I had another amazing weekend. While last weekend was all about relaxing, I felt this one was more about going back to my roots so to speak. On Saturday, my dad, sister and I headed to the Kolache Festival. My mom had to unexpectedly go into work, so we turned the day into a daughters/dad day date. We ate our fair share of kolaches, listened to my dad’s favorite polka music, and even took a few spins on the dance floor. This was an event we attended when I was a kid, so it was fun to go back and reminisce on the good old days. Sunday was all about old friends! My college best friends and I gathered for lunch and girl time. Even though we all live in the Houston area, we don’t see each other as much as we used to, so any day we can all get together is a special one.
I fell in love with the print of this skirt at first sight. I could not place my finger on exactly what it was that drew me to it. My sister saw it and felt it reminded her of a print our grandmother would wear, so maybe a bit of nostalgia struck when I saw this skirt. I love the different colors in the skirt, because it gives you multiple options of what color top you can wear with it. I decided to stray from my solid color route, and try a printed top. One of the shapes in the skirt is black and white stripe, so I decided to play off that print with a black and white striped top. The stripes on this top are super thin, so from a distance it almost looks like a gray top. I really love how the two prints work together, and play off each other. Print mixing can be very tricky. I ‘m still working on my basic skills of this art. If you are a novice print mixer like me, stripes are a great place to start. I think they blend more easily with other prints to create a nice cohesive look. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Monday!

A few weeks ago, my friends and I gathered to celebrate our good friend Meaghan and her future daughter. I wanted what I wore to the shower to be a little bit dressy, but also a little casual. I knew this skirt would be perfect for the little bit dressy part, and that it was also a skirt I could easily dress down a bit. Pretty much my entire outfit was planned around this skirt. For the casual part of my outfit, I reached for one of my H&M tees. I really like how the thin black and white stripes pair with the pinkish peach color of the skirt! With my dressy casual ensemble ready, it was time to accessorize! I have worn this skirt with only gold so far, so I wanted to change it up a bit and pair it with some silver jewelry. I immediately grabbed my Kendra Scott Rayne necklace. I love how the white pearl color looks against the color of the skirt! I felt I needed one more delicate necklace, so I added in my infinity necklace from Wildbloom. It was the perfect length to sit right above the crew neckline of the shirt. Since my Rayne necklace and this skirt are both statement pieces, I kept my earrings and bracelets super simple. I opted for only a couple thin bangles, and my basic Kendra Scott studs. While digging through my purses for a clutch to carry, I found this old favorite from Sam Moon. I love how the turquoise color pops against the pink of the skirt!! It provided the perfect compliment to my outfit!
The shower was beautiful and fun! We made little headbands for the new baby to wear throughout her first year. I, of course, made her a violet one!! Now we are just patiently awaiting this precious little girl’s arrival, so we can start showering her with lots and lots of love!! And so Meaghan can drink champagne with me again. 🙂

Happy Memorial Day! We are still raining and flooding in areas down here (not near me thankfully!), so our three day weekend has been mostly spent inside catching up on TV and house chores, online sale shopping, and cuddling with my puppy. If you are stuck inside like me, there are still some awesome sales going on at Nordstrom, Baublebar, and Elanie Turner this weekend just to name a few. All three are also in this post so you can score discounts on some of the items. My favorite weekend purchase so far are these earrings from Baublebar! They remind me of fireworks and I will be stalking my package tracking until they arrive!
I may be spending the day in my pajamas, but I’m sharing a little office style on the blog today! I LOVE this midi skirt!!! I found it during the triple points event at Nordstrom earlier this month. It is super light and airy, perfect for our hot and humid weather. My sister was able to catch how beautifully it moves in the breeze. I immediately knew I wanted to pair this skirt with a blue top. Pleione is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands at Nordstrom. I own about four tops from them, and they are all extremely comfortable. This split neck blouse is perfect to pair with skirts, but it also pairs really well with jeans and shorts too. Office and weekend looks meant I had to have this top! It also comes in a few other colors too.
I am also wearing my latest jewelry from my Rocksbox subscription. I had this necklace on my wishlist, and was very happy to see it arrive in my box. I had seen a similar necklace on a friend, and could not stop thinking about how fabulous the necklace was and how may ways I could wear it. The necklace is a bunch of small bars, so the movement of the necklace is pretty cool. I also received this Vanessa Mooney bracelet which is perfect for my small wrists. I am pleased to see that they are taking all my feedback into consideration when sending each box. I had mentioned how big the bangles were with my second box, and here on my fourth they are still taking it into consideration. I have listed the full item names above, so if you are a Rocksbox subscriber you can search for them and add to your wishlist if want to play with these too. I am almost done with my big review of my first few months with the Rocksbox service, so look for that to be on the blog TOMORROW!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

I usually hate when there is any sort of breeze or wind while my sister and I are taking blog photos because my hair usually ends up in my face for a good half of the shots. On this day though, the light breeze was perfect to showcase just how fabulous this skirt moves! I have to give major props to my sister for perfectly catching it moving in the breeze. These pictures show just how gorgeous this skirt looks when you move and walk in it. I have found my favorite way to wear this skirt is with a t-shirt. I love that its is fancy on the bottom and casual on top. Pairing it with a tee is also a great way to wear this skirt to a baby shower or brunch without looking too overdressed. Midi skirts are in every store right now! I think they are complimentary style on an array of body types which means they might be around for awhile. Despite that the length of a midi skirt is different on everyone based on height, the skirt never seems to be at an unflattering length. I am a petite 5’3 and one of my besties is about 6 inches taller than me. We were both talking the other day about our love for the midi skirt length. It’s a professional length for work, but you can still wear it on the weekends too.
I have to give a special thanks to Lauren of Style Elixir for naming me Head Stylist on her blog yesterday! Check out my Q&A with her here! You may just learn something new about me! Thanks for stopping by!!
