What I Wore in September

Ya’ll so excited that it is October. This is one of the best weather months in Houston, in my opinion at least. It’s bright and sunny with a cool breeze. You have days where you can start wearing some fall layers, but also days to relish in a few of our summer faves. I’m already excited for next month’s what I wore post!
But before I get ahead of myself, let’s talk about what I wore this month. I ventured out a bit for a baby shower and dinner with some gal pals. I, of course, pulled out some sparkly and colorful pieces for both occasions. Other than that is was pretty business as usual with lots of casual outfits including a few loungewear looks and a look at a few ways I transitioned my outfits from summer to fall.
Enjoy the outfit inspiration, pin your faves, and Happy October!

Four Ways to Wear a Floral Print Sundress
Oh my goodness, I can not believe it is already the last day of September. This definitely was a blink and it’s over kinda month! We had our first cold front blow in this week, and I had a chance to pull out some of my lightweight sweaters. I get cold easily, so for me sweater weather sometimes begins in the low 70s. I’m definitely excited for the cooler temps, so we can start spending more time outdoors on walks and on our patio.
I quite enjoyed my sundresses this summer. They were light and breezy and great for at home days. I wanted to share a few ways to keep the sundress love going into fall with a few ways to restyle your dresses into fun new outfits.
Four Ways to Wear a Floral Print Sundress
FOR SPRING & SUMMER
Let’s start with the original look of my sundress for the Spring and Summer warm weather days. Since this dress a midi length, I opted to wear it with a wedge for a little added height. The neutral color choice of my shoe is also a petite friendly trick for adding the illusion of a longer leg. Great for using with longer dresses.

FOR FALL
The easiest way to transition any dress into fall, add on a denim jacket. This tip is great for fall, but also works in Spring when you might still need a layer. A bootie is the shoe for fall and can instantly transform a dress into the fall season. These booties have a lower profile, so it works well with the longer length of the dress. Again, I chose a neutral color to create that height illusion.

CASUAL DAYTIME OUTFIT
For a casual daytime look, I layered my dress over a white t-shirt and added a casual pair of white sneakers. Adding a t-shirt under a sundress is also a quick and easy way to make it bra friendly. Tossing on a comfy pair of sneakers make this outfit perfect for a day on your feet running errands. You could also toss a denim jacket over this outfit for cooler weather.

FALL WORK OUTFIT
A long olive cardigan is the perfect way to make this sundress office friendly. It covers both your shoulders and the open back. You could go with a few different shoe options here like tan heels or loafers. I really liked how my white slides helped the white in the print pop, so I chose them for my work outfit styling.

Three Ways to Wear a Pink Floral Blouse for Fall & Spring
Hello friends! Coming at you today with one of the prettiest floral tops. It’s a sheer overlay with a vintage floral dark pink print with a crew neckline and smock detailing at the end of the sleeves. I love the vintage vibe this top gives off and how the sleeve detailing adds a bit more fullness and a small balloon effect to the sleeves. It does come with a v-neck cami to pair underneath it. It’s going to be the perfect top for both fall and spring. Scroll down to see how I would wear it for different seasons and scenarios.
THREE WAYS TO WEAR A PINK FLORAL BLOUSE FOR FALL & SPRING
BUSINESS CASUAL OUTFIT
Dark wash flared jeans are my go to for a nice business casual outfit. It helps give a professional office look while still wearing comfy jeans. To keep the look polished, I tucked in the shirt and added a brown belt. This shade of brown works well the dark pink of the top and dark blue of the jeans. I also added in my tan suede heels to match my belt. The dark pink and white colors in the top contrast perfectly with the dark blue of these jeans to really help the print pop.

CASUAL SPRING DAYTIME OUTFIT
For an easy spring outfit, pair this top with a light wash pair of jeans. I pushed the sleeves up to 3/4 length to slightly change the look of the top and make it more warm and sunny weather friendly. A quick sleeve push up is an easy way to change up the look of a long sleeve top. You could go with a few different shoe options like light tan booties or a classic wedge. I opted for these white slides. I think they are a great way to add a little chicness to any outfit and still be super comfy.

CASUAL FALL OUTFIT
** GREAT FOR THANKSGIVING!**
Is it too soon to be thinking about Thanksgiving outfits? This olive green and pink color combo would be so perfect to wear to family dinner. To keep with the fall earth tone feel of the top color combo, I paired this with my black skinny jeans and brown tall boots. Black jeans and brown boots are one of my favorite combos for the fall season. It works with a variety of colors, especially earth tones. To lighten the look up a bit, you could also go with dark blue jeans and a lighter tan slouchy boot.

Recipe Roundup no.1

I’ve always loved to cook, and this extra time at home has given me plenty of time to test my culinary skills. While I do occasionally mix up my own recipe concoctions, I really love searching through pinterest for fun new recipes to try out. In case you are in need of a few new ideas for dinner this week, I thought I would start sharing some of the hit recipes that I have found and cooked. The images are the actual meal that I prepared and below each image is a link back to the original recipe.
When searching for recipes, I mainly look for Whole 30, Paleo, and/or dairy free. I also don’t eat much pasta, so I usually search for recipes that are low carb. Most of the recipes I choose will be a from scratch recipe (aka not to many pre-made or processed ingredients), and something I can put together in 30-45 minutes on a weeknight.
