Current Beauty Favorites

Spring Beauty Product Review | Makeup Products | Skincare Favorites | Houston Beauty Blogger Lady in Violet

Happy Friday!!  I wanted to share a few of my current beauty favorites with you guys today.  All products are new to me over the past few months, and all have become regulars in my daily beauty routines.  It’s a mix of makeup and skincare, so grab your coffee or wine if you are a nighttime reader and enjoy a look at some of my latest beauty faves.

Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair – I have heard rave reviews about this product, and I have been dying to try it.  I order most of my beauty products from Nordstrom and with those orders I always get a few beauty samples to try out.  I was pumped to try a sample of this product out and was amazed by the results.  I noticed a difference in my skin with like 15-20 minutes after I applied.  My skin looked more hydrated and awake.  The next morning, my skin looked hydrated and glowing. I immediately ordered a bottle.  This product will definitely be a keeper in my nighttime skincare routine.  After over a month of use, I definitely can see this improving the tone and texture of my skin.

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara – I picked up this mascara because so many people rave about how fabulous it is.  I definitely went into this a little skeptical, but I really do love this mascara.  I use Rodan & Fields Lash Boost which help my lashes grow, but this product really enhances my lashes.  They look longer and bit fuller after I apply this mascara. My favorite thing about this mascara, after 3 months of use, I still have no clumping.  I have found some fabulous mascaras that add dramatic length and volume, but clump so easily after just a few months.  I want my mascara to enhance my lashes and make them look like they are naturally this fabulous, and clumps not so cute.  I definitely plan to keep this product in stock and a regular in my makeup routine.

Clinique Repairwear Night Sculpting Routine – This product was another beauty sample I received when I purchased a few other Clinique products.  I have really great results with Clinique’s skincare products, so I was excited to try this one out.  I read about how many people use this on their neck and chest area with great results, so I gave it a try.  My chest area was starting to show signs of aging from way too much time in the sun.  After using this product for several months, I don’t see any of that aging in the skin on my chest anymore.   It has really toned and firmed up the skin on both my chest and neck.  I loved the results so much, I ordered a full size of it.  I haven’t used it on my face yet, but I’m planning on giving it a go in a few weeks when I run out of my current moisturizer.  It will definitely be a staple for my neck and chest area, regardless of how it works on my face.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment – I have heard so many good things about the Fresh brand of lip products, and I picked this one up during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale last year.  I wear chapstick to work everyday over lipstick because I don’t want to get lipstick all over my coffee mug and water cup that I use everyday.  I have so many tubes of chapstick lying around that it took me a few months to getting around to consistently using this one.  This product is definitely a keeper over my others.  It is pricey, but I only apply it once a day and it keep my lips feeling hydrated and soft all day.  My other chapstick products have to be reapplied multiple times throughout the day for those same results.

NYX Epic Ink Liner – I always say in my family my sister is more of the beauty guru and I’m the fashion girl.  She is always trying out new makeup products and sends me pics of her faves, and I pretty much always buy what she recommends.  She sent me this eyeliner one day because she was excited to find a dupe for her favorite Anastasia eye liner.  This NYX one comes in at about $8 at Ulta.  I was living in my gel pot world and so over liquid liner, but for $8 I decided to give it a try.  I’m currently on my second tube.  This liner goes on so easily and dries pretty quickly for a liquid liner.  It lasts all day and has even survived a few semi-sweaty workout sessions. Plus, I have had no issues with it rubbing off on my eyelid crease throughout the day.

I hope if you are in the market for any of these beauty products, you find the reviews helpful.  All of these products are amazing and have made their way into my regular beauty buys.   I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter weekend, and thank you so much for stopping by!

Hello Hello!  I’m so excited for this look today.  It’s all about taking your Spring wardrobe basics and making them oh so chic.  The base of this look is a simple white top and white skinny jeans.  These two items are spring staples for me.  I actually just added these tank tops to my closet in white, olive, and black.  I like that they are a little thicker than my white camisole, and they don’t show my bra straps.

With a great all white base, I layered on my blush pink cardigan.  This cardigan is the same brand as my long maroon circle cardigan.  It’s really comfy and great quality.  I adore this gorgeous pink, especially layered over the white.  Short sleeve cardigans are perfect for Spring when one day can be a mix of hot and cold.

I completed my look with a neutral heel to dress up the overall look.  A ballet flat or cute wedge sandal could work with this look too.  I kept my jewelry super minimal with just a long necklace and white earrings.  I love the simplicity of the pieces with this outfit.

This look would be perfect for a casual Easter Sunday, brunch with your gal pals, or running errands if you opt for flat shoes.  It’s an easy throw on and go look, but still very put together.

Ya’ll, we have had the prettiest first week of Spring!  I know so many are dealing with snow, but our weather has been picture perfect. So I think you should all escape to Texas and join our Spring weather party!! 🙂  I have a feeling everyone will be outdoors all weekend long, and the rosé will be flowing!

I love pulling out the black and white gingham print for Spring.  This print seems right up there with florals in popularity.  I found this gingham dress about a week before I bought it.  I could not get it out of my head.  I loved the gingham, but I also LOVED the ruffle midi bottom and halter neckline.  I think two really work well with my petite frame.  The full skirt is balanced out by the tighter fitting and shoulder baring top.  Also, this dress is perfect for twirling.  I felt a little like my BFF’s 3-year old when she puts on her princess dresses.  I just had to twirl a bit.

Originally, I pictured pairing this with fun red statement jewelry for a party or happy hour look.  Once I tried it on, I decided to play with a softer color and pair it with this light turquoise statement necklace and simple gold stud earrings.  I like how the softer color plays up the feminine details on the dress.  I think this softer styling would be perfect for a baby/bridal shower, date night, or a fancy lunch.

Sizing Note: Most brands at Asos are European sizing, so you will need to size up.  I am wearing a US6 in this dress, and I normally wear a 4 in dresses.  If you have never shopped Asos before, I love them!  They were one of the first places I shopped at online.  They have really quick shipping.  I usually get my packages in 2-7 days, and the return process is really easy too.  With the sizing difference, I have had some big misses which made me appreciate their easy return process.

Happy First Day of Spring!  I cannot think of a more perfect way to celebrate than with this gorgeous light blue dress AND  a round up of my favorite 2o Spring dresses under $100!  I am a huge fan of Spring for many reasons. The big non-fashion ones – 1) all the flowers are blooming and 2) the feeling of fresh starts and new beginnings.  I feel like everything from plants, people, and social calendars are all start coming back to life with the start of Spring.

The Spring season has me on the biggest dress kick right now.  I’m warning you, the rest of March and most of April is going to be real dress heavy, but they will all be really pretty. 🙂  I love this little light blue number for Easter, date night, a baby/bridal shower, or a fancy Sunday Brunch.  It’s Topshop which is European fit and sizing, so you definitely want to size up.  I’m wearing a US6, and I normally wear a 4 in dresses.

Ya’ll these sandals that I love finally came back in stock in my size in the taupe color.  I have never added to cart so fast!!  I predict to wear these and my black pair on major repeat all spring and summer.  I mean they are the most comfortable heels I own after all.

I also rounded up 20 of my favorite Spring dresses under $100.  If I let myself keep browsing, I probably would have ended up closer to 100 under 100. Stay tuned to my Spring Style Finds for more picks throughout the season.  The dresses below are a good mix of casual, work, date night, and wedding season.  I wanted to be sure to hit ALL the events you might have coming up this spring.

I hope ya’ll enjoy the first day of Spring and have a beautiful season ahead!
