Thanksgiving Outfit Idea

When I started putting this post together, I thought maybe I should hold on this one until it’s closer to Thanksgiving. Then, I realized that Thanksgiving is just over a month away! I mean where the did year go! I have a few different types of holiday looks for you this year from casual dinner to office holiday party to this dressy casual look perfect for an evening celebration.
This Thanksgiving outfit idea would also work for Christmas or just a nice dinner out. The satin material, dark jewel tone color, and button sleeve details on this top dress is up perfectly for the holidays. I paired it with jeans for a semi-casual look, but you can easily dress it up with pencil or pleated midi skirt.
To add a little holiday fun to this look, I added in some red tassel statement earrings and my snakeskin heels. Tan suede flats and gold stud earrings would be another alternative. I also added in my greens stone necklace. I think the two greens together are fun and add to the sophisticated chic look of the top. This top also comes in a few other colors. I went with this gorgeous dark green because it’s not a color I have too much of in my closet.
What is your typical Thanksgiving outfit style? My family is usually a little more casual with sneakers, booties, and more casual tops.

Blue Tunic Top + Faux Leather Leggings

Is it time to pull out the leather leggings yet? I have had this pair for a few years, and I always love that instant chic factor they give to a look! You may remember I purchased the Spanx faux leather leggings during the Nordstrom sale. Sad news though, I accidentally tossed them out when I was cleaning up post sale. They had fallen into a shoe box with black tissue paper, and I didn’t realize it until a few days later. Ya’ll I was so bummed! I’m hoping to find them on sale again and re-purchase.
I like the ones I’m wearing because they have more of a leather look to them where the Spanx ones look like coated leggings up close. BUT my current ones tend to look loose around the knees and the spanx ones stay fit to the leg. It kind of depends on the look you are going for and the price. My current ones are cheaper than the spanx ones. FYI – the ones linked are the same brand and style, just there current version. Mine are from about 2-3 years ago, and the quality is good for the price. After a few years of wearing and washing, they still look new too!
An easy pairing with leather leggings is a tunic top and suede boots. For all my petite gals out there, this blue henley tunic top is the perfect length!! I plan to buy it in more colors because the length is so perfect! These tops go with everything and come in so many colors! Pair them over leggings with skinny jeans and booties, tucked into a skirt, or a front tuck with shorts and sneakers. It’s a great top to have in your closet, and bonus it usually doesn’t need ironing!
This outfit has me ready for girls’ night out or date night!

Tips for Dressing Up a Cardigan

A girlfriend of mine and I were chatting a few weeks ago about how cozy and comfy long cardigans are for fall and winter. Her one issue with them is how to create a dressier look with one. I think many people instantly think casual outfit with booties and tshirts when they think of a cardigan outfit. She asked for some tips to dress up her jeans and cardigan looks and the idea for this post was born.
One way to easily dress up a long cardigan for fall is to layer it over a material like silk, satin, or lace. These materials have a dressy factor on their own and will give your cardigan a slightly more luxe look when partnered together. The deep v and cross neck detail on this satin top also helps amp up the statement factor of this look.
Another way to dress up a cardigan is to add a killer pair of shoes. I usually lean towards a great pair of heels to dress up an outfit. Not a heels person, grab an animal print or colorful pair of pointed toe flats.
Last tip, add some great jewelry. You can stick to your classic solid pieces or add in some colorful statement pieces. Either way, jewelry is another easy way to dress up any outfit especially a long cardigan.
On the hunt for even more long cardigans this season, don’t forget to check out my post from earlier this week rounding up my top picks of the season! Want help styling an item from your closet this season? Leave me a comment and you may see it in a future outfit post!

A Chic Way to Style a Cropped Jacket

A few years ago, I saw a look like this one on Pinterest and immediately began a quest to find the perfect cropped tweed style jacket to recreate the look. Every time I would find the perfect jacket, the price tag was usually not so perfect. I had such an exact idea in my head, and I started to think I would never find the jacket in my desired price range. Ever get like that where you have something in your head, and then spend hours, days, in my case years trying to find it.
When I found this one, I could not believe my luck. It was the exact style and color I wanted and a pretty decent price. Here’s the downside for ya’ll, I apparently was not the only one searching for this jacket and it sold out before it even made it to my doorstep. I’m going to keep my eyes out for a restock, and I’ll share over on Instagram when it happens!
This jacket is not a true tweed but a knit with houndstooth print that reminds me of a tweed like look. It has cute fringe details on the sleeves and faux pocket. It’s an open jacket with one sparkly button at the top. This white top and black jeans and boots combo is the outfit I have been trying to recreate for a cute fall or holiday look. It’s such a chic way to style a cropped jacket. I also think this jacket will work to dress up a t-shirt or pair with a fitted dress or pencil skirt for work. The knit design keep it lightweight and easy to move in which I really like.
