How to Wear a Cardigan in Summer
Hey Ya’ll!! How was your weekend? I had a weekend mixed with relaxing, tackling my to do list, and fun times with friends. It was a good mix that has me recharged and ready for the week ahead! So first things first, my best friend who regularly shoots my blog photos had a beautiful baby boy last week. I’m so excited for her and her family! It also means I will be trying out some local Houston photographers while she is on maternity leave from taking my photos. I always love my photo sessions with her because they are usually half photo taking and half catching up on all of our life happenings. I’m going to miss it for the next month or so, but I am also loving the photographers I have worked with so far.
Anyway, let’s talk about this outfit. First off, this long green cardigan is part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and comes in a few other color options. I have a short green cardigan and always wished I had a long one in the same color. When I saw this one during Early Access, I grabbed it quick!
As someone who is always cold, I own tons of long cardigan in an array of colors. I often bring one with me to work or when I’m heading to someone’s house, even in summer, as I’m usually going to be cold. I wanted to share a few of my tips for how to wear a cardigan in summer months.
First off, I usually make sure my outfit underneath can stand alone without the cardigan. It’s 100 degrees out right now, so I need to be able to take off my cardigan when I go outside. I usually pair with fitted tanks or tees for casual weekend outfits. For work, I will wear usually pair with everything. I find long cardigan work with all my work clothes.
Second, push the sleeves up slightly to give the cardigan a lighter look. For jackets and cardigans, I like to push the sleeves up to about 3/4 length. I think it lightens up the look a little and gives it more of a spring or summer vibe.
Third, pair with summer sandals. I love adding a fun strappy heel with this look to dress it up a little. You could also go with a wedge sandals or flat sandal too.
If you are always cold like me, I hope these tips will give you a few ways to wear your long cardigans while still looking a little stylish. If you want to see more of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases, check out my post from the weekend where I styled all the pieces into some summer and fall outfits. Thanks for stopping by ya’ll!

Must Have Item to Keep in Your Bag
Hello Ya’ll! I’m going to let you in on a must have item that I almost always have in my bag. Are you ready for it? A pair of foldable flats! As an avid shoe lover, this may come as no surprise that I tote around extra pairs of shoes. Ha! Foldable flats have been a staple for me for quite some time. I always have a pair in my work bag for those days when I need to kick off my heels and run all the errands on my lunch break or after work. This pair in particular is thinner, so they fold pretty small and fit inside a cute little black pouch. It takes up almost no room in my purse, and the little bag keeps any dirt residue from the bottom of my shoe from getting in my purse. I also love to carry a pair for days when I’m breaking in new shoes, in case I get to a breaking point and need a shoe change.
These flats are so chic and comfy. I plan to take them with me on my next trip, especially if lots of walking is involved. I always wear foldable flats on the plane because you can slip them on and off so easily. This snakeskin brown print is perfect for adding a fun statement print to a neutral outfit. I love this shade mixed with an all black outfit or a creamy beige color. Fit in Clouds makes multiple print and color options, and they would make a really cute gift idea for a bridesmaid or bride. I could totally see changing into these after a long night of dancing in heels!
As for today’s outfit, this is one of my top summer work outfits lately. It’s soooo hot right now! My obsession with these Gap tank tops continues, and I’m probably going to need to buy more with how much I wear them. I have been tucking then into ALL the skirts for work and pairing them with shorts and jeans for the weekend.

Floral Off the Shoulder Top
Hello!! Ya’ll I’m so in love with this top. Truth, this is not the print I originally ordered. I ordered this top in the tropical print, but this print arrived in a mislabeled bag. I tried it on just to see if I like the fit/sizing and fell in love! I’m pretty sure fate stepped in on this one and was like no you need this top in this rose floral print. 🙂 I’m always a fan of a dark background on a floral print. I think it adds a chic edge to the floral design.
The colors in this floral off the shoulder top make it work well with all the jeans from white to black to distressed blue. Needless to say, I decided to keep this print. I actually went back and looked at the tropical print again and realized I love this one so much more.
This outfit would be perfect for date night, girl’s night out, or maybe even a Mother’s Day lunch. I tried this top on with shorts too, and it’s just as cute dressed down as it is up. I went with no necklace and statement earrings. With off the shoulder tops, I sometimes really like to go no necklace and let the bare shoulders shine a little.

Yellow Off the Shoulder Dress
Hello!! How was your weekend? We had a randomly cold weekend here. I had to pull out my sweaters and coats. I was not feeling it, and I ended up spending most of the weekend indoors in my coziest loungewear.
This yellow dress is a breath of fresh Spring air after our cold weekend. I have been noticing a little bit more yellow out this season, and I’m really excited about it. It’s a color I love to wear, but I don’t really own much of it. I’m hoping to add a bit more this Spring and Summer. The bold yellow of this dress was the perfect backdrop for my beaded tassel necklace. I love how the different colors pop against the yellow. For a more fitted look to this dress, try belting it. You can pick a fun color like blue or red to contrast against the dress color.
I originally thought about pairing this outfit with neutral or brown wedges, but then I found these color-block cuties in my closet. I love all the bright colors mixed together. It just adds to the fun and flirty nature of the dress. This outfit would be perfect for an afternoon sipping wine on a patio friends, a casual evening party, or a fun date night.
I found a few more yellow favorites below, and don’t forget to check out today’s Style File Link Up! Ya’ll have a good week!
