more country.  A denim jacket also give you the option to slightly roll up your sleeves if the weather is a little warmer.  I added my fun party fringe earrings and long pendant necklace to add a little glam and sparkle to my look.  My last outfit recommendation would be a cross-body bag!  You will need your hands for plates of barbecue and drinks, so you don’t want to be holding a purse.  Also, the event gets really crowded and a smaller purse makes maneuvering through crowds a little easier!

If you need more outfit inspiration for the rodeo, check out my posts here, here and here!   If you are heading to the rodeo here in Houston, I’d love to hear what concerts you are heading too and what your favorite food, activity, or event at the rodeo is!  Leave it in the comments below!
