I love a good throw on and go dress, and sweater dresses are the perfect throw on and go. For a dress to fall in this category for me, it has to meet one big requirement, NO IRONING! Sweater dresses definitely meet this requirement, and they look great with booties, boots, flats, and pumps. When it gets colder, I love throwing on some tights or leggings and wearing tall riding boots with them. You can just as easily dress them up or down depending on your shoes or how you accessorize. Oh the possibilities seem endless! I like that this dress is a simple dark gray color, because it gives me lots of options when changing the accessories to create a new look. Just changing to a different colored scarf, or no scarf with a long silver pendant necklace can give me a whole new look. If you have read past posts then you know, the more wears and looks I can get out of something the happier it makes me! Thanks for stopping by and Happy Veteran’s Day!

The Arctic Outbreak is coming! I love the names they give cold fronts these days. It’s time to start layering up this week! One of my favorite layering combos for work is a button down shirt under a sweater. I tend to layer a print button down under a solid color sweater. I like using this black and white check top as my bottom layer, because I can use it under an array of colors throughout the season. I just recently purchased these skinny leg work pants, and I am in love! Black skinny jeans are one of my favorite things to wear, so black skinny work pants seemed like such an obvious purchase that I can’t believe I had not made it yet. These have diagonal zipper pockets at the hips, so they feel a little trendier than your average work pants. Don’t be surprised if these pants pop up again in upcoming posts! I am also loving these shoes. They have become one of my go to shoes with skinny pants. I love the way the cross-strap hits just perfectly at the bottom of the pants. They are also really comfortable! When I first tried them on in store, I was worried about the back of the shoe rubbing my heel. I haven’t had any problems with this, and these are quickly turning into one of my most comfortable pairs of black work pumps! Thanks for stopping by and Happy Monday!

I have talked in previous posts about my love for getting multiple uses out of my clothes, and today I am sharing just how I do it. You may be surprised at just how easy it can be! I love taking a simple basic dress and dressing it either up or down for night or day. This dress has been styled three ways – one night look, one day look, and one look I call my county fair cook-off look. If you are not from Texas, that is like a giant BBQ party. To take this dress to cocktails or a dinner with friends, I added a black leather jacket, black booties, silver jewelry and red lips. You almost forget there is such a plain dress underneath! My day look for errand running is adding flats and a military jacket. This dress is loose fitting and comfy and goes great with flats and an oversized military jacket to enhance the casual comfy feel of the dress. My county fair cook-off look adds a jean jacket and some cowboy boots, of course. Maybe it is because I am a born and raised Texas girl, but I think just about every dress looks great with boots and a jean jacket. Just by pretty much changing my jacket and shoes, I will get three different looks out of this dress. Bonus fourth look, you can wear this dress all by itself with a pair of black flip flops or flats. HAPPY FRIDAY and thanks for stopping by!
The Everyday Bag
| OUTFIT DETAILS |
BANANA REPUBLIC Soft-Wash Oxford Shirt | BANANA REPUBLIC Ponte Fit-and-Flare Skirt | MARC JACOBS Leather Preppy Hobo [LOVE THIS TOO] | JESSICA SIMPSON Akito Booties | GORJANA Conwell Charm Necklace | KATE SPADE Skinny Mini Pave Bow Necklace | KENDRA SCOTT Tima Stud Earrings | ESSIE Bahama Mama | MAC Lipstick ‘Faux’
If I could wear one outfit to work every day, this would be that outfit. I just love everything I am wearing and it is also really comfortable. Work button downs sometimes tend to be stiff and restrictive, but the soft wash oxford shirts from Banana Republic are lightweight and so easy to move in. Then there is the skirt, I love how it is structured at the top with bounce at the bottom. The whole outfit just moves so easily. There is just something about clothes that move well, they just add a little pep in my step.
I am also featuring my everyday bag today! My Marc by Marc Jacobs Hobo was a Nordstrom Rack find about a year ago. I arrived to a dinner early and stopped in to look around the store. I had been on the market for a new bag for a few months, and had not yet found the ONE. I spotted this one on the shelf and was immediately drawn to it. I spent the entire dinner thinking about the bag and how perfect it was for me. Even at Nordstrom Rack it was still a big purchase, so I decided to sleep on it. The next morning, I still wanted this bag so bad! I decided to go back and buy it, and it was definitely a great decision. For me, this is the perfect everyday bag! I love that from the side it is pretty slim. After work, I often head to events and happy hours, and I hate when my bag keeps running into people. The slim design of this bag prevents that from happening too often. The color was a huge selling point for me. I do not want an everyday bag that may clash with what I am wearing, and this purple/wine color goes with everything. Despite the slim design, this bag holds quite a bit! I have an umbrella, a full size wallet, a small makeup bag, phone, keys, sunglasses and other small items in my purse at all times. If you have never purchased a higher end bag before, I recommend looking into one. This is the second one I have purchased and they really hold up to the test of time. My purses used to start falling apart after a year of use, but I carried my last one for about 3-4 years. It is actually still in great condition; I just was ready for an update. It is a big purchase, so you definitely should be sure this is something you can see yourself carrying for several years. A true investment piece! Thanks for stopping by!
