I am sharing another Instagram favorite with ya’ll today! I wore this a few weeks ago for a fun little Friday Date Night. I love the cutout shoulder of this top and think it helps create the perfect date night outfit. As I get older I realize that looking sexy doesn’t necessarily mean showing tons of skin, but rather showing just the right hint of skin. I think open shoulder tops perfectly show that right amount of skin. I bought this one last fall and it’s probably one of my favorite date night or girl’s night out tops. I also linked some other open shoulder tops for you in the details above. Since this top has a longer length and little flow to it, I love pairing it with skinny jeans. Yes I totally think it is okay to wear white after labor day that is why we have winter white. 🙂 I have also paired this top with some black skinny jeans too for a gorgeous and sexy all black look. I also wore this top with a fun leather skirt and tall boots too. Also, How fabulous are these shoes? These are another old item that I purchased during winter, but I did manage to find a website still selling them for you. I love that these shoes have a part bootie and part pump feel to them. The calendar says Fall, but the weather outside is definitely still in transition mode. Transitioning seasons is all about mixing pieces from both the past and upcoming season. For today’s look, I paired a perfect for spring and summer kimono with my favorite fall booties. I picked up this lightweight kimono last week from the Dao Chloe Dao Boutique in Houston. First off, if you are in Houston, you need to check this place out. The boutique features Chloe’s amazing and beautiful designs, as well as more affordably priced items hand-picked by Chloe. I have been a fan of hers since Project Runway, and love seeing her shows at Fashion Houston. I love her style and always leave her store with some fun new pieces. My favorite thing about this kimono is the color scheme. The colors are a great earth tone for fall, but are on the lighter side which is perfect for spring and summer too. In summer, I would definitely pair this with some shorts and a tank top. I managed to find the exact one at an online boutique and linked it above. I also shared some more kimonos that I think our perfect for transitional weather in the little widget below. For fall, I am all about pairing kimonos with a simple tee and booties! These booties are last season, but I linked a near identical pair that cost way less than mine! When the weather is even cooler, kimonos can also be paired with skinny jeans and riding boots. I read this post on Instagram the other day that said something like, I’m ready for cool fall temps, but once they get here I’m like I can’t wait for spring. That post was so me! Every year in September I am so ready for fall weather so I can start wearing all my fabulous fall fashion items, but after a few weeks I start to miss my dresses and wedges. If I had to pick my favorite look for fall, this is it! I love long tunics with skinny jeans and boots. This olive color is perfect for fall and will work perfect under a tan jacket this winter. Ya’ll these boots are officially back on sale for under $140! I haven’t had the chance to wear them outside of blog photos, but they area really comfortable. I like that they have room to tuck in my jeans. If you have a wider calf, they also come in a wide-calf version too. I am already trying to find ways to style these boots with some dresses, so I can start wearing on our next cool day. I originally tried them on with a dress, so I know they will be super cute with one.
My poor little pup had to have dental surgery yesterday to have her chipped tooth fixed. My plans this weekend are for lots of cuddles as she recovers and as we celebrate her 4th Birthday. I know she is going to love that she gets to eat nothing but wet food for a whole week while her stitches heal. We only feed her wet food on special occasions or when she has been a really good puppy. When we give it to her, it is like nothing else exists while she eats. Fall items are taking over the stores, and one item you will be seeing everywhere this season is plaid and checked shirts. I am a huge fan of these for both fall and winter. I picked this one up at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this summer. While the weather is warmer, I like to roll up the sleeves of my shirts to create a 3/4 length look. I love that this shirt has a pretty floral lining, so it creates a pretty cuff when rolled up. If you are already shopping for fall, I recommend picking up a few plaid shirts. I find the best/affordable ones go first, so stock up now. I created a widget below of a few more fall plaid shirts I like. These shirts are super versatile, and I can guarantee you will be seeing my styling them mulitple ways on the blog this season. I love pairing them with pencil skirts for the office, tall boots and skinny jeans for the weekend, and layering under chunky sweaters and jackets in winter.
A few other hot items this fall, taupe booties and black skinny jeans. My booties are from last year, but I found a nearly identical pair from Sole Society (linked above). I wore these so much last year with cuffed jeans of all colors. The taupe shade is the perfect color to be able to mix with a multitude of colors and prints. If you keep an eye on my current cravings at the bottom of my site, you have seen a few taupe booties pass through the list. Black skinnies are another hot item! You can tuck them into tall boots or cuff and wear with booties. I pair mine with all sorts of tops from tunics, chunky sweaters, slim fit turtlenecks, button down shirts, and just plain old t-shirts too. All three of these items are going to be fall wardrobe staples that can be remixed into different outfits all season long.
