The title of this post may seem to be a bit of a bold statement, but it is 100% how I feel about this top! I love the look of a button down shirt, but sometimes they can be a bit stiff. I sit at a desk all day. I want my clothes to be comfortable AND professional. That’s what I love about this top. The fabric is this comfy semi-sheer crepe like material which is soft and moves. I also like that it has two buttons on the arm. You can wear the sleeves long on cold days or roll them up to 3/4 or a little higher on warmer days. I mean come on, it’s like the versatility king of work shirts! It also comes in a wide array of colors and patterns, so I have a feeling I will be buying more. I decided to start with the striped version, because it’s a classic print that works well both for work and play. Outside of work, I love to pair button down tops with denim and riding boots to create a bit of dressed up look for a Saturday evening dinner or a Friday Happy Hour. It’s no secret that I am not a big fan of winter. I hate being cold! My winter wardrobe game plan is always to stock up on cozy, warm, and comfy sweaters that are also cute. I found this sweater at the Nordstrom Sale over the weekend. I was drawn to the stripes, but when I saw the brand I knew I had to try it on. It is the same brand as my white tee from this post. The tee is soft and comfy, and this striped tee holds to that same soft and cozy feel. I like the kind of distressed look around the necklace and the bottom of the top. This top is going to perfect for lounging around the house or to toss on for some errand running. I originally grabbed a small, but it was way too big. I ended up going with the XS which is still nice and roomy. I am definitely going to have to keep an eye on the Stem brand at Nordstrom for some future wardrobe adds.
This bag has been on my current cravings list for months!! It was an unexpected Christmas gift, and I am so excited to finally own it. I really wanted a tote like this one for traveling and conferences. I love that is reversible with the other color being black. It comes in a few other color options, including this set that is on sale!
If any bloggers out there are looking for a fun blog conference, Thrive Blog Conference is happening at the end of February in Houston. Well technically The Woodlands, but almost Houston. I am attending again this year and cannot wait for a fun networking and learning weekend! This was the first blog conference I ever attended, and I made some amazing blog friendships and learned lots of valuable info that I still use today in my blog. My Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases officially started rolling in last week! One of my favorite things about online shopping, other than I can do it in my pajamas, is when the packages start to arrive! Even though I know what is in them, it is still exciting to rip open the box and check out the goods! I actually first saw this sweater while shopping at Nordstrom a few weeks prior to Black Friday. I really liked it, but it came in 3 colors and I couldn’t decide which one I wanted to buy. I decided to hold off until I could decide on a color. Fast forward a few weeks later, and I found this sweater included in their Black Friday markdowns!! Bonus, this sweater is STILL marked down to $20!! This sweater is on the thinner side which is often what I look for in sweaters. I mean it’s December and we are finally in the fall season down here in Texas, so I buy the majority of my sweaters on the thinner side. I decided on the teal shade because it’s a color I don’t own too much of yet, but I love this color! The other two colors are burgundy which I’m obsessed with and black also one of my color crushes. Also, just a sizing note. I typically wear a medium in this brand, but ordered in a small after reading reviews. The small fits perfect so I’m happy I chose to go down a size! Also, my boots are on sale again! Print Mixing: Plaid & Embroidery

I originally picked this jacket out with the idea of pairing it with fitted red and black dresses for holiday parties. I am still planning on wearing it that way, but on a whim I tried it on with this plaid top and I really liked how it looked together. I’m still trying my hand at print mixing over here. For this mix, I was intrigued by the common red color in both pieces. I think two different print sizes also help this mix work together. The small embroidered design still gets to be the standout part of this outfit next to the big buffalo check. To help tie the two prints together, I decided this outfit needed some bright red shoes to bring out the red in both prints. You could also make this look work for the office by pairing with some skinny work pants or a pencil skirt. I am in holiday party outfit planning mode over here, so I decided to pair with my black skinny jeans for a more dressed-up casual look.
And your eyes are not deceiving you, I recently changed my hair color back to this dark burgundy color. I colored it right after taking my photos from Monday’s post. I always like going back to a dark color for fall and winter. I have been crushing on different shades of burgundy for my hair over the past year. I hope ya’ll are having a good week so far!! I personally am counting down until Friday because I am so excited for Adele’s new album (which I already pre-ordered) to be released!! I plan to listen to it on repeat all day Friday!!
