One sweater I have always heard is worth the splurge is a cashmere sweater, but I just haven’t been able to spend the often $200+ price tag yet. Probably because I live in Texas and winter only lasts about a month or two. I mean we had record high temps yesterday, and I considered going to the pool on Monday. So…..
I took a baby step towards the splurge though over Black Friday and bought this wool/cashmere blend sweater for a steal of a price. The black keeps selling out, but a few other colors remain. This sweater is still really soft and warm, but for like half the cost of full cashmere. My only semi-downside to this sweater is the slits on the side are high which means I have to wear a tank underneath it. You could mix it up a little and put a fun color to peek through the sides. I went with black because I bought this sweater with the idea of pairing it with my new gray jeans. If an all black look is my go to, then black and gray is it’s close best friend. Love this color combo and how perfect it looks with the pretty pop of dark pink. By the way these earrings have been marked down to $24 in a big winter sale along with a few other great statement accessories!

One of my favorite things about plaid is to see the different color pairings in each one. I saw this navy and burgundy plaid tunic online months ago and fell in love. It immediately found it’s way to my current cravings list. Once I saw it in store, I became even more smitten with the color combo. This top is a tunic length which makes it perfect to pair with leggings and boots or underneath a chunky knit sweater in winter. I definitely see more of this color combination in my fall and winter future!
I am so excited for this week, because I have so many fun activities going on. It starts with a ZTA Alumnae gathering, followed by a night with my bestie Adele, and ends with the mega holiday shopping extravaganza, The Nutcracker Market.
I am the most excited about the Adele concert. I have had tickets for a year!! Her last Houston concert like 4 years ago was cancelled because of her throat surgery, and I have been waiting for her to come back ever since then. I also took Thursday and Friday off work for the Nutcracker Market. Yes my Houston readers, I am one of those crazies who goes first thing when it opens! Although I am thinking about going later in the afternoon this year to let the crowds calm down a bit. The market is amazing, but not when it’s so crowded you can’t move or go in any of the booths. What a busy weekend! My parents’ anniversary party was a fabulous success. I’m glad I decided to take off work today because a day to relax is exactly what I need after such a busy weekend.
A few weeks ago, I had my heart set on finding a red and black plaid for fall. I wanted a small buffalo plaid, and a top that could be tucked in or left out. I stumbled upon this one at Old Navy for only $25. They always have online discounts, so you can probably get it for even less! The material is lightweight, so it is perfect for right now when it’s still warm. I love rolling up the sleeves to 3/4 length on plaid shirts.
My immediate styling thought when wearing such a casual plaid shirt is how can I dress this up a bit. Hands down easiest way is to add a cute pair of heels. I went with blush heels because I like how they can give a tall and lean look to your legs. The blush color also doesn’t take away from the colors in the plaid. If you wanted to add color with your shoes, I would probably pick yellow for a bright contrast.
I also love adding on a longer statement necklace to plaid shirts. This one is a couple years old, but I linked the short version. I think this one or this one would be cute to recreate a longer statement necklace look.
