Sometimes Mondays are the hardest for me to crawl out of bed and reach for the office side of my closet. Especially in spring and summer, when I have probably spent most of the weekend in comfy maxi and sundresses. Blending a little of my weekend wardrobe into my Monday office look helps me ease into a new work week. When I purchased this striped t-shirt, one of the ways I was most excited to style it was for work. I mean who doesn’t want to find a way to wear a comfy t-shirt to work. The best way for me to cross my weekend tee to office appropriate is with a colorful pencil skirt. If you wanted to go a step further, you could also toss a black blazer over this look to go even more professional. I also think the stripes on the top help take it up a notch to make it look a little more office ready. Although, I think a v-neck tee in a solid color like black, white or even mustard yellow would look pretty fabulous with this skirt too.
Over the next few weeks, I am going to be doing a little trial run of listing a few past looks that also incorporated a few of the pieces from today’s outfit. I love not only styling an outfit, but finding ways to restyle those pieces to maximize the number of looks out of everything I own. I think the more outfits I create out of each piece the better value that piece is for me. I hope you find some style inspiration seeing a few posts of an item that maybe you are thinking about adding to your wardrobe, or a piece you already own and are looking for a few new ways to style. Thanks Ya’ll and Happy Monday!

Hope you have your green ready, because St. Patrick’s Day is upon us! I love seeing what shade of green everyone wears on this day. Even in my closet I have mint, teal, hunter, olive and regular old green. It kind of reminds me of when you open a giant crayon box and see the array of shades for each color. I originally bought the mint dress from last week’s post for St. Patrick’s Day, but since that was promoted to Easter, I needed a backup plan. I am a huge fan of Pleione tops, because they are so amazingly comfortable and even better, affordably priced. (This top is only $39!) I love the geometric print on this one! Since the top was full of circles, I decided to pair with my rectangular and straight-lined gold jewelry. I thought the change in shape would help the necklaces stand apart from the very busy top. Since St. Patrick’s Day is a work day for me, I went with my new skinny work pants to help balance the fullness of the top. This outfit could easily transition to nighttime festivities by adding skinny jeans in a darker blue and some nude pumps! Hope everyone has a fun and safe St. Patrick’s Day!

Earlier this week, I mentioned the Thrive Blog Conference I recently attended to learn more about blogging. The opening speaker of the event was Ashley LeMieux of The Shine Project. My favorite thing about Ashley is that she saw a problem and was determined to help no matter how big or small. The Shine Project employs at risk inner city youth to help give them hope for a brighter future. Ashley taught herself how to make the jewelry that she would sell to help high school students in the area. As her business grew so did the number of kids she was impacting. She currently employs college students to help make the jewelry so they can pay for school. She believes in them and their futures, and works hard to give them hope that they can have a bright and beautiful tomorrow. She continues to spread the companies message and jewelry line in hopes of helping more high school students reach their dreams of attending college through the The Shine Scholarship Project and to become the future leaders of tomorrow. She has such an amazing and positive attitude, and it was very refreshing to listen and be inspired to put good back into our crazy little world. During a break, I headed back to her booth where she was selling some of the jewelry. Honestly, I had no idea what the jewelry was or would look like, for some reason in my head while she was speaking I started picturing little friendship bracelets or something like that. I was blown away by how beautiful and professional the jewelry looked! Staring back at me was gorgeous silver and gold jewelry at an affordable price! I decided to pick up the full silver bracelet to add to my arm stack for the day. They also have other stone and glitter colors to suit anyone’s favorite color. She also had some really cool necklaces displayed, and I’m really liking this silver layered set! It’s true what they say, one person really can change the world.

** Jewelry from Rocksbox Subscription c/o
A couple weeks ago, I was contacted by Rocksbox to try out their jewelry subscription service for a few months on them. I checked out their website and was immediately intrigued by their borrow or buy program. If you read my blog regularly or follow my outfit selfies on Instagram, you may notice I tend to wear the same few jewelry pieces. I can shop for days for clothes, shoes and purses, but I tend to stick to my tried and true jewelry pieces. I only add a new piece or two every so often. I also tend to stray from picking up too many statement pieces. I love window shopping them, but usually do not buy because I am not sure if I can get enough wears to justify the cost. This frame of mind is exactly why Rocksbox intrigued me. I could try out new jewelry including statement pieces for a few weeks, and then send them back for more jewelry or if I really loved something, buy it for a discounted price. So with a free trial offer in front of me, I decided to give it a try. I received my first box last week and wanted to share my first impression of the service with you.
After signing up, I answered a few style questions like whether I wear more silver or gold and what my favorite types of jewelry are. I also headed to the wishlist section to favorite a few items. A Rocksbox personal stylist used this info to create a three piece jewelry ensemble just for me. I have never done a subscription service before, and it was kind of exciting waiting for the box full of mystery jewelry to arrive. Even more exciting was finally opening the box and seeing what jewelry was handpicked for me. My immediate reaction was this is awesome! I recieved a statement necklace, a bangle bracelet, and stud earrings. I immediately thought of this mint dress I picked up from a local boutique to pair with the blue and gold of the statement necklace. The v-neck of the dress fit perfectly with the cut of the necklace. The stud earrings were from one of my favorite gold jewelry brands, Gorjana. I was thrilled to see a piece from House of Harlow in my box. I have admired this jewelry line for a while, but have never purchased a piece. I have enjoyed wearing these pieces over the past few days, even pairing them with an all black look last night for a sorority alumni event. In terms of if I plan to keep any of these pieces, probably not from this box. I really like the stud earrings, they are probably the piece I would be most likely to purchase. The statement necklace was fun to wear for a bit, but I am still a little trigger shy when it comes to adding a statement necklace to my collection especially one with a defined color. I really like the bracelet, but it is a bit too big for my wrist. I also kind of want to see what I receive in my next few boxes before I commit to any specific pieces. What can I say, I like to see some options, but I do have one more fun and casual look planned for these jewels before I send them back for my next box. You will have to wait until next week to see that one!
NOW the best part of all this, Rocksbox is giving you a ONE MONTH FREE trial too when you use code LADYINVIOLETXOXO at checkout!! And keep checking back here and on instagram to see the different ways I am styling my Rocksbox jewelry from this and future boxes.
Also, how perfect is this dress for Easter?? I originally bought it to possibly wear for St. Patrick’s Day, but I think it has definitely been upgraded to Easter!!
