What I Wore to NYFW Shows

Happy Friday!! I’m back with another look at what I wore to NYFW and a little insight into how I pick what to wear to each show. I wore this Trina Turk dress to the Nonie show. This dress was so comfortable and I love the open lace on the sleeves. This dress was perfect for Fashion Week, but you could also wear it to work or a fun post-work event. It had a classic silhouette, gorgeous fall colors, and the trendy lace design. It fit my desire to stay true to my style perfectly.
When picking what to wear to the shows, I focused on two things – staying true to my style and the designer’s style. For shows like Nonie with feminine silhouettes and classic designs, I opted for a dress that fit that style. For my more trendy/edgy type shows like Nana Judy, I opted for jeans and a gorgeous velvet mixed material duster coat (see it here). Both looks were 100% me, but I also fit in with the audience and style of the show. When choosing shows, I opted for the ones that I knew would be the best fit for my style. This helped when picking out what to wear too.
I’m working on a post with snaps I took at various shows, and I hope (fingers crossed) to have it up for you this weekend! If you have any questions about NYFW, drop them in the comments or shoot me an email, and I will include a little FAQ in one of my future fashion week posts.

Workwear in NYC: White Midi Skirt

Happy Friday! I’m so excited to start sharing some of my photos from my New York City trip earlier this month. I have a few posts planned all about Fashion Week, but I also shot a few extra outfits while I was there because I loved having the different and beautiful backdrop of NYC. These photos were shot in Soho. It was the windiest morning, but I loved how it made these photos turn out.
Anyway, let’s talk about this outfit. First off, my top and skirt are both 40% off right now! I love this white striped midi skirt. Right now and in Spring, I’m pairing it with fitted tops like this navy one. When cooler weather comes in, I think it will be perfect with a chunky knit sweater.
For my trip, I picked up another Henri Bendel Mini Jetsetter. I wanted a black travel bag, and well after looking at several brands and stores decided to buy another Jetsetter in black. I love that I can carry it as a backpack, satchel, and crossbody. For NYC, it was perfect to store heels in so I could walk around in flats and then change when I arrived at meetings and events. Last week, Henri Bendel announced they will be closing all stores and their website in January. Their bags are so durable and good quality, and I was sad to hear this news. If you have had your eye on a bag, you may want to try and scoop one up before they close next year.

Fall Workwear: Pinstripe Pencil Skirt

Hello Ladies! This week is all about workwear, and I’m starting with one of my favorite skirt purchases from the big Nordstrom sale! Obviously, I fell in love with this pencil skirt because it was gray. The details on it though are what really make this skirt special. The pinstripe gives it a professional office vibe, and the buttons and small slit make this standout from your basic gray pinstripe pencil skirt. It’s the perfect skirt to go from work to happy hour.
I have paired this skirt with my teal top, but I really love it paired with a fitted black top. This turtleneck is a fall and winter basics must have! It’s super stretchy and really comfortable for being so fitted. I can’t wait to pair it with all the jeans and boots soon! You could also pair it with a dark skinny jean and heels for date night.
My weekend wedding was so much fun ya’ll, and my dress was amazing! You can see it HERE from my IG post. After a busy busy few weeks, I’m so excited to have a super low key couple of weeks coming up. It feels good to have a few days and weekends to just chill and relax at home before the holiday season begins. Hope your week is going well!

Fall Work Outfit: Striped Pencil Skirt

Happy Friday!! I’m currently writing this while sipping a glass of wine en route to NYC! I’m so excited and grateful for this opportunity to attend fashion week, and I cannot wait to share my trip with all of you.
While you wait for those blog posts, I have a little fall work outfit inspiration for you. I have been adding more skirts to my work wardrobe lately. I love separates for work, so you can mix, match, and create a variety of outfits. This striped pencil skirt was the perfect addition. The black and white stripe makes it work with all the solid color tops. I love it with this pretty teal blouse. The bow detail is the perfect touch to make it just a little special. It’s a stretchy material, so super comfy to sit in all day or walk around.
I hope you guys have a fabulous weekend! Thanks for stopping by this week. If you want to follow along on my NYFW fun, be sure to check out my Instagram (@karenkocich)!
