Despite the teeny tiny cold front that hit Texas yesterday, it’s still too hot for these gorgeous boots. But after staring at them for the past month, dying to wear them, I decided to style them for a little pre-fall blog post. I usually buy one or two pairs of boots every year, and this year I wanted a cognac brown casual boot that I could wear with jeans and dresses. Because I am short, I almost always head to a store to buy tall boots. I wanted this pair to hit that sweet spot below the knee but above mid-calf. I’m definitely predicting these boots will be on major repeat for fall and winter, so get ready for some fun outfit ideas with these beauties including this perfect Farmers Market outfit! Once the weather cools off, one of my favorite Saturday morning activities is to head to our local farmers market. Our market is held in a large uneven parking lot, so these boots will be perfect to trek through and check out the different farm booths! When it comes to colored jeans, the color at the top of my list is easily teal. This color is perfect to wear year round! In winter and fall, it pairs perfectly with an over-sized beige or black sweater, and both brown and black boots. In spring and summer, I mix it up with tanks and tunics. I purchased this pair from the Loft a few years ago, but I linked some other jeans in a similar teal color. I like the slightly darker shade of teal because that is what helps them transition so easily across the seasons. I plan on wearing it with shorts this summer, pencil skirts in the office year round, and with jeans and boots in the winter. It is also a classic style and cut, so it will be around for awhile. Some of the craziest weather months in Texas are the transitional ones! In one day, we can go from 80 to 40 which calls for a little planning ahead in the outfit department. I think the spring transition is my favorite of all the seasonal transitions. It might be because I much prefer the warmer weather, and February means warm weather ahead. Plus, I love wearing wedges, sandals, dresses, and tank tops! Dressing for transtional weather means wearing multi-functional pieces like a button down blouse. In the mornings, I keep the sleeves down for the cooler temps. Then in the afternoon, I can easily roll up my sleeves, and go enjoy a glass of wine on one of the fabulous patio bars in Houston. The spring transition is a fun time to start re-introducing some of those spring staples like wedges or a strapped heel where I might normally wear a riding boot.
I also use this time of year to get one last wear out of my favorite winter clothes. Some other fun outfit ideas for this time of year, pair your favorite sweater with shorts or an above the knee skirt and strapped heels or sandals. Love your riding boots? Pair them with skinny jeans and a tank top. What about those scarves? I love pairing mine with a solid colored t-shirt or tank top, jeans or shorts (depending on the temperature) and wedges. You may remember a couple posts I did in December showcasing the fabulous Christmas decorations at Walt Disney World. Well, today I am going to share the most important part of my trip – What I Wore. Walt Disney World has FOUR theme parks which means lots of walking, rides and souvenir shopping! We were only visiting for two and half days, so we had a lot of ground to cover. My outfit post today is slightly different to what I wore at Disney. The main difference is the shoes. I wore black ballet flats that normally are super comfy on my all day shopping trips. By the end of day one at Disney, my feet were definitely feeling a bit sore and tired. I started to notice that so many people were wearing Toms. At the time, I did not own a pair, but I knew my sister owned a couple pairs. So when I returned home I asked, are they really that comfortable? She said yes, so I knew I needed a pair! She also recommended sizing down as the shoes stretch a little after wear, so I did just that. I haven’t had the chance to break them in yet to tell you how they hold up, but the thousands of people I saw wearing them at Disney and my sister cannot be wrong.
One item that I wore everyday at Disney, was my small cross-body bag. It was small enough that I didn’t have to take it off when I was on a ride. I am not a huge fan of putting my belongings in those little pouches on roller coasters. It held my wallet and phone which was really all I needed. Disney has these new bracelets you wear when you are a resort guest and they work as your room key, park admission, fast pass ticket, credit card, and photo pass. Definitely reduces the number of items you have to keep up with! For my clothes, it was all about comfort. We had no time for outfit changes, so I needed something I could wear all day and all night. Skinny jeans with just a hint of stretch are perfect for all day wear! My Pleione top also fit the bill for a super comfy yet stylish top. Since we visited in December I also brought a couple scarves. I preferred this to a jacket because during the day the sun warms you up a bit, but at night it gets chilly. I liked being able to wrap my scarf around my arms and create my own little jacket when I was cold. So there you have it, one all day of doing touristy things outfit. Happy Wednesday Ya’ll!
